The Artist Support Grant supports emerging and established artists taking the next steps in their career, with grants ranging from $500-$3,000. Funded by the North Carolina Arts Council, this regional grant program supports artists in creating work, improving business operations, or bringing work to new audiences. Region 17 is led by Haywood County Arts Council and supports artists in Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Polk, Rutherford, and Transylvania counties. The application cycle opens late July and closes in early September.
The Grassroots Arts Program provides programmatic and operating support for nonprofit arts organizations across all 100 counties in North Carolina through partnerships with local arts councils. Special consideration is given to multicultural programs and organizations outside of the City of Asheville. Grants range from $2,500-$7,50. Applications open August 15 and close September 16.

Make a Difference in the Lives of Adult Cancer Survivors:
Did you know almost 2 million new cases of cancer were diagnosed in the United States in 2023 alone? Each year, millions of people are directly impacted by cancer with an estimated almost 40% of Americans being diagnosed with cancer at some point during their lifetimes.
For those who’ve heard the dreaded three words “You have cancer,” their lives have changed forever, and their new journey is often filled with tears, worry, isolation, and heartache. At Camp Bluebird, we want to help survivors realize their story is not over when they get their diagnosis, they have merely started writing a new chapter…one filled with resilience, hope, and a new sense of determination. And most importantly, we want them to know they are not alone in this journey.
A camp dedicated to survivors and their journeys of healing and hope…What is Camp Bluebird?
Camp Bluebird is a 3-day, 2-night camp where survivors join together for companionship, arts, wellness and therapeutic activities, and even a DJ dance party! Our camp is designed to empower survivors on their journeys of healing and rediscovery while making lifelong friendships.
This year’s camp will take place September 10-12, 2024 at the Bonclarken Conference Center in historic Flat Rock, NC.
We hope you will consider helping as we reach more campers and make a greater impact in the survivor community!

Spend 2+ hours as a jeweler!
Work with silver wire to create a set of three textured stacking rings. Learn the techniques you need to fuse the silver, hammer, and stamp to your liking, and we’ll then polish the rings to a nice shine. Leave class feeling accomplished and ready to show off your work!
You will use a torch! (Don’t be intimidated, our highly skilled and fun instructors will walk you through it!)
Please wear close-toed shoes and tie long hair back for safety. All tools and materials needed for class will be provided.

Wednesday’s 5:30 pm-8:30 pm Aug 28 – Nov 20, 2024
The course is an immersive and transformative journey designed to unleash and nourish your inner creativity. Developed by renowned author and creativity expert Julia Cameron, this course offers a structured and supportive framework to help individuals from all walks of life rediscover their artistic passions, overcome creative blocks, and foster a deeper connection with their creative selves.
Each week, participants engage in a series of guided exercises, reflective journaling, and group discussions that encourage self-exploration, self-expression, and personal growth. Through a combination of artist dates, daily morning pages, and weekly reading, participants gradually break through self-doubt, negative patterns, and external limitations, allowing their unique artistic voices to flourish and thrive. Whether you’re a seasoned artist seeking to reignite your inspiration or a newcomer looking to explore your creative potential, the Artist’s Way course provides a nurturing and empowering environment to rekindle your creative flame and embark on a transformative creative odyssey.
Robin and Samata will facilitate a safe and nurturing environment for you to embark on your creative journey through the Artist’s way. Together they have over 50 years of experience leading groups and facilitating meaningful experiences.
Join us for this fun filled and always popular in-person annual summer series! Classes will meet weekly and will cover topics including: the wise woman tradition of healing, summer skin care, herbal support for stress, the medicinal uses of popular garden plants, wild weeds, kitchen remedies and much more. This course will also include an introduction both essential oils and flower essences. Throughout this course you will form intimate relationships with over 20 popular herbal remedies.
Support a child in learning to read! Read to Succeed volunteer reading tutors teach elementary students to read using phonological awareness and phonics curricula that aligns with Asheville City and Buncombe County Schools instruction. Tutors attend 6+ hours of training and work one-to-one or in small groups with elementary students throughout the school year (during and after school).
