If so, then join us at Asheville Outlets (ShopAshevilleOutlets.com) for Cruise ‘In, a monthly car show featuring an exciting display of cars, trucks, motorcycles and special interest vehicles behind the Food Court on Sundays, May 19, June 16, July 21, August 18, September 15, October 20 and November 17, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Cruise ‘In is free to car owners and spectators.

The family’s clothing and accessories weave together the roles of Carl Sandburg as a prominent writer, celebrity, father, and husband. This temporary exhibit offers an exciting opportunity for the public to view objects that are normally in storage or in the possession of Sandburg family members. Tours of the Sandburg Home are offered daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Tickets are available first come, first served, each day from the visitor information area in the ground level of the Sandburg Home.
Nearly every room in the historically furnished house museum will be included in the exhibit. Visitors will see the characteristic scarves Carl Sandburg wore as he played his guitar and sang folk songs to entertain his family and guests, the dress Lilian Sandburg wore to meet President Lyndon B. Johnson, and many other mid-century pieces worn by the Sandburgs and their daughters. Historic photographs, paired with the clothing, will provide context.
Ahead of the big rivalry game next Saturday, Clemson will first go head-to-head with South Carolina in another competition. For the 35th time, the two schools will go compete in the Annual Blood Bowl to see which university can get the most people to donate blood (and save the most lives). Endorsed by All-American Running Back CJ Spiller, The Blood Connection will host several blood drives around Clemson’s campus to help CU bring home the win! That means when donors give blood with TBC, it stays local, saving the lives of neighbors and fellow Clemson Tigers. TBC needs around 600 donations a day to maintain a steady supply for local hospitals. Be a team player and save lives with TBC during Blood Bowl week! Let’s beat USC!
Since 2010 master scientific glass blower, Jason Probstein has been presenting live glassblowing demonstrations here at our art gallery.
And once again we are proud to announce that Jason will be blowing his unique Christmas ornaments and glass artworks here at Mountain Made gallery from now to December 23rd, 2019.
Jason will be demonstrating Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. He will also be blowing glass every Sunday from Noon to 2:00 PM.

Experience the Block is an ongoing awareness effort and capital campaign to honor and celebrate the vibrant history and prosperous future of the Eagle Market Street community.
To kick off this campaign, Eagle Market Streets Development Corporation and Mountain Housing Opportunities are collaboratively hosting the Experience the Block. These organizations are partners unified with a common goal to bring safe, attractive, affordable housing and commercial lease space to the Eagle Market Streets neighborhood. area. This event will celebrate the revitalization efforts recently completed and pay homage to the individuals and businesses that have helped establish and grow this area into a modern, dynamic urban community.
Come tour the new Eagle Market Place apartments, explore the Isaiah Rice Photography exhibit, attend our celebratory ribbon cutting, and enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages at the YMI Cultural Center.
The community is invited to attend Voter ID Public Seminars. Beginning in 2020, voters will be required to provide photo identification before they vote. This includes both in-person and by-mail voting, with some exceptions. The Buncombe County Board of Elections is teaming up with the libraries to hold educational seminars about voter photo identification requirements. The seminars are free and open to the public.

Dustin Clemons, RADTIP Construction Manager, will be joining us to talk about a plan for improving the RR crossing on Riverside Drive. Your perspective on this difficult bit of infrastructure is important.
The task force meets the third Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in room A-109 at the City of Asheville Public Works Building at 161 S. Charlotte Street. You can enter the building from the north end, the end where you find the parking lot and bike rack.
Join us for an evening of singing with WACC director Suzannah Park. Come learn some songs, laugh and connect with community and see what singing with WACC is all about.

Shop at Barnes & Noble Asheville and Support Students in Buncombe County
Starting November 1st and running through December 31st, Barnes & Noble Booksellers at the Asheville Mall is hosting a book drive so customers can easily donate books to local middle school youth. It’s such a simple and needed way to support local students. You can simply purchase the books while doing your holiday shopping, leave them with your cashier at check-out, then we will collect the books at the end of the month and distribute them to commmunity partners and students throughout Asheville and Buncombe County.
You can also drop off new, unwrapped books at our office located on 50 South French Broad Avenue in Asheville. If you do, please drop them off by December 10 so we can wrap them up for distribution.

Why: With Asheville ranked as one of the most unaffordable* places to live in North Carolina,
thousands struggle to afford a decent place to live in Buncombe County, and for low-income
individuals and families it’s nearly impossible. Thanks to generous sponsors, community
volunteers and a unique model, Habitat provides eligible individuals and families the
opportunity for affordable homeownership. Habitat homeowners- who would not qualify for a
traditional mortgage- contribute at least 200 hours of “sweat equity” (volunteer work) and then
repay an affordable mortgage to Asheville Habitat. Habitat then uses the mortgage payments
to build more houses. Families in stable and affordable housing experience better education,
health, and socioeconomic outcomes than those who lack decent housing.
About Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity
We will host the Downtown Local Lights lighting ceremony, as well as offer free photos with Santa and Mrs Claus. We’ll light up the park at 6pm after a brief ceremony. We’ll also have free crafts with the LEAF Easel Rider.

The Survivors’ Art Show features art work from Our VOICE clients and others in our community who have been affected by sexual violence. Our VOICE is proud to offer the opportunity for those impacted by sexual assault and abuse a channel through which they can share their experiences and heal through the powerful vehicle of art.

Available on Thursdays through Saturdays only, this special ticketed event offers visitors the chance to enjoy a holly, jolly ride from downtown Asheville or Biltmore Village to Winter Lights courtesy of The Trolley Company. Upon arrival, guests will receive a complimentary cup of hot chocolate and access to the Winter Lights. Pick-up is at 6:00 p.m. from the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Asheville and 6:15 p.m. from the DoubleTree Hotel in Biltmore Village.
