Sandburg Home Tours – Thursday to Sunday at 11am, 1pm, 2pm.

The Sandburg Home is a great place to start your visit! The ground floor of the home contains visitor information, exhibits, tour ticket sales, the park store, and you can watch the park video. The main and top level of the home are furnished with the Sandburg family belongings. Visitors may only access the furnished ares of the home on a guided tour.

• Tour Reservations: Reserving in advance lets you pick your preferred house tour time. Tours fill up quickly. Last-minute, in-person tickets may not be available on the day you visit. Plan ahead and reserve house tour tickets at recreation.gov.

• Passes: The park does not currently sell the America the Beautiful– National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Passes.
  *These passes do not waive the house tour fee, but do provide a discount.
  *You can purchase a pass online at America the Beautiful – National Parks & Federal Recreational Lands Annual Pass | USGS Store.
• 30-minute house tours are offered year-round, schedule varies by season. Visit recreation.gov for the current schedule.
• Visitors may only tour the Sandburg Home on a guided tour.
• Tours are limited to 6 persons.
• Strollers are not permitted on the house tour, but there is a place to leave them for storage. Infants and small children should be carried through the house while on tour.

Join us on a walking tour of the Foundy in the River Arts District where we learn about the only existing Street Art Gallery in Asheville and all the artists who have created graffiti and mural installations that have made our town an urban art destination.

Take in the Museum’s Collection of American art of the 20th and 21st centuries, exploring the connection between art and artists of Western North Carolina / Southern Appalachia and the US at large. Free for Museum Members or included with general admission; registration is not required.

Land of Sky Regional Council will offer a tour of each county in our region with a focus on how we can work together to protect the French Broad River while supporting the growth and development of region.

Join us at the SAHC Community Farm for Part Two of this special Lunch & Learn series to hike along our Discovery Trail and spend extra time at the Utopian Seed Project’s experimental farm plots. During this visit you will have the opportunity to see the crops that are growing and hear from Utopian Seed Project Executive Director and Founder Chris Smith about his vision for an engaged community of growers, gardeners, farmers, foodies, cooks, chefs and everyone who embraces regional biodiversity and believe in a resilient, delicious and equitable food and farming system. This outing is Part 2 of a 2-part series, with a Virtual Lunch and Learn on Tuesday, September 19 at 12:00 p.m. You are not required to sign up for both, but it is recommended. Register separately for the virtual introductory program HERE. Our Community Farm is a 140-acre educational and working farm just outside Asheville. The farm is a continually evolving home for conservation projects and agricultural production. Highlighted by our stream restoration project, shortleaf pine reforestation project, farm incubator program, silvopasture project, and education center, there is always something new to see. Participants can hike The Discovery Trail in a 2.5-mile loop allowing us to view all of the amazing farm projects before returning to the parking area. Or you can just visit the first part of the tour and return to the parking lot. The walk from the parking lot to the farm plot is about 10-15 minutes on a relatively flat trail. Participants are welcome to bring snacks and water to enjoy as we venture across the farm property. Please note that our Community Farm is an active farm not open to the public unless accompanied by SAHC staff. To ensure safety, staff capacity, and a positive experience for everyone involved it is critical that ALL hike participants pre-register for events before visiting the farm. You will receive an email with specific information about where to meet on the farm and other necessary details. If you do not receive this email, as well as a confirmation email following your registration, we do not have you registered for the hike. The majority of this hike is not disability accessible. HOST Morgan Marie is an Asheville based comic capturing the playful and often painful parallels between adolescence and “almost-adulthood.” Vibrant yet vulnerable; her high-energy storytelling is influenced by her background as an improviser. She writes a monthly beloved humor column, “Best Medicine with Morgan Marie,” for the Mountain Xpress.

Jess Cooley is a writer and stand up comic from Upstate South Carolina, where he learned how to walk, and talk, and eat food like a real boy. Currently based in Asheville, NC, his comedy involves personal subjects like Autism, religion, and the loss of his favorite sex toy during a home invasion. His unique and colorful perspective brings his stories to life, and his demons to the spotlight.

The Haywood County Studio Tour is a two-day self-guided tour where hundreds of visitors are invited into artists’ studios to meet the artist, view demonstrations, and buy art. Studios are sprinkled throughout all of Haywood County bringing visitors to diverse locales both urban and rural. Studios will be open Saturday, September 23 from 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday, September 25 from noon to 4 pm and feature thirty-eight artists in twenty studios
