For several years, fans of the AGB have enjoyed a “potluck Sunday”. However in our current times, a potluck is not the safest choice for everyone. In place, the AGB provides burgers, dogs, and bbq fixin’s at no charge for the AGB family, cooked and served by several dedicated volunteers following safe food handling guidelines. We only ask that you put some money in the tip jar to offset costs.

Bring a chair and a friend and share in the groove provided by a variety of players and different jams. One never knows who might show up to play!

The bar will be serving beer, wine and drinks in a limited capacity in accordance with the current North Carolina mandate. PLEASE NOTE: NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL OR BEVERAGES WILL BE ALLOWED ONTO THE ASHEVILLE GUITAR BAR PROPERTY AS DESIGNATED BY THE ROPED OFF AREA.

A tip jar will be available to support the performers and help the bar continue to produce more shows. There is also a “virtual” tip jar available if you do not have cash but still wish to support the bar and performers with a donation. You can donate via Venmo: @AshevilleGuitarBar, via PayPal: [email protected] or via Cash App: $AshevilleGuitarBar

This show is weather permitting. Please be sure to check the Asheville Guitar Bar Facebook page on the day of the show for any updates.

Thank you for your continued support!

Keep it live, Keep it local, Keep it Asheville!

Lyric w/ Pleasure Chest Outdoors Halloween
Oct 31 @ 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Salvage Station

Leeda “Lyric” Jones, best known as Lyric is a singer-songwriter, musician, and music teacher. Her latest EP titled “Perspective” was released in December of 2015. She is a Western North Carolina favorite and holds several Mountain Xpress “best of” awards including, but not limited to: best funk band, best vocalist, best lyricist, best r&b/soul, best singer-songwriter, all around favorite band and band that gives back to the community.
She was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. It is safe to say that music is in her blood; her grandfather played harmonica and guitar with the late blues legend B.B. King, and father, whom plays bass in her band has been playing in bands since his teenage years. Upon graduation of high school in 2006, Lyric enrolled at Western Carolina University where she played piano and sang in the choir. After going through the motions of college, she soon realized that it wasn’t the path she should be on, so she took to Youtube and taught herself how to play guitar. Which soon led to her to take the advice of her father, and start busking on the streets of Asheville. Lyric began busking with only two songs, an original titled “Stride”, and “Halo” by Beyonce. During this time she got a mix of reactions – some folks didn’t believe that those who were serious about their craft would take to the street corners, while others stood and awe and found themselves moved to tears by her lyrics. In 2009, she met Lizz Wright while busking, at the time, she had no idea that the two of them would share the same stage in 2011. Since taking to the streets, Lyric has shared the stage with legends such as George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Mavis Staples, Gladys Knight, Booker T. Jones, Little Big Town, Dionne Warwick, Cedric Burnside, Amy Ray (Indigo Girls), Fred Wesley & the Lee Boys, Count M’Butu and Warren Haynes.
Lyric has just come off of her first North East Tour with Lizz Wright, and she draws inspiration from India Arie, Tracy Chapman, and Lauryn Hill. Which isn’t surprising once one hears the way she gracefully intertwines Soul, R&B, Funk, and even a little Hip-Hop – the best portrayal of this intertwinement can be heard in “You Can Win”, which is on her “Perspective” EP. be on the lookout for a her solo project to be released in the summer or fall!

Wicked

So much happened before Dorothy dropped in.

Wicked, Greenville’s most ‘popular’ musical, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle. Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another young woman, born with emerald-green skin — smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”

From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, Wicked — the untold true story of the Witches of Oz — transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story that USA Today cheers is “a complete triumph! An original musical that will make you laugh, cry, and think.”

Vance Gilbert POSTPONED until 2021
Nov 2 @ 7:00 pm
Isis Music Hall

Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Vance started out hoping to be a jazz singer, and then discovered his affinity for the storytelling sensibilities of acoustic folk music. Word spread like wildfire about Gilbert’s stage-owning singing and playing, and Shawn Colvin invited him to be special guest on her 1992 Fat City tour where he took much of America by storm and by surprise. “With the voice of an angel, the wit of a devil, and the guitar playing of a god..” wrote the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Noted not only for being the ever consummate performer, Gilbert has recorded 14 albums, including 5 for Philo/Rounder Records. Along with being opener of choice for artists as varied as Arlo Guthrie, Anita Baker, and Southside Johnny, the mid 2000’s found Gilbert opening 140+ shows for comedian George Carlin. Most recently he’s the opener of choice for Paul Reiser, the Milk Carton Kids, and the Subdudes, along with his own busy acoustic music touring schedule.
