Hey Neighbors! Another solid trio of wonder-filled songwriters will be sharing their lyrical and musical offerings for our July session at the coolest bar in Hendo. Beth Lee, Jefferson Ross, and Annie Wenz will lift your spirits and warm your hearts. Delicious cocktails + handcrafted songs + friendly folks = time very well spent. Come join us!

Beth Lee is an award-winning songwriter who migrated from Austin, TX to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Her writing is heavily influenced by bluegrass and classic country music. She is passionate about writing lyrically diverse songs – songs that invite the listener to go on a journey and to be taken away by the story.

Old Crow Medicine Show began as street performers in 1998, busking their way from New York to Canada with infectious energy and raw spirit. Their big break came in Boone, North Carolina, where a chance encounter with folk legend Doc Watson led to an invitation to play MerleFest — and the rest is history.

More than two decades later, the band is a beloved staple of American roots music. They’re Grand Ole Opry members, two-time Grammy winners (including Best Folk Album for Remedy), and the force behind the double-platinum anthem “Wagon Wheel.” Their debut album O.C.M.S. is now certified Gold, and their latest release, Jubilee (Aug 2023, ATO Records), earned a Grammy nomination — proving that Old Crow is still blazing trails with heart, grit, and unmistakable sound.

The brainchild of Asheville NC singer, musician, writer, promoter and longtime music biz vet Joe Medwick, FOR THE LOVE OF LEVON AND LOWELL is a heartfelt and loving tribute to Joe’s friends LEVON HELM, GARTH HUDSON and all of the past and present members of the legendary Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame group THE BAND, as well as Joe’s past and present good pals in the seminal and equally legendary band, LITTLE FEAT!

Lead singer, drummer and band-leader Medwick, whose career in the music business spans over 50 years of performing, booking, promoting, management, A&R, filming, selling and writing about music, has performed with LEVON HELM, GARTH HUDSON, PAUL BARRERE,DAVE EDMUNDS, RY COODER, ALBERT LEE, THE NEVILLE BROS, THE CHIEFTAINS, THE MCGARRIGLE SISTERS and many more, will be joined by his Asheville All-Star Band, with very special guests every show!

Come join us on a journey of somatic bliss with our Tibetan Singing Bowl Sound Bath with Vivek Chugh, an immersive experience designed to transport you to a realm of deep relaxation and rejuvenation.

Vivek will be facilitating this sound journey using handcrafted singing bowls, each emitting unique vibrations, frequencies and tones which can bring balance and health to the body. The premise is that sound can influence physical, emotional, mental and spiritual state of being.

Allow yourself to be transported to a state of profound calmness as the harmonic frequencies of the singing bowls washes over you. No prior experience is necessary.

Whether you’re a seasoned mindfulness enthusiast or someone seeking a novel path to relaxation or seeking stress relief, our Tibetan Singing Bowl Sound Bath is a therapeutic journey where ancient wisdom meets modern well-being.

Out in the Big Barn, let’s dance!!! Local favorites in the rose-splattered pearl snaps, Old Charlotte Highwaymen will be joining us! Bluegrass, old time, sweet strings and pickings, we’ll have some music to sit and sway to, square dancing and big mountain circle dancing with a caller.

• HNG will be running a bar with local beers and NA beverage and snack cart.
• Barn Door Ciderworks will provide some sweet and snappy sips of their legendary cider brewed right here in Fairview.
• Grush’s Cajun Dino Grill food truck will be there with their Cajun classics fueled with WNC ingredients. Their skill elevates comfort food to a Jurassic level, one of our staff’s favorites.
• Pro tip: we have picnic tables, benches & patio sets, but always bring a backup folding chair or picnic blanket JUST in case. It can get packed!

2025 will be the 59th Season of Shindig On the Green!

Bring your instruments, families, friends, lawn chairs and blankets and join us for good times at the Bascom Lamar Lunsford Stage. In 2025 Shindig on the Green, which features a stage show and informal jam sessions around the park, continues at its original location — formerly known as City County Plaza, now transformed into the new Pack Square Park. Locals and visitors alike come together downtown “along about sundown,” or at 7:00pm for those who wear a watch, until 10:00p.m. Concessions are available. Come experience the beautiful music and dance traditions of Southern Appalachia on a summer evening in the mountains.

Our musical journey continues with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Serenade in D Major, Op. 25 for Flute, Violin, and Viola, combining elegance and grace with playful rhythms. Its delightful melodies and intricate interactions between instruments showcase Beethoven’s mastery in this unique ensemble. Flutist Brandon Patrick George joins the Jasper String Quartet for Zhou Tian’s Viaje, a thrilling work combining the composer’s musical roots as a Chinese-American with his love of Spanish music. Antonín Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 10 in E-flat Major, Op. 51 combines lyrical beauty and rhythmic energy, drawing on Czech folk traditions to create a deeply expressive and engaging finale to the program.

Shift into your parasympathetic nervous system with a healing Sound Bath! This shift helps the body lower your heart rate, relax muscles, and initiate healing processes.

Join your host Kristin Hillegas, for a one-hour Serenity Sound Bath and experience a deeply immersive, full-body sound and vibrational experience. A sound bath can cleanse your soul, restore your balance, surround you with peace and tranquility and stimulate healing.

Note: Please bring a yoga mat/pillow/blanket since you will be lying on the floor. Wear warm, comfortable, and flexible clothing.

The Sound Bath will take place upstairs in the Education Building. Choose your space starting at 12:45 PM, doors close promptly at 1:00 PM.

This service is being offered on a sliding scale of $10-20.

Accessible parking is available in the Center for Spiritual Living Asheville upper parking lot. The entrance to the upper parking lot is off of S. Bear Creek Rd between Science of Mind Way and Sand Hill Rd.
There is a boardwalk walk-way from the upper parking lot to the building entrance.

Jason Isbell record always lands like a decoder ring in the ears and hearts of his audience, a soundtrack to his world and magically to theirs, too. Weathervanes carries the same revelatory power. This is a storyteller at the peak of his craft, observing his fellow wanderers, looking inside and trying to understand, reducing a universe to four minutes. He shrinks life small enough to name the fear and then strip it away, helping his listeners make sense of how two plus two stops equaling four once you reach a certain age — and carry a certain amount of scars.

Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance presents Appalachian Phoenix, a Celebration of Community, Resilience and Hope.

An evening of beauty and resilience through the art of dance, Terpsicorps’ world premiere of Appalachian Phoenix is more than a performance—it’s a testament to the strength, creativity, and unity of Western North Carolina. This powerful new work transforms real stories of kindness and perseverance in the wake of Hurricane Helene into breathtaking movement, music, and design. Terpsicorps, now in its 22nd season, features world-class dancers who will bring to life the true stories of local heroes, nominated by their communities. Their acts of kindness and courage shape the choreography, making Appalachian Phoenix a deeply personal and meaningful experience. Around 15,000 water bottles collected from the storm’s debris will be utilized to create a remarkable translucent backdrop that will frame the choreography and reflect abstracted images of WNC projected onto its surface. The original score was created by composer Jeff Schmitt, along with River Guerguerian and Chris Rosser, of Free Planet Radio. It blends the past and present into a dynamic, inspiring, and evocative composition. The score fuses old-time, bluegrass, Afro-Appalachian folk, hip-hop, funk, blues-rock, and Latin rhythms. Collectively, they’ve performed at venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to MerleFest, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Asheville Junction plays a bluegrass/Americana show at Jack of the Wood this Friday, July 25th, 8:30 pm – 11:30 pm. Hot fiddlin’ and harmonies, smooth vocals, great banjo & mandolin pickin’. Toe tappin’ and lively. Jack of the Wood is one of downtown Asheville’s oldest pubs and the original home of Green Man Brewing. Awesome selection of whiskeys, 18 rotating taps featuring local & international craft brews, and an award-winning menu of comfort food favorites & elevated pub fare. $10 cover at the door.
