Jesse Terry with Ed Woltil
Sep 17 @ 7:00 pm
Isis Music Hall Lounge

Jesse Terry is a gentle soul with a formidable songwriting talent and a clear artistic vision”

— John Platt – WFUV – NYC

The stage had been Jesse’s home for a decade. He plays around 150 shows a year, from Bonnaroo to the Philadelphia Folk Festival, the 30A Songwriters Festival to AmericanaFest. When the pandemic canceled concerts and delayed the album’s release, he pivoted to performing online and found a strong new connection to his fans, who had helped fund his albums all along. “My musical tribe has always been there for me,” he says with gratitude.

Best known for his work as singer, guitarist and chief songwriter for St. Petersburg Florida art-pop band The Ditchflowers, Ed Woltil’s music has been featured on NPR and in Performing Songwriter magazine. He has shared the stage with music industry legends like Richard Thompson, Alex Chilton, Procol Harum, Graham Parker and Chris Isaak. Woltil has garnered numerous national awards, including First Prize in the USA Songwriting Competition, Gospel category; and First Runner-Up in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, Folk category. Creative Loafing has called Woltil’s music “exquisite…sweet, timeless pop” while Popmatters has said that “every song exhibits supreme musicianship and an insightful yet earthy lyricism.”

Squatch EP Release During Marion Bigfoot Festival
Sep 18 @ 7:00 pm – Sep 19 @ 2:00 am
The Heathen's Den Axe Throwing & Ales

SQUATCH EP RELEASE DURING MARION BIGFOOT FESTIVAL, SEP. 18TH
Squatch is hosting an EP release party during the Marion Bigfoot Festival on Saturday, September 18th at The Heathen’s Den Axe Throwing and Ales with special guests Awen Family Band. The music will kick off just as the Bigfoot Festival winds down in downtown Marion at 8:00pm, and they’ll keep kickin’ til the bar closes.
Squatch is led by Burke County native Mat Masterson. His skillful songwriting and lyrical prowess shine, and yet still leave plenty of room for the world class musicians in the band to bring the house down. The songs are steeped in the joys and sorrows of growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, traveling the world to escape them, and eventually landing right back at home to focus on family and community. Squatch is an ever changing, ever growing collective of musicians hand-picked by Masterson throughout his years back home in WNC from the finest players the region has to offer. Expect heartfelt originals and down home covers to celebrate this new release. Support from regional festival juggernaut Awen Family Band will keep The Heathen’s Den rockin’ til the bar closes down.

The Grass Is Dead
Sep 18 @ 8:00 pm – 1:30 am
Asheville Music Hall

Info:
It is well known that roots music is passed down from generation to generation. From grandparents to parents and from parents to their children. The inevitable collision between the traditional past and the enormous catalogue of modern music, both spiritual and psychedelic, is the fertile plain that sprouted the roots of The Grass Is Dead. Initially formed as an acoustic offshoot of one of the country’s most beloved GD tribute bands, Crazy Fingers, The Grass Is Dead has evolved over the past ten years into a juggernaut of sound and a festival favorite up and down the east coast, to Colorado and back. Their live performances bring into view a traditional sensibility of bluegrass, swing, and folk music launched directly onto a psychedelic paintbrush of modern influences, most importantly, the music of the Grateful Dead. Captivating audiences with their unique interpretations and thoughtful arrangements of songs by the GD, Jerry Garcia, and many others, as well as their extensive file of traditional roots music at their command, it’s only a matter of time until the buzz that they have created will reach the West Coast as well. The Grass Is Dead are very much alive and well, rocking out and and picking their way across this great country.
