Join Fairview’s Pat Stone as he spins the frightening, hair-raising, funny (sometimes), and totally spellbinding tale of the time he tried to paddle a canoe down the Colorado River in the glorious, mile-deep Grand Canyon. 14 days, 248 miles, and 96 major rapids—all in the most awe-inspiring spectacle in the 48 states. Pat will take you through the experience so convincingly that you’ll feel like you were there—and, afterwards, be relieved that you weren’t.
Along the way you’ll learn a lot about the weird but wonderful outdoor sport of whitewater paddling, pick up surprising natural lore like the reason creeks run better after the trees lose their leaves, and gain insights into classic local runs like the Rocky Broad (yep, that bony roadside rock jumble right down in Chimney Rock!).

Visit our now open downtown Tap Lounge + Venue! With new service hours available, staying true to our pledge: “doing our best for you, ourselves & our community”.
The Broadway location is now open to share a lounge experience with a COVID conscious environment promoting social distancing and cozy spaces. Locals night is a night to stop by and meet your downtown Asheville crowd in a relaxed environment.
25% off growler fills and we’ll choose a special beer each week for $3/pint!

Join us EVERY Wednesday night for Kid’s Night! Children receive a free four-count kid’s meal with the purchase of an adult meal. See you on Wednesdays!

Come in sip a pint and listen to your favorite 70s tunes! Bonus points if you dress the part!

Learn from farmers and food activists about Cuba’s transition to agroecological farming practices and its national policies that prioritize organic farming and hunger remediation.
Connect with farmers, consumers, activists, NGOs, policymakers, and experts working to transform the global food system.
Acquire the knowledge and strategies to create just, sustainable, local, and healthy food systems in your own communities.
Agroecology = Agriculture + Ecology
Agroecology is the study of ecological systems as they apply to agriculture. It is a science, a movement, and a practice. At OGS, we like to think of the farm as a system and observe nature as the ideal model of sustainable production.
Agroecological practices strive to incorporate all elements of an agricultural ecosystem—water,
nutrients, soil, plants, and animals—to maximize production and minimize impact. Agroecological methods include the following:
- Silvopasture = animals in the woods
- Agroforestry = forest farming
- Permaculture = systems designed to be sustainable and self-sufficient
Of course, each of these methods has been practiced on every continent since humans have existed, though they are only recently being named and defined by the modern sustainable agriculture community.
During this trip, you will participate in and observe how the Cuban agricultural community has embraced agroecology in all of its forms and learn why Cuba is considered one of the leading global experts in agroecological methods.

The Usual Suspects -a collective mix of local bluegrass musicians rocking out this Saturday night! Stop by the pub to kick up your heels with a pint. Sláinte!

Hailing from the mountain towns of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland, The Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers draw freely from Old-Time, Bluegrass, Rockabilly, and Swing music to create their own brand of high energy, Appalachian Bluegrass. Gary Antol (guitar/vocals) and Libby Eddy (fiddle/vocals) founded the band in 2014 with a very simple goal: write good songs, honor the music, and take it to the road. In the time since, Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers has performed in clubs across the country and appeared at festivals including Delfest, Grey Fox, Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival, and many more.
Come enjoy an evening of live music, food and drinks at the Isis Music Hall. Reservations are highly recommended.
Led by songwriters Isaac Horn (guitar) and Lincoln Mick (mandolin), and with the support of other gifted musicians, The Arcadian Wild confidently inhabits and explores an intersection of genre, blending the traditional with the contemporary in order to create a unique acoustic sound that is simultaneously unified and diverse. With one foot planted firmly in choral and formal vocal music, and the other in progressive folk and bluegrass, the band offers up songs of invitation: calls to come and see, to find refuge and rest, or to journey and wonder. In May 2019, The Arcadian Wild released their sophomore record, “Finch in the Pantry” (May 2019), which debuted at #9 on the Billboard bluegrass charts.

In conjunction with Sunday Sessions Live (and virtual) music: Food Truck Sundays will bring a new or rotating “staff favorite” cuisine each week to the Beechams Curve offerings.
Gan Shan West, our main culinary provider 6 days a week, is closed on Sundays. Enjoy the convenience, delicious variety and the music – all in one Sunday Funday stop!
Henderson County Education Foundation’s 6th Annual Food for Thought Event Gives Back to Area Restaurants
The Henderson County Education Foundation will host its sixth-annual Food for Thought event January 18 through January 24. The community is invited to dine-in or take-out at local, participating establishments that have participated in the annual event over the past six years or are newcomers to the Hendersonville food scene. This year, Food for Thought: Covid Edition, is shifting the focus. Historically, restaurant partners have donated a portion of sales back to HCEF, but because the pandemic has greatly affected the restaurant industry, HCEF is not asking for donations from the restaurants.“We wanted to encourage our community to patronize the restaurants that have faithfully supported us in the past,” says Summer Stipe, Executive Director of HCEF. “We know the industry is hurting, and we wanted to help them while also giving folks the ability to donate and support local public education. When customers dine-in or take-out at the participating restaurants, they can also give to HCEF by either putting donations in the designated donation jar, texting FOOD4THOUGHT to 44321, or making a donation on our website, www.hcefnc.org/food.”The week will benefit both businesses and the Foundation with a large selection of participating restaurants; many taking part in the event for the sixth year in a row. Eating establishments participating in the event include: 2nd Act Coffee, Alykat Deli, Appalachian Coffee Company, Arabella Breakfast and Brunch, Blue Sky Café, Bold Rock Cidery, Dry Falls Brewing Company, Flat Rock Village Bakery, Fletcher Village Bakery, Hannah Flanagan’s, HenDough Chicken & Donuts, Honey + Salt, Janitzio Mexican Restaurant, Mike’s on Main, Oklawaha Brewing, Postero, Southern Appalachian Brewery, Three Chopt, West First Wood-Fired, Whit’s Frozen Custard, and Zen Hen.Many participating restaurants are fellow Chamber Members, we encourage you to pick your favorite and show them some support!
