Asheville Outlets will host the Annual Boo Bash Halloween event on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Families will enjoy free Trick-or-Treating around the center, strolling magic, music and more! TapSnap Phototainment will also be onsite with a festive photo booth, where guests can receive one free 4” by 6” photo and digital download of a single image (while supplies last). October is National Archives Month and Buncombe County Special Collections is celebrating with a spooky scary dive into the archives for two special events at East Asheville Library. Trunk of Troubles will share basic care and storage tips for family documents and photographs, and Spine-Chilling Special Collections puts archival horrors on display for Halloween.

Join us for a night of historical spine-chilling fun. Explore the creepier side of Special Collections with your friends and family. The East Asheville Library activity room will be frightfully full of displays of some of our favorite spooky specimens, collections of haunted tales, and eye-popping examples of archival frights. We’ll have tricks and treats too.

The Canton Merchant Partnership will be hosting its annual spooktacular night of fun and Trick-or-Treating on Main Street, so bring your little ghosts and goblins for this safe family event.

Ben’s Backdraft BBQ and Sticky 8’s will be moving down from Main St. to provide food for purchase at the movie! Feel free to bring your own movie snacks as well!

COSTUME CONTEST INFORMATION

This year there will be a selfie station set up between Papertown Coffee and Grateful Table with a QR code to scan and submit your photo to the Canton Merchant Partnership Facebook page. There will be prizes awarded for best family, best adult, best teen 12-17, best kid 7-11, best child 2-6, and best infant.

PARKING INFORMATION

The Academy Street, Champion Mortgage, and Smathers lot will be blocked off for event use. You will find parking available across from Sorrells Street Park on Main St and Park St.

Great news for poets and poetry lovers: Dark City Poet’s Society is returning to the Black Mountain Library. DCPS is a completely free poetry group that is open to poets of all ages and experience levels. I would like to add my two cents to the reviews you’ve received so far regarding your new location and what it offers the horror fans when they visit the Graveyard. You have improved your haunt by miles. Yes, outdoors is unique and fun. But what you offer here is a chance to re-live scenes out of some of the best horror films ever made such as Nightmare On Elm Street with Freddy in person and Jason at Crystal Lake. You will not be disappointed when you make the trip to Canton to see for yourself. What the visiting folks don’t know is how much you put into making this new indoor haunt and what was developed in a very short time. The scenes you created like the Michael Myers house and the Pennywise scene is out of sight! I just viewed that scene clearly depicted to a “T”. It is truly a great place to visit. Congratulations to all of the cast that made it special. Especially the Michael Myers scene….after all, I know it well. Can’t wait to come back!
