YWCA’s MotherLove program supports pregnant and parenting teens throughout Buncombe County. Our goals are to help young parents to stay in school and graduate, access higher education and vocational training, develop the skills and knowledge needed to become strong parents and delay another teen pregnancy. -
Getting Ahead In a Just Getting By World
YWCA’s Getting Ahead program aims to provide financial empowerment for low-income women of all ages and backgrounds to make choices that positively impact themselves, their families, and their community. -
Early Learning Program
YWCA’s Early Learning Program provides 5-star childcare for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Our experienced and compassionate teachers not only provide exceptional care for little ones, but also prepare young children to succeed cognitively, physically, socially, and emotionally. We prioritize families using childcare vouchers or caring for children in the foster care system. -
Empowerment Childcare
The YWCA provides up to 12 hours of free childcare per week for parents who are in transition, continuing their education, accessing social services, or looking for employment. ECC works closely with the Family Justice Center, Buncombe County Health and Human Services, A-B Tech, Green Opportunities, and Mary Benson House.
Miracle on Main Street will take over Chimney Rock Smokehouse from November 24 to December 31st. Featuring craft cocktails, tons of decor, award winning bbq, and weekly events. This place will make even the Grinch smile.
The trees that directly protect our homes and neighborhoods from flooding, extreme heat, pollution, and soil erosion are the most vulnerable to development and the pressures of a changing climate. They also have an immense impact on how vulnerable we are to those same conditions.
Asheville GreenWorks is leading local efforts to protect our urban trees and restore our tree canopy, but it takes ALL of us. You can help create a better future by donating today — no contribution is too small to make an impact.
We need your help and the help of your network to make this holiday drive as successful as possible in putting new books into the hands of Buncombe County elementary and middle school students during the holiday break.

We’ve partnered with over a dozen local organizations serving K-12 students throughout the county. They’re eagerly waiting for book drop-offs like kids waiting for the first snowfall!

This monthly event is co-sponsored with Blue Ridge Community College\’s Small Business Center, the City of Hendersonville Main Street program, and the Hendersonville Merchants & Business Association features several speakers on timely community events and issues affecting our business community.
ONSITE | Wednesday, December 13, 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. | $75 Adult Non-Member (Arboretum member discount applies!) Pre-registration Required.
A chutney can be a cross between a jam and a relish, as popular in the southern U.S. as it is in India. Together we will create a fragrant blend of fresh and dried fruits, spices, some sugar and vinegar and jar it up to present as a seasonal gift or to store in your own pantry. Expect to work with apples, oranges, pears, figs, raisins, dates, cranberries, ginger, hibiscus petals and more to make a couple of different types of chutneys. Sample them in class with cheese and scones but learn many ways to use them through the year with different menus. Our culinary guide and guru is Nanette Davidson, author of The Folk School Cookbook and founder of the cooking program at the John C Campbell Folk School where she served as Resident Artist in Cooking for twenty years. Let’s have fun turning the Arboretum classroom into a temporary canning kitchen for this unique Maker day!

The Spa at Capitola Mill is a day spa located in downtown Marshall NC. We offer Massage, Facials, Foot Soak & Reflexology, Himalayan Salt Room Sessions, & Sauna Sessions.
The Spa at Capitola Mill is thrilled to commemorate their first year in business. Their celebration will align with downtown Marshalls “Jingle Mingle” event. They are excited to welcome Santa and his helper to extend greetings to our guests. Additionally, they will host a holiday raffle featuring gifts from local businesses, refreshments and appetizers will be provided by the spa.
*Parking: From downtown Marshall at the Madison County Courthouse, cross over the French Broad River, and make an immediate left turn off the bridge into the Capitola Mill parking lot. Handicapped parking is available next to the front entrance ramp. The Spa is located inside the Capitola Mill Building, Studio 2.
Venture Asheville grows Asheville’s startup community and connects high-growth entrepreneurs to talent, mentors and investors through unique programming and events. The Venture 15 and Venture Asheville Honors is our annual end-of-year party where we announce and rank the 15 fastest growing startups in the area and award Entrepreneur, Mentor, Investor, ESO of the Year, The Shining Rock Award and the Venture Asheville Vanguard Award and Best Startup to Work For.
Let the dance parties, networking, good food and drinks begin! River lovers are encouraged to support RiverLink and other community nonprofits through Give!Local, the annual philanthropy program organized by MountainXpress. The first 10 donors of $100 or more to RiverLink will be entered into a drawing for a kayak tour on the French Broad River with Renee Fortner, RiverLink’s expert water resources manager. First Bank is waiving transaction fees, so 100 percent of your donation goes to the nonprofits you select.

Songwriter in the round featuring Rebecca Loebe, Crys Mathews, and Flamy Grant. All award-winning artists – Flamy just won the New Artist of the year award at Kerrville Folk and Crys won best song of the year at FAI last year. Rebecca was on the first year of The Voice and has been a Kerrville New Folk Artist as well.
As one DJ puts it, Rebecca Loebe “has an almost supernatural ability to get the crowd singing along.” Over the past decade, the Austin-based singer songwriter has taken her fans along for the ride, touring nonstop across the United States, Canada, Japan, Europe, and the UK. If you love lyric driven, full-throated modern troubadours like Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, and Phoebe Bridgers, then Rebecca Loebe is a must-listen.
Ask about the new generation of social justice music-makers and Crys Matthews will be mentioned. A prolific lyricist, Matthews blends Americana, folk, jazz, blues, bluegrass and funk into a bold, complex performance steeped in traditional melodies punctuated by honest, original lyrics. “While each and every day, on each and every media platform, we’re reminded of the division, alienation, marginalization, and divisiveness rampant in our country (and our world), we’re not often enough met with people like Matthews,” said Justin Hiltner of Bluegrass Situation, “who exist as reminders of what beauty can occur when we bridge those divides.”
Flamy Grant is a shame-slaying, hip-swaying, singing-songwriting drag queen from western North Carolina. Her 2022 debut record, Bible Belt Baby, was nominated for Best Pop Album at the San Diego Music Awards, and she is a winner of the 2023 Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Competition. Both a powerhouse vocalist and an intrepid songwriter, Flamy blends the art of drag with her iconic folk/rock sound to create a memorable musical experience.
