Eliada Homes is a non-profit agency in Asheville that provides a cradle-to-career continuum of services for over 400 children and youth annually. This includes our 5-Star Child Development Center (child care, pre-k, afterschool, and summer camp), Residential mental health programs, Foster Care, adoption services, respite care, equine therapy, intensive in-home therapy, and Workforce-Ready housing assistance for youth aging out of foster care. Established in 1903, we have been helping children succeed for 120 years.
Join us for the Asheville Chamber Business After Hours Corn Maze & Fall Festival event on October 17th at 5 p.m. at Eliada Homes. There’s no better time to visit Western North Carolina than in the fall when leaves are exploding with color. This year, the SERDC Symposium and Annual Membership Meeting will take place in Asheville, NC, just steps from the famed Biltmore Estate, minutes from an eclectic downtown and right beside the Blue Ridge Parkway.
This year’s Symposium aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange within the recycling community. It serves as a platform for professionals to stay updated on industry trends, build partnerships, and contribute to the sustainable development of recycling practices. In addition, our 2023 Champions of the Southeast award winners will be announced and the SERDC membership will be able to get an update on this year’s work as well as vote in the 2024 Board of Directors.

West Asheville’s newest market space is a collaboration between Tori Frasher, owner of Sage & Spice Catering, and Executive Chef Sergio Castro. Whether you’re a food enthusiast, a seasoned chef, or simply looking for a fun day out, The Market has something for everyone. There will be a myriad of offerings such as smoothies, lattes, matcha, tea, Cuban sandwiches, empanadas, sandwiches, salads, and more. In addition, guests will also be able to purchase frozen meal planning options, wine, beer, and cider. Large group and catering menu options are available upon request. Tori Frasher, owner and operator of The Market by Sage & Spice, is a Greenville, S.C. native who immediately fell in love with the beauty, hospitality, and culinary offerings she found upon her first visits to Asheville. After graduating from Furman University and a brief career in automotive marketing and sales, she moved to Asheville to pursue a career in international food, culture, and event planning. This pursuit led to the creation of Sage & Spice Catering, one of the premier catering and event management companies in Western North Carolina, in 2019 to focus on weddings, large gatherings, holiday events, and corporate functions in conjunction with Executive Chef Sergio Castro, formerly of Conosur Restaurant, and Chef Amanda Delgado. “Growing up in a large Lebanese family, my grandmother and great-grandmother taught me how important food can be to family and as a love language. I’m so happy that I can bring those lessons, our professional catering expertise and talents, and a wide array of local and international vendors together in one place – The Market by Sage & Spice.”, said Frasher. Executive Chef Sergio Castro’s culinary journey began over 30 years ago in Peruvian kitchens. Since then, Sergio has served in executive culinary positions at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center in Florida, Burlington Marriott in Boston, N.C., and Champion Hills Country Club in Hendersonville, N.C. Most recently, Sergio opened and operated Conosur in Mills River, N.C. for five years before joining The Market by Sage & Spice team. “When the offer appeared to own a restaurant and market in Asheville with Tori, I jumped at the opportunity. Wear your finery and mask thyself. Masks are required for complete immersion into the age-old traditions of a Carnivale masquerade! Extravagance and creativity will not go unnoticed, as you will have the opportunity to vie for the title of Carnivale Royalty.
Champagne and light antipasti will be served along with delectable sweets. A cash bar will be available for further imbibing. The evening will be capped with a celebratory and complimentary digestif.
Enjoy the thrills of the evening with a gondola ride through the Grand Canal, a test of truth and fate at the Bocca della Verita, and delight in joy from roaming performers. Your evening’s journey continues with a visit to Venice’s Cafe Florian, a stroll through a bustling marketplace, and an opportunity to have your portrait made. The evening culminates in the theater with masterful performances, a procession of the nobles, and a finale that is sure to keep you dancing into the night.
The Carnivale in Venice will be held (not in Venice) at the historic Asheville Masonic Temple in downtown Asheville. Multiple parking options surround the event site as well as street parking. This is a non-smoking venue, inside as well as outside of the building.

Continuum Tattoo Collective Presents CYBERDOME: A Spectacular Halloween Dance Party to Benefit Crossnore Communities for Children
Hendersonville, NC- Continuum Tattoo Collective is proud to announce CYBERDOME, an electrifying cyberpunk apocalypse Halloween event aimed at making a huge impact in the community by supporting Crossnore Communities for Children. This year, Continuum Tattoo Collective is taking its annual Halloween event to a whole new level, promising an immersive experience like no other.
CYBERDOME will transport attendees into a world of dystopian wonder, where they will be mesmerized by thrilling performances, incredible music, and jaw-dropping costumes. The event, set to take place on October 28th of 2023, will push the boundaries of imagination, creating an unforgettable evening of entertainment and fundraising for a worthy cause.
In an effort to enhance the event experience, CYBERDOME will feature a four-course dining buffet, signature cocktails, and an exciting costume contest with remarkable prizes. Attendees can mark their calendars for September 2nd when Continuum Tattoo Collective will announce the detailed menu, cocktails, and contest prizes on their website.
To ensure guests are fueled up for the night, CYBERDOME will provide a delectable dining experience, including a delicious salad, mouthwatering entrees, and delectable sides. This immersive dining experience will be available before the party, allowing attendees to feast and indulge in the dystopian ambiance.
As attendees arrive at 5:30 p.m., they will be welcomed into the cyberdome through the PROMENADE, an enchanting entrance that sets the tone for the evening. From 5:30 pm to 7 pm, the WITCHING HOUR happy hour will offer complimentary cocktails that transport taste buds into the future, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.
At 7:15 p.m., Empyrean Arts will captivate attendees with an awe-inspiring performance featuring breathtaking aerial displays. The night will continue with Rubiks Groove, a sensational concert that will keep guests dancing until 10 pm. Additionally, an unpredictable mystery performance will add an extra layer of intrigue to the evening.
To satisfy attendees’ sweet tooth, the DESSERT COFFEE TABLE will offer a delightful array of treats from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. At 10 pm, the event will hold an exciting moment of ANNOUNCEMENTS, where a panel of esteemed judges will crown the best costumes of the night. The winners will take home prizes valued up to $1000, adding to the excitement and anticipation.
The party doesn’t stop there! From 10 pm until 2 am, the UPSIDE DOWN AFTER-PARTY with Dagget Productions will keep the energy and excitement surging through the cyberdome, creating a party experience attendees won’t want to miss.
