Catch encore performances of the First Mondays series with Chamber Music Tuesdays in March, April, and May! These concerts are possible thanks to a collaboration between the Brevard Music Center and the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra.
Chamber Music Tuesdays are held monthly, March through May, at 12:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Hendersonville. Free and open to the public, and no tickets required.

The man named after the land with 10,000 lakes (that’s Minnesota, if you didn’t know) has been a force on the bass scene for nearly a decade. Prominent original tracks like “Push It,” “HiLow,” “Float,” “Thunderdome” and “Colors” are dependable festival favorites and crush the dancefloor time and again.
Although he’s made a name for himself in the electronic music space, Minnesota’s (aka Christian Bauhofer) musical journey started with heavy doses of classic rock, emo and screamo. He was heavily influenced by the psychedelic style of rock legends including Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and cites them as inspiration for what would become his own sound. “The songs were journeys and I really like the epicness and the trip the song took you on,” he says.
College is supposed to be a time of growth and exploration and this was no exception for Christian. It was during his college years in Santa Cruz, California that he first discovered the underground electronic music scene via renegade parties that would be thrown in the woods. “That community / subculture was really my main influence into the music. A lot of other artists were immersed in the Santa Cruz community like Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob and Eprom. They would bring out a generator with CDJs and play music until 10AM. We were really blown away.”
Christian would soon throw his own renegade parties in Santa Cruz to provide himself with a forum to DJ. “I wanted to DJ but nobody knew who I was, so I threw my own parties. We were very lucky to get into it the space before everything blew up,” he adds First Santa Cruz, now the world. Minnesota’s rise has been steady and impressive; leading the charge on the melodic dubstep scene. As for what the future holds? Be on the lookout for new music in the coming months from Minnesota and a cast of talented friends to be released via his label Outer Realms.

Along with a rich Americana lineup, North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival also shines a spotlight on local brewers and their contribution to North Carolina’s vibrant culinary scene. Over 50 breweries offering a selection of craft beers will be featured on-site throughout the weekend. Tasting tickets, which include access to beer samples plus a commemorative sampling glass, are available for purchase for $50 ($39 for early birds).
North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival began as a fundraising effort to preserve the historic site of Rural Hill. The site, which boasts extensive hiking trails, is a beloved landmark in the Central NC region and is home to many educational field trips and events. Since its inception, the North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival has continued to support the awareness of Rural Hill and attract diverse crowds from all over the country.
Friday music-only passes with sets from Acoustic Syndicate and Fireside Collective are $15. Saturday music-only passes with sets from the Steep Canyon Rangers and Hayes Carll are $22 for early birds. For attendees who would like to sample an unlimited assortment of celebrated North Carolina brews on Saturday, Tasting Tickets (which include daily entrance to the festival for music happenings) are available at the Early Bird price of $39. Camping options are available for attendees who would like to make the most of their weekend. Two-Day weekend tent camping, premium tent camping, and RV/Camper camping with hook-ups are available for $45, $65, and $85 respectively. North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival is a family-friendly event. Children 4 and under are free. A Children’s Ticket is available for kids 5 – 15 for $8.

The Cathedral of All Souls, located in Biltmore Village, has a long history of nourishing and supporting the arts. During Lent, we invite the public to attend a series public concerts, featuring local master-class musicians and singers. Each Sunday, we will host a concert from 4 to 6 p.m. in our Sanctuary. We suggest a donation of $10, the proceeds of which will be given directly to the musicians.
It’s an incredible accomplishment when a rock band has been successful enough to reach the 25-year mark since the release of their first album. And this year, rowdy southern rockers Jackyl have accomplished this feat, and are celebrating with an appropriately-titled compilation, ’25,’ which drops July 28 via Mighty Loud Records.

For more than 40 years, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (SFGMC) has served as an international standard bearer for a powerful mix of extraordinary musical excellence and mission-driven activism. Founded in 1978, it was the first choral organization to courageously proclaim its orientation in its name and is credited with helping start the LGBTQ choral movement that now spans the entire globe, galvanizing and changing the course of LGBTQ history.

Nashville singer-songwriter Kelly Hoppenjans creates empowering rock, combining the spirit of riot grrrl tinged with folky introspection. Despite being her debut full-length album, music has long been the crux of Hoppenjans’ existence, and OK, I Feel Better Now encapsulates a lifetime of physical and emotional healing, breaking vicious cycles, and the power of femininity.
Coming-of-age stories typically pinpoint a teenager’s transition from awkward, naive highschooler to empowered, capable adult. However, these narratives tend to leave out the fact that, because of societal pressure to be small and delicate, women tend to take longer to feel comfortable taking up space within society. This theme of coming of space threads throughout OK, I Feel Better Now — asserting a need to break the cycle of society’s gendered expectations.
After learning to play the guitar at a young age, Hoppenjans began writing songs around the age of 12. At the same time, the budding musician picked up a copy of a popular music magazine’s 100 Greatest Guitarists issue and was disappointed to find only two women, Joan Jett and Joni Mitchell, listed among 98 men. Disheartened, she thought this meant women couldn’t be rockstars. Now, with OK, I Feel Better Now, Hoppenjans is making strides to become one of those guitar-wielding role models her younger self regularly sought out — while inspiring young women to ignore toxic stereotypes, embrace their identity, and claim their space in the world.

Bursting out of the Silverlake, CA music scene in the early 2000s, Silversun Pickups- lead singer Brian Aubert, bassist Nikki Monninger, drummer Christopher Guanlao and keyboardist Joe Lester- have maintained their independence throughout their storied career. They released their first three albums on the local label, Dangerbird Records, before founding their own label, New Machine Recordings, for the release of their most recent album, Better Nature. Now almost two decades into their career, they remain a vital and important rock band and have racked up ten Top 20 hits on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart, as well as over a million records sold in the US.
