Since 2010 master scientific glass blower, Jason Probstein has been presenting live glassblowing demonstrations here at our art gallery.

And once again we are proud to announce that Jason will be blowing his unique Christmas ornaments and glass artworks here at Mountain Made gallery from now to December 23rd, 2019.

Jason will be demonstrating Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. He will also be blowing glass every Sunday from Noon to 2:00 PM.

Hillman Beer’s Trivia Night is on Tuesdays from 7pm-9pm! Get ready to drink some beer, test your wit, and have some fun!

The holidays don’t stop at Aloft! Join us on Thursday, December 26 at 8 p.m. to celebrate most wonderful time of the year by watching a holiday classic: Christmas Vacation. Munch on small bites, sip on cocktails and enjoy complimentary popcorn while indulging in the holidays. We hope to see you there!

This hour-long workshop will give you an introduction to the hops and malt that go into your favorite Highland beers. Highland’s R&D brewer, Trace Redmond, will guide you through how hops are harvested, selected, and used for brewing. You’ll then take a whiff of a number of different hops and taste a variety of malts. You’ll leave with a greater understanding and an even more overwhelming love of beer. Each ticket includes a redeemable beer token and a pint glass to take home. Please note that this class is limited to 20 participants. A minimum of 10 participants will be necessary for this event to take place. If fewer than 10 tickets are sold, then Highland will refund all purchased tickets.

Our Quality Assurance Scientist will lead you through how to properly taste beers as well as how to identify off-flavors that can occur. Test your taste buds across seven different common off-flavors and see if your palate is as spot on as you think. By the end of this class, you’ll sound like a pro at your next brewery visit! David Zoll grew up on Long Island, NY with a steady diet of doo-wop, Motown and classic R and B from local oldies radio, Willie Nelson, Simon and Garfunkel, and the Everly Brothers from his parents, and Brian Setzer, the Ramones and Black Sabbath from his brother. Later on with stints in upstate NY and Florida, and a first serious study of the guitar, he was influenced by everything from the finger-style guitar of Chet Atkins, the classic dub of Lee Perry, and the complete buffoonery of Frank Zappa. David moved to the Asheville NC area in the summer of 2006, and with the support of his family, friends, and beautiful wife, released his first self-titled EP in the spring of 2011. He is lucky enough to share the stage with some amazing friends and musicians, and can be seen playing throughout the WNC area in solo acoustic settings, and along with his group, The David Zoll Quartet., which combines Zoll’s original material with the jazz sensibilities of musicians and friends. Spanning multiple genres including blues, soul, psychedelia, and good old rock roll, the DZQ is an Asheville area group to be on the lookout for. Comprised of drummer/vocalist Ben Bjorlie, bassist Danny Iannucci, harmonica master Paco Shipp, and guitarist/vocalist David Zoll, the quartet pushes sonic boundaries from the amplifiers to your eardrums. Always fun, always danceable.

Every Fourth Friday from 8pm to 1am @ our South Slope location the Free Range DJ will be spinning consciously sourced vinyls! Dressing up and Dancing is HIGHLY encouraged. Break dancing isn’t a requirement, but please feel free to do so if you are blessed with that talent. It is going to be RAD!

the Space Cowboys & the Cosmic Girls is a collective of Asheville musicians, performing the music of Jamiroquai.

Hailing from Asheville, NC, the Space Cowboys & the Cosmic Girls are the South’s premiere Jamiroquai Tribute. An 11 piece collective of musicians from diverse backgrounds form this dance-funk powerhouse. Many members come, or came from other Asheville groups such as Empire Strikes Brass, Jahman Brahman, Deja Fuze, Sister Ivy, Gruda Tree, Story Daniels, Plankeye Peggy, and Skunk Ruckus.

the Space Cowboys & the Cosmic Girls have packed venues and rocked festival stages in North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee. Some of the prominent venues the band has played include the Asheville Music Hall, Lake Eden Arts Festival, Boone In Blossom, The Visulite Theatre, and the Mothlight. With a powerful stage presence and a full spectrum of sound, the Space Cowboys & the Cosmic Girls deliver explosive and memorable performances.

Maryland rockers Clutch have been pushing the boundaries of heavy rock music since the 4 original members got together in high school. Having been tagged hard rock, blues rock, southern stoner rock and alternative metal by media and fans across the world it is safe to say one thing… “What you see is what you get” and what you get is a musical force that has been best described as the quintessential American Rock Band. Clutch quickly became known for their relentless touring schedules, playing shows from whiskey stained 2 door venues in the hills of West Virginia to the iconic Brixton Academy in the UK. Whatever the venue, and wherever rock fans congregate Clutch has played there. The band has shared stages with Lamb of God to Iron Maiden, Primus to Thin Lizzy, Mastodon to Motörhead. What has come of it is a cult-like International fan base, not to mention praise from all corners of the music world.

Jamie Laval’s Celtic Christmas captures the beauty and atmosphere of Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, and Iceland during the holidays. An entertaining and thought-provoking family holiday experience, the show weaves a tapestry of music, dance, poetry, and stories which hearken back to the ancient Celtic celebrations associated with the Winter Solstice and Christmas.

Headlining the show is Tryon-based violinist and storyteller Jamie Laval who in 2002 won the U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Championship. He has performed for Her Majesty The Queen, appeared on the NBC Today show, and presented a TEDx Talk. Laval’s recent album Murmurs and Drones won the popular vote for “Best World Traditional Album” in the 2012 Independent Music Awards.

Joining Jamie is a superlative vocalist and several nationally-acclaimed performers of Celtic harp, woodwinds, guitar, Irish step dancing.
