Free Technology Workshop Lead by “Rent a Millennial” Topic: The Cloud September 27th, 1-2pm Registration is required. They focus on broad spectrum of digital technologies including; computer repair, networking, smart appliances, home theaters, mobile devices and more. Founded by a Weaverville native, the company’s mission is to get the technology you already own to work the way you want. About Flyin’ West: Dive into the rich narrative of Flyin’ West, a compelling, crowd-pleasing drama by esteemed playwright Pearl Cleage. Set in the 1890s, the story unfolds in the historic town of Nicodemus, Kansas, one of the many all-black towns established in the American West following the Civil War. Through the eyes of four African-American women, the play delves into their journey of resilience and aspiration as they navigate their lives against the backdrop of the harsh realities of the frontier and the societal constraints of the era. What to expect:
Since project work takes place asynchronously—individually and in smaller squads—the goals of our monthly gatherings are to:
- build relationships and learn about each other’s skills, interests and goals,
- learn what we are doing across the organization (project updates),
- provide opportunities to get involved with and/or initiate projects, and
- shape where we are going as an organization, co-creating the culture and course of our work together.
In this meeting, we will:
- gather virtually using Zoom for group video chat,
- do brief introductions, with a prompt,
- share updates about the projects that we’re working on, highlighting deliverables for the next month and areas where additional resources would be useful, and
- discuss proposals and new opportunities to engage with local government and community organizations.
It isn’t all glamorous, but the stakes are low for showing up and we’d be delighted to join together with you in this work.
Advanced PacJAM students are invited to audition for this new track designed to help grow their musical potential. PacJAM Performers will be best prepared to represent PacJAM bands that play throughout the region and in esteemed music festivals.
Advanced students are invited to audition on January 15 to be a part of this extensive new track designed to enhance and grow their musical potential. Instruction will get underway on Monday, January 22 and continue through Monday, April 22.
As with any coordinated group activity, multiple and extra coached sessions per week are optimal for best results. Work will be done in small group ensembles to help develop their abilities and repertoire for performing in PacJAM bands throughout the region.
Classes are $12/session for a total of $168 per student, with a 20-percent discount of $134 for each additional sibling. Parents may choose to split payments when registering. Experienced Auditioners: Please come prepared with a resume, headshot, and a one-minute monologue if you have them. If you plan to audition for the musical, please also prepare 16-32 bars of a song and bring sheet music or prerecorded tracks. You may also be asked to read sides at the auditions.
Less-Experienced Auditioners: If you’re new to auditioning, and you don’t have the items above prepared, we’ll provide sides for you to read at auditions. Sides are excerpts from the script. If you’d like to audition for the musical you can prepare part of a song without accompaniment.
If you wish to submit a video audition, please send an acting reel or filmed monologue, your headshot, your resume, and 16-32 bars of song (if auditioning for Ordinary Days) to [email protected] by January 21, 2024.
