Asheville Outlets will host a weekend of free family fun from Friday, October 26, through Sunday, October 28, 2018. Ingles Ultimate Air Dog Competition (UAD), always a crowd favorite, will be held all three days. A Health Fair for People & Pets, Cover Dog Competition and Junior League of Asheville Touch-A Truck round out the weekend activities.

Touch-A-Truck Family Festival – 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm.

The event will be held in the parking lot behind the food court from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Kids and kids at heart will have the opportunity to see, touch, climb and learn about vehicles of all types, even a helicopter! Parental supervision required. Admission is $5 in advance and at the door. Children 3 and under are free.

Health Fair for People & Pets – 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm.

Asheville Outlets will team up with CarePartners Foundation and Critter Magazine to host a Health Fair for People & Pets with a variety of health-related booths and displays, demonstrations and entertainment. For pets and their families you’ll find educational advice, obedience tips, pet adoptions and much more!  A portion of the proceeds from the Health Fair for People & Pets will benefit CarePartners Foundation and local spay/neuter organizations and rescue transport programs.

TRYON, NC — The Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce will present the 25th Annual Shuckin’ and Shakin’ event from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Harmon Field air gym.
Activities include live DJ dance music, all-you-can-eat seafood consisting of oysters roasted over an open fire, shrimp, mussels, barbecue chicken wings, authentic gumbo, coleslaw, rolls, iced tea, coffee, desserts and a great selection of draft beers and wine.
A bonfire will light up the sky after dark as guests dance away the hours.
Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at The Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce office or online via our website CarolinaFoothillsChamber.com. Please be sure you buy your tickets in advance, Tickets are not sold at the door. 21+ Event-No Coolers-No Pets

Spend the afternoon in the splendor of the Carolina Foothills countryside during the peak fall foliage for a self-guided tour of four unique barns in the heart of the Tryon horse country. Each one with its own story to tell and along with the magnificent and talented horses that live there. All barns will feature a tailgate of light refreshments and equestrian art. Asheville Community Yoga is excited to once again be partnering with Veterans Yoga Project, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit that supports our Nations Veterans by teaching self-regulation skills, creating opportunities for healing through multi-day retreats, and by providing advanced training in Mindful Resilience for yoga teachers and healthcare professionals. We are honored to support such an incredible cause.

During Veterans Gratitude Week we will be offering two donation based classes, $5-$15 suggested, with 100% of proceeds supporting Veterans Yoga Project.

The Asheville Affiliates, was founded in 1999 as a social networking group for young professionals to benefit area nonprofits. The organization has grown into a community network of more than 3,000 members. The organization has raised more than $265,000 for 50 nonprofits. Wreaths Across America fundraiser at Sam’s Club In Hendersonville. We will be there Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Stop by and sponsor a wreath to be laid upon a veterans grave in Black Mountain on December 15. Wreaths are $15. All proceeds go to a great cause: Veterans services and our local Civil Air Patrol cadet program.

Youth OUTright WNC is the only youth advocacy and leadership non-profit organization in the region solely dedicated to empowering lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning/queer, intersex, asexual and allied (LGBTQIA+) youth ages 11-20 in Western North Carolina. We engage our youth to be confident, resilient, and compassionate community members. We provide information, support and resources in a safer, inclusive and affirming environment. Sweet Bear Rescue Farm is home to 40 animals with a constant revolving door of fosters and rescues including pigs, chickens, cats, dogs, goats, and turkeys. The farm is a beacon of hope for animals of all species — a place where kindness and compassion are the norm, and all individuals are treated with love and respect. Sweet Bear is dedicated to changing the world, spreading the values of veganism, and creating a safe haven for those who’ve experienced abuse and neglect. Visitors can learn about the intelligence, emotional capacity, and complexity of these wonderful animals.

Entering its 11th year, the Staff Senate Scholarship supports currently enrolled or accepted, incoming students who are children and relatives of staff members. The scholarship is awarded to two or three students each year and it is our hope to grow the scholarship fund to enable us to support more students.
