You guys loved it so much last time, we just couldn’t help ourselves! Celebration Commune is honoring our 1-year anniversary with by hosting, once again, our completely FREE event: a day full of workshops, vendors, information sharing tables all centered on contemplation, connection, and compassion.
We have spent the last year building, learning, and actualizing our potential as an organization. This event is a culmination of our first year’s efforts towards synchronization. Celebration Day’s goal is to bring together multiple generations of people from all parts of Asheville to gain understanding of ~Why Community Matters~. We are providing the space for various local wellness groups, artists, people in-tuned with their spirituality, bodies, and environment; to share their knowledge or message or crafts. We have built our own community from the ground up and invite you to experience the progression which we continue to embody.
It is so simple that it’s brilliance cannot be over-stated: human beings are interdependent on one another for our collective survival! We thrive through community over competition. And people who have their eyes open to the state of the world right now will deeply benefit from the activities and workshops during this event. Access your inner child at the same time you are accessing your ancestral wisdom. Have a ton of fun while generating relationships with passionate and driven individuals and organizations. Learn how we, Celebration, make it work as a residential living community geared towards unlocking each person’s highest potential.
We will love to have you in our home and hope to see you there!
A full line-up of the schedule, the vendors, and the organizations involved will be posted in the coming days.
Parking will not be at our property, an in-depth parking map will follow soon as well.
Saturday, August 10th from 11am-sundown. Free event, but there will be goods and services as well so bring energy to exchange (trades and barters are generously accepted, money is good as well)
Love and light to YOU !

Please join us the morning of August 10th from 10am-11am for
the unveiling of “Going to Market,” Art Installation by local artist
Cleaster Cotton on the Beaumont Street wall. This art is a gift from
the developers of 55 South Market to the residents of the building.
We appreciate you and look forward to celebrating.
There’s more than Chunky Monkey and New York Super Fudge Chunk in downtown Asheville’s Ben & Jerry’s this summer.
Art created by Vance Elementary School fifth grade students of art educator Robbie Lipe is now on display on the brick walls opposite the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. The exhibit depicts the students’ interpretation of the artist Kehinde Wiley and the contemporary portraits he creates inspired by traditional Baroque paintings. It will be featured through the end of the summer.
“Ben & Jerry’s is excited about showcasing art from the community inside our scoop shop,” said general manager Chris Carter. “Making use of our walls to show what local artists are creating complements our social mission — to be actively involved in the places we live and do business. I hope this is the first of many art exhibits on our walls.”
Carter gave all the credit for the exhibit to Ms. Lipe, who teaches kindergarten through 5th-grade students at Vance Elementary. She was named the North Carolina Arts Educators Association “Art Educator of the Year” in 2017-2018.
Ben & Jerry’s is located at 19 Haywood Street. Current hours are Monday-Thursday 12 pm to 10 pm; Friday 12 pm – 11 pm; Saturday 11:30 am – 11 pm; Sunday 11:30 am – 10 pm.
For more information, call Carter at 310-601-6247.
Qigong (alternatively spelled chi gung or chi kung) is a form of gentle exercise composed of movements that are repeated a number of times, often stretching the body, increasing fluid movement (blood, synovial and lymph) and building awareness of how the body moves through space.
The classes and the introduction to Qigong will be taught by Dr. John Akers.
Dr. Akers is a recently retired Wofford language professor and classical guitarist who has taught wellness classes at Wofford, the Spartanburg YMCA, and Zen Garden. Dr. Akers played and coached collegiate soccer, has practiced meditation over 40 years, and teaches a daily routine of yoga and core strengthening enhanced by Qigong energy play. Dr. Akers is also an avid golfer committed to carrying his own clubs, without a cart.

Celebrate hit songs made famous by Elvis Presley at the Flat Rock Playhouse in the upcoming production, All Shook Up! A famous Broadway musical hit, All Shook Up combines the hilarity of Shakespearean comedies, such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with the rock & roll music of Elvis Presley. In a musical presentation akin to Godspell and Footloose, this jukebox musical tells the story of a small-town girl with big dreams, a stick-in-the-mud mayor who has squashed any fun in her town, and the surprise visit of a leather-jacketed, guitar-playing, hip-swinging stranger. Experience the magic of rock & roll, gospel, romance, mistaken identities alongside Broadway-caliber musical numbers and hits such as, “Love Me Tender,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Can’t Help Falling In Love”.
