This Halloween we celebrate October 28th, 2023.
The bar crawl consists of visiting several bars in the city, each with its unique Halloween drink specials, decor, and spooky surprises. From ghostly cocktails to pumpkin beer, each bar offers a special drink to fit the Halloween theme. Don’t get caught in cobwebs, get scared by skeletons or spooky lighting which will be all over this Halloween.
One of our most exciting parts of the event is the costume contest. Participants come dressed in their scariest or most creative costumes, and the winner receives a prize. What will you come up with? We love the creativeness from classic costumes like zombies and ghosts to more modern costumes, you name it, we want to see it.

Join us on a walking tour of the Foundy in the River Arts District where we learn about the only existing Street Art Gallery in Asheville and all the artists who have created graffiti and mural installations that have made our town an urban art destination.

Come dressed as your favorite character and partake in tasty beverages, silent disco, and even silent raffles to benefit the local Reeves Cove community and minimize the impact of future development. $5 suggested donation at the door, $5 suggested donation for silent disco headphones. Looking for a spooky fright? Meet ghosts and ghouls and visions of things that go bump in the night at the Haunted Castle on the Hill. This can’t-miss haunted house tends to be on the spooky side, so it’s not recommended for those who scare easily. For more info, call 828-350-2058.

The Greenville-centric story opens on Halloween night. While most families make their rounds through the well-known neighborhoods, a handful of kids break off from the group. Hoping to reveal an unspoken Greenville secret, they head to an abandoned mansion along the Reedy River. They knock on the door, and after no answer, a brave little girl says, “Let’s go!” and pushes it open. Lightning flashes to reveal a silhouette of a couple who dance a pas de deux to a string quartet medley of several Michael Jackson-inspired tunes. Music By Michael Jackson and Choreography by Hernan Justo.

ACT’s Horror Movie Tune-Up is an immersive theatrical experience brimming with frights and delights. We’ll play the non-musical version of Little Shop of Horrors (1960) on the big screen with an added twist: interruptions of live musical performances and games. But the fun doesn’t stop there — costumes are required! So… come dressed to possess and you could win spooktacular prizes.

Inside, you’ll find monster munchies, two adult beverages of your choice,  and a little Halloween magic to help you get into the perfect spooky mood for the night. Twenty-six artists and craftspeople—21 who live in Beaverdam Valley plus 5 invited guest artists—are excited to welcome visitors to view their handmade artwork. Media include ceramics, painting, jewelry, sculpture, book art, textiles, photography, glass, mixed media, and more. Visitors come from Asheville, from over 15 states, and from cities and towns all over North Carolina. What they have in common is an appreciation for art and craft.
This year we have multiple artists in several locations—26 artists in only 17 sites—making this tour easy to see and easy to navigate. We hope you come out and visit all the talented artists. All studios are off Beaverdam Road, reached from Merrimon Avenue in north Asheville. This summer, tour maps will be available online and in our brochure. Visitors can learn more about our two-day, self-directed, geographically convenient tour, and view artists’ work on our website, in our brochure, in print and online advertising, and in articles. Take a 90-plus minute stroll along 7th Avenue/Historic Depot District, where the action was when the first steam engine locomotives rolled into town starting in 1879 bringing hundreds of tourists. The Pumpkin Pedaller, presented by Industry Nine, is Asheville on Bikes’ (AoB) annual costumed community ride. The event is hosted at New Belgium Brewing on Saturday, Oct 28th.

End of Year Giving Goal

The Pumpkin Pedaller kicks off our end of year giving goal.  Our goal is to raise $150,000 by January 1, 2023.

Pumpkin Pedaller Event schedule:

There are 2 routes from which to choose:

1. Cruiser Route – 4 miles on mostly protected bike facilities.
2. Main Route – 12 miles on a mix of bike facilities and active roads w/ a few climbs.
