Bears Bees + Brews Festival is back this fall, partying for wildlife and pollinators for a second year. Show your support for wild creatures large and small–from bears to bees–by joining us at Salvage Station on October 11th from noon to 5pm.

* We began this project to establish and nurture wildlife coexistence, wildlife corridors and conservation trusts, and bring together the work of a wide variety of wildlife, pollinator and environmental organizations, and present it all together to the community via an annual festival, events, educational programs and more.

The eighth annual CiderFest NC fundraiser will be held in a brand-new format this fall that offers loyal guests the chance to celebrate, sample and savor cider safely and responsibly.

While the large annual festival will not be offered this fall in light of current health concerns, the event will continue this year through CiderFest Tours: small-group curated tours of three Asheville cideries that are being offered in partnership with local business Leap Frog Tours.

The tours will allow participants to visit three of Asheville’s cideries — Noble Cider, Urban Orchard Cider Company – West and TreeRock Social Cider House & Mead Bar — for intimate, small-group tasting sessions to sample unique takes on the craft beverage on each of the locations. Proceeds will be shared between Leap Frog Tours, the three participating cideries and Green Built Alliance.

To offer the largest number of people the opportunity to participate, the four-hour tours will be offered from 3 to 7 p.m. on every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday in October.

Tours can be reserved for groups of 2 to 14 individuals, and bookings open up today. To prioritize safety in light of COVID-19, all tours will be private without combining reservations from separate parties. The cost is $85 per person. The price includes a tasting at each cidery, a souvenir CiderFest tasting glass, and transportation by Leap Frog Tours from Aloft Hotel in downtown Asheville.

An evening of Gypsy Jazz: The Hot Club of Asheville – a gypsy jazz collective- is returning to the Isis Lawn concert series with a different line up and fresh repertoire. The evening will feature the music of Django Reinhardt along with a focus on more modern compositions in the Gypsy Jazz genre. The core band will feature Steve Karla and Phil Alley on guitars with Connor Law on bass and special guests. Come enjoy an evening of live music, food and drinks at the Isis patio and lawn. Reservations are highly recommended.

Asheville Outlets is pleased to host a drive-thru food donation drive with Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM) from Monday, October 12, through Friday, October 16, 2020 from

10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day at the Food Court entrance.

Drivers can pull up, stay inside their vehicles and hand off donations safely to volunteers, all of whom will be wearing protective gloves and masks. ABCCM works to address poverty issues including hunger, homelessness and access to health care for the under-served in Buncombe County.

The Dave Hart Scholarship Fund was created in memory of Studio 52’s friend, artist, and educator Dave Hart.
​Dave believed that all students, no matter their background or resources, benefit from participating in theatre.

​​A small number of full and partial need-based scholarships are available upon application. 
Applications are due by September 4. Please fill out the Scholarship Application Form which includes basic student, guardian, and household information as well as a short written statement outlining the purpose and significance of a scholarship. Recipients will be notified via email by September 9.

Explore improvisation, characterization, voice and speech, costume design, and more as you create an original virtual play! With a combination of weekly in-person classes and one private 20-minute session with your instructor, students will develop, memorize, film, and share a video of their role in the play. At the end of the semester, each actor’s part will be edited together to create a virtual performance!

Dive into the development of full and fun characters in this imaginative acting class where students learn about character creation and analysis. With an emphasis on improvisation, collaboration, and self-scripting, actors will leave feeling more confident making bold and specific choices on screen, on stage, and in life. At the end of the semester, actors will share their original characters in a one-of-a-kind virtual showcase.

This class will be offered in person on the ACT Mainstage, following all the recommended protocols for safety and sanitation. Class is limited to 8 students.

Incorporating aspects of the top improv programs in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, this course covers the fundamentals of improvisational acting with an emphasis on comedy; such as listening, commitment, adding information, agreement, intuitive reaction over desperate invention, as well as recognizing and capitalizing on emerging patterns. The class is crafted in such a way to have participants gradually gain their improv instincts through enjoyable and achievable exercises rather than teaching them the taste of disappointment and frustration. Students will gain experience and confidence in unscripted comedic performance through a series of improvised stories, scenes, and group structures; all done from a safe distance.

*In person classes are 50 minutes with an added 10 minutes for temperature checks*
