Spend Saturday, February 24, rockin’ to legendary sounds from Monsters of Yacht, playing yacht rock style classics from artists like Toto, Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers and more.
Both events will be held in the Grand Ballroom of The Omni Grove Park Inn. Will Call begins at 7pm and all Eventbrite purchasers must show tickets to get seating assignments. Doors open at 7:30pm; performances begin at 8:00pm.

Doug Smith is a New York comic who has appeared on CONAN, The Late Late Show with James Corden, Kevin Hart’s LOL Network, and This Is Not Happening on Comedy Central. He also starred in the Comedy Central mini-mock “Brooklyn Ball Barbers,” which has since become their most viewed video of all time. Doug has been featured at numerous comedy festivals including Oddball, Bridgetown, and Just for Laughs, and his debut standup album, “Barely Regal,” is available now on 800 Pound Gorilla Records.

This highly-experiential two-day workshop addresses the epidemic disconnection from our true selves, from other people, and from the natural world—major causes of personal unhappiness and planetary crisis—and gives participants tools for mending the separation, a fundamental step toward healing and wholeness.
Using a synthesis of the wisdom of our ancient ancestors and the latest in neuroscience and the psychology of belonging, we will immerse ourselves in the dynamics and collective awareness of the workshop group to:

Great news for poets and poetry lovers: Dark City Poet’s Society is returning to the Black Mountain Library. DCPS is a completely free poetry group that is open to poets of all ages and experience levels. Join us at the Black Mountain Library from 6-7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month for our (respectful) critique group. Every Friday Modelface Comedy brings you the best comedians from all over the country! This week we have Kylie Vincent from NYC!!!
Kylie Vincent is a 23 year old stand-up and solo show artist based on the road, touring all over the US as well as Scotland for Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Vincent is from California, but knows her homebase to be New York City and can be found performing in all the boroughs, regularly at clubs and colleges. Most recently, she filmed a set as part of Comedy Central’s Featuring series. For the last year, she’s been on tour with Bird, A Solo Show, after performing it in over 10 cities for 8 months straight and received 5 star reviews at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with critics saying, “Kylie Vincent is someone to watch and the world will be hearing more from her in years to come.” Kylie tours with her disabled dog and wants you to know she was broken when she got her.

Asheville’s longest running comedy open mic happening every Wednesday night. The show starts at 8:00, and there is no cover. Breaking the glass ceiling for Amy Schumer, Joan Rivers and The Marvelous Mrs. Masel, Belle Barth was the original irreverent female comic, Queen of the Borscht Belt, deflating anyone who dared take sex too seriously. Raunchy Little Musical – Belle Barth is Back! is an hilarious and heartfelt show that chronicles the launch of the 50s Queen of Crass. It is an evening with this pioneer of edgy comedy anchored by an original score by Grammy-nominated composer Ilya Levinson, with plenty of Belle’s jokes and songs that topped the charts of the “adults only” record section… the “party records” your parents played when you were sent to bed. Inspired by her Jewish comedian father, Belle, a classically trained pianist, defined the odds (and her mother’s wishes for a career at Carnegie Hall). She rose to the top of a very limited genre of performers playing to packed clubs worldwide in an era when “women ain’t comics” culminating in a sold-out appearance at Carnegie Hall..her greatest success and yet her demise.
Jimmy Ferraro (Producer/Director) Jimmy is a theatrical stage director with over 100 productions to his credit, most recently My Big Fat Italian Wedding Murder which ran for 2 years in Florida and most recently in Chicago. He also produced and directed the hit New York premiere of Raunchy Little Musical…Belle Barth is Back!, scheduled to open at The Hendersonville Theatre in June and in Chicago in the Fall.
His credits as a producer and director are an outgrowth of decades as a professional performer throughout the U.S. and overseas, including Broadway, Off-Broadway and regional theatre. He made his Broadway debut in Fiddler On The Roof, directed by Jerome Robbins. Jimmy appeared in two Broadway national tours of Fiddler, with over 3000 performances to his credit. He starred as Tevye, (his signature role), in Fiddler in the 2012 National Tour, (winning Broadway World’s Best Actor in a Musical Award). He is also known throughout the country for his roles as Sancho Panza in Man Of La Mancha, Nicely-Nicely in Guys And Dolls, each of which he has played more than 1000 performances and as Edna in . Jimmy and his wife, Broadway actress Dee Etta Rowe, now make their home in Hendersonville.

Here comes the 5th Western Carolina Writers Showcase since the first production in July of 2022! This showcase features these 9 incredibly talented local singer-songwriters: Whitney Mongé, Melissa McKinney, Ben Balmer, Jeff Santiago, Tina Collins (Tina & Her Pony), Siena Christie, Steve Taton, Hunter Andrus, and Jim Swayzee. There will be 3 rounds of 3 performers taking turns playing their original music with occasional spontaneous collaboration creating many magical moments that can only be experienced live.
Western Carolina Writers was established in 2019 by Nick McMahon, along with Jesse Frizsell and Thomas Yon, as a traveling “Songwriters-In-The-Round” style show. The idea was to take turns performing original songs with fun moments of collaboration at venues all over Western North Carolina.
After about a dozen increasingly successful shows, McMahon started inviting other area songwriters to participate. And now, after around 150 shows featuring close to 80 different local artists, the concept has become even more popular, fun and diverse.
In 2022, Mcmahon and current project partner, Stephen Evans, decided to take this show into the listening rooms and out of the noisy bars and breweries so the songs could really be heard and appreciated. With four recent magical & successful songwriter showcases, three at The Grey Eagle and one at Ayurprana Listening Room, this decision has proven to be the right move.
