Who Should Attend?
Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. It is
designed to teach parents, family members, teachers, school staff, school nurses, coaches, church leaders,
health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is
experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.
What is the Course Content?
Introduction to common mental health challenges for youth
Review of typical adolescent development
5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
Topics discussed include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive
behavior disorders (including ADD/ADHD), and eating disorders.
$50 Registration includes Youth Mental Health First Aid Participant Manual.

This community wide celebration of art and craft includes hot glass blowing demos at Crucible Glassworks on the hour sat and sun. Guest artist Jay Pfeil will be at Crucible, with her fantastic plein air etchings and engravings

It is a one-part car-free block party and an invitation to try out the new and improved Coxe Avenue! The Street Tweaks Team has reimagined four city blocks to be more inviting and safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and car traffic, using inventive temporary materials and on-street art. With this open-streets-style debut celebration, you’re invited to play in the street with non-car wheels, feet and creativity. Bike parking available in front of Urban Orchard on Buxton Ave. Help roll out the good vibes!

Asheville Community Yoga is excited to once again be partnering with Veterans Yoga Project, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit that supports our Nations Veterans by teaching self-regulation skills, creating opportunities for healing through multi-day retreats, and by providing advanced training in Mindful Resilience for yoga teachers and healthcare professionals. We are honored to support such an incredible cause.
During Veterans Gratitude Week we will be offering two donation based classes, $5-$15 suggested, with 100% of proceeds supporting Veterans Yoga Project.

Wreaths Across America fundraiser at Sam’s Club In Hendersonville. We will be there Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Stop by and sponsor a wreath to be laid upon a veterans grave in Black Mountain on December 15. Wreaths are $15. All proceeds go to a great cause: Veterans services and our local Civil Air Patrol cadet program.

CoThinkk is a “giving circle” that uses our collective time, talent, and treasure towards investment strategies that address education, economic mobility/opportunity, and leadership development towards impacting some of the most critical social issues facing African-American & Latinx communities in Asheville and Western NC.
This meeting will be a reflection space for our October Annual Event and strategic planning session for our future.
This meeting will provide an opportunity for us to continue to move our collective agenda, plot out next steps in our committees: our February Member Mixer/Fundraiser, a Capacity Building Workshop, and planning On-Boarding for new members.
We are encouraging existing and new members to bring others with you as we move into the next leg of our journey as 2018 comes to an end!
