The Enka-Candler Friends of the Library are hosting their big book sale in the library community room! Purchase books, DVDs, music, tote bags, and t-shirts. All purchases go to the Friends of the Library who co-sponsor Enka-Candler Library programs and materials.

Come check out our Rock Academy bands with performers ranging in age from elementary school thru high school as they perform“Decades of Hits” from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. The Asheville Rock Academy’s talented students have played many high profile gigs, including the Main Stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Academy bands have also played with Cliff Williams of AC/DC, Victor Wooten and American Idol’s Caleb Johnson.
GTTM has served the Asheville Community for over 16 years and has helped hundreds of WNC Students discover the joy of music by raising more than $275,000 providing for scholarships to fund private music lessons, Rock Academy band lessons, summer camps, and musical instruments.

We are so excited to celebrate once again on Thursday, July 4th, 2024, with good food for a great cause!
The continued political unrest and instability have brought devastating ongoing hardship to the people of Haiti. Despite all of this, our mission to help the children of Haiti with sustainable food, clean water, and medical care has not changed in fact we need your help now more than ever before!
You can be a part of helping our program children and have loads of fun while you’re at it!

Through the generosity of Siemens Family Law Group, the Patton Parker House, Downtown Asheville Racing Club (DARC), the Charlotte Street Business Association we are offering multiple bike ride options for both individuals and families.

You can purchase tickets to just ride or join us for our meal at 6:00 PM too.

All proceeds from this event will go to Consider Haiti to help us meet our yearly budget goals!
Our July 4th picnic starts at 6:00 pm on the Patton Parker House lawn. With gorgeous views of downtown Asheville’s skyline and the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s the perfect way to celebrate with friends and family under the stars.
The meal will be catered by the always fabulous Chop Shop Butchery and will include:

Spend the day in beautiful Black Mountain and visit the Friends of the Library Book Sale in the Black Mountain Library Community Room (105 N. Dougherty St., Black Mountain, NC 28711) from 10-1 on Saturday, August 10. We have a great selection of adult, vintage, young adult and children’s books, puzzles, and much more. And our prices are unbeatable! A bag of adult books of your choice is $5.00, while children’s books are 2 for $1.00. Members of the Friends of the Black Mountain Library can enjoy early bird shopping at 9:30. SERVICE AREA: State of North Carolina – Eliada serves more than 500 children annually through 5 key programs that provide a place to live, education, special education, food and clothing, and intensive therapy to children who need these services. While most children are from Buncombe and surrounding counties, Eliada serves children from all corners of NC.

The Friends of the Black Mountain Library are pleased to again participate in the Antiques and Collectibles Sale sponsored by the Swannanoa Valley Museum. The antique sale will be held at the Monte Vista Hotel on Saturday August 17, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. FOL will be selling antique books, ephemera, and other related items. This is the perfect opportunity to shop for one of a kind holiday gifts or to add to your personal library! Join us for a day of treasure hunting and fun!
