Christmas Eve with Jackson Grimm @ 7pm! His music invokes the sounds of Appalachia and pays homage to the new scene of folk music. Jackson Grimm marries folk pop melodies with the lonesome sound of traditional Appalachian music. In a region with a strong music culture, it is no surprise that Grimm’s songwriting is representative of his musical birthplace: Asheville, NC. Enjoy Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s first-ever online season. Available to stream from December 2-31, this incredible series of premieres, collaborations, behind-the-scenes talkbacks, and unique Alvin Ailey highlights from the past 60 years will leave you inspired and wanting more. A socially-distanced, pre-recorded holiday concert sponsored by Mosaic Community Lifestyle Realty.
The holidays are a precious time of connection: a time to share joy among friends, family, and community. Where the coronavirus pandemic imposes barriers to physical reunion, music allows us to gather in spirit wherever we are. In October 2020, a small subset of musicians from the Blue Ridge Orchestra spaced out their stands, put on their masks, and gathered at the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts to record holiday favorites for a concert that can unite loved ones near and far.
Programmed by John Gordon Ross, this unique concert will feature secular and sacred favorites performed by a variety of musical ensembles: a woodwind quintet, a brass octet, a 13-piece string orchestra, a solo soprano with piano, and a string quartet.
The final recording will be available here from December 11-31!
BRO: Beyond the Concert Hall explores the ways the members of the Blue Ridge Orchestra are playing, practicing, and enjoying music during the 2020 pandemic. New videos will be added weekly so check back to see more musicians!
BMC viola faculty Maggie Snyder and pianist David Fung collaborate in an engaging concert film featuring four pieces intermingled with interviews by composers and performers. The centerpiece of the recital is the World Premiere of Spellbound for solo viola by Iranian-American composer Gity Razaz. The piece was commissioned as a part of the VIOLA2020 project commemorating the centennial of the 19th Amendment through commissioning works by women. Ms. Snyder is Professor of Viola at the University of Georgia – Athens.
Keith shares the beautiful Adoration of the Magi (Three Botticelli Pictures) of Italian composer Ottorino Respighi. The featured recording is of Keith Lockhart conducting the Boston Pops Orchestra on their album Sleigh Ride from 2004.

BMC guest artist Kelly Hall-Tompkins joins Tony nominee Daniel J. Watts in this powerful performance of “The Gatherers” from the Shabbat Community-building organization One Table. Kelly Hall-Tompkins is an award-winning classical soloist and plays the Fiddler on Broadway’s Fiddler on the Roof.

Join us for a relaxing ride through quiet countryside on your way to small town life in western North Carolina on the Tuckasegee River Excursion. Departing from Bryson City, this 4 hour excursion travels 32 miles round-trip to Dillsboro and back to the Bryson City Depot. Pass by the famous movie set of The Fugitive starring Harrison Ford!
The Tuckasegee (tuck-uh-SEE-jee) River Excursion includes an 1½ hour layover in the historic town of Dillsboro, where you’ll find more than 50 shops, restaurants, bed and breakfasts and country inns. There is time to shop, snack, and visit the many unique shops before returning to Bryson City.
Join us for three hours “off the eaten path” as we find and gather over a dozen wild edibles. We’ll whip up a little tasting right on the trail. Take home the rest of your finds and/or get ready for some find dining when one of our award-winning restaurant partners prepares your “catch of the day,” with lunch, brunch or dinner, for free. Wild mushroom pizza, daylily tamales, sassafras root beer, wisteria ice cream… it all depends on what we find!
