Join the Blue Ridge Audubon, a chapter of the National Audubon Society for their monthly bird walk at Jackson Park, a renowned birding location. On the 2nd Saturday of each month, meet at the Administration Building parking lot, located on Glover Street, and join the group to see the many wonderful birds found at Jackson Park, Hendersonville’s largest park.
We will meet at High Five Coffee on Riverside Drive. If you’d like coffee, we’ll be there 30 minutes earlier for a meet & greet!
Once the coffee has warmed us up, you can expect the schedule to be:
1. Intro Circle sharing your name, where you’re from, fun fact about you, and what brought you to share in the experience.
2. We will walk along the River, sharing what an expedition mindset is and how it can help with everyday stresses and challenges.
3. Back in a circle, we will teach you how to use FABCs (Feel, About, Belief, Choice) to express how you’re feeling.
3. Each person will get an opportunity to practice active listening and feel heard.
4. We will have a clinic showing you how to strike a fire with metal and quartz. No lighters are required!

Jazz Sunday at One World Brewing West is a modern jazz jam held every Sunday afternoon from 1-4pm. Previously known as Jazz Monday, the jam has been running non stop since July, 2018 at the West Asheville brewery and is hosted weekly by The Fully Vaccinated Jazz Trio, consisting of Ray Ring on guitar, Jason DeCristofaro on drums, piano and vibraphone, and Connor Law on bass. Jazz Sunday typically features a guest artist for a short set and then welcomes jazz musicians of all levels to sit in for the remainder of the afternoon on One World’s spacious outdoor stage.

One of rock music’s most original and uncompromising groups is also one of its longest-lasting: founded in 1969 by guitarist Robert Fripp, King Crimson has changed the landscape of modern music more than a few times during its on-and-off existence. Fripp is the band’s sole mainstay; more than 20 musicians have passed through its ranks.
But some of the most groundbreaking and important musicians – especially in progressive rock – have been members of King Crimson: Greg Lake (ELP), Ian McDonald (Foreigner), John Wetton (UK, Asia), Bill Bruford (Yes), Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) Boz Burrell (Bad Company), Adrian Belew (Talking Heads, David Bowie), Pat Mastelotto (Mr. Mister, Stick Men) and Tony Levin are just a few.
The ever-changing King Crimson ushered in the progressive rock era at the end of the ‘60s, pioneered progressive metal in the 1970s, combined “worldbeat” textures with Western music in ‘80s and explored industrial and post-rock styles in the 1990s and beyond. On the occasion of the group’s 50th anniversary, filmmaker Toby Amies set out to make a documentary exploring the history of the band.
The resulting motion picture is as odd, idiosyncratic, challenging and ultimately entertaining as King Crimson itself. As the press kit for In the Court of the Crimson King: King Crimson at 50 asserts:
What began as a straightforward documentary about the cult rock band
King Crimson as it turned 50, mutated into an exploration of time, death,
family, and the transcendent power of music to change lives. But with jokes.
Hosted by Asheville-based author and music journalist Bill Kopp, Grail Moviehouse presents a special screening of the film on Monday, December 12 @ 7pm and sponsored by AshevilleFM. After a brief introduction, we’ll watch the film together. And then afterward, we’ll engage in a moderated discussion about King Crimson.
The event is the first in a planned series of Music Movie Mondays at Grail Moviehouse. We’ll watch and discuss new releases, classics and cult favorites.

Join us at TFAC for the 2022/23 Capers & Heists Series, kicking off in October with The Sting. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. for fun and mingling.
The film starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets will be available to purchase online or at the door and concessions will be available.
Tickets are $8/person per film or $58/Season Ticket.

Join Namaste in Nature for a reflective meditation walk off the beaten path and away from the crowds. De-stress on this hike focused on connecting with yourself and the natural world. This fall mindfulness experience will center on rest and reflection as winter falls on the Park.
The annual Swannanoa Winterfest will bring the sights and sounds of the season to Grovemont Square (adjacent to the Swannanoa Library, 101 West Charleston Ave.) on Saturday, December 17th, from 3 – 8 pm. Modeled on traditional European holiday markets, the Swannanoa Winterfest will feature a variety of artisans and vendors selling holiday-themed items. Delicious food and hot drinks will be available for purchase. Warm your hands over a fire while enjoying caroling, entertainment on the pavilion stage, festive holiday lights, and even a visit from Olaf the Snowman! This free event is brought to you by the Swannanoa Community Council, Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS) and Friends of the Swannanoa Library.
