Camp Bluebird is a special program that can benefit adult cancer survivors at any point throughout their journey. World Trails Film Festival

The World Trails Film Festival is a unique event showcasing the best short and feature films centering the stories of trails from around the globe. Join us as we bring it to UNC Asheville (premiering for the first time on the East Coast of the United States) to celebrate why trails matter.

This community-building event will support trails locally and globally by fundraising equally for two leading trail organizations, the first of which is the Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards, a local nonprofit equipping people to steward our wild landscapes, and the World Trails Ambassadors, a program of the World Trails Network.

Doors open at 6 pm, Program begins at 7pm and entry will be limited after 7:15 pm, during the screening. Program will include an intermission and ends at 9:30 pm.

Women Helping Women luncheon

Women Helping Women serves as a source of funds to offset the costs of diagnosis and treatment of cancer affecting underinsured and uninsured women served by the UNC Health Pardee health system who could not otherwise obtain and afford such diagnosis and treatment.

This celebratory event always sells out and tickets are going fast. I encourage you to get yours today before they are gone!

Your $125 ticket includes lunch, pre-event shopping at Retail Row and an opportunity to hear inspiring stories of how the Women Helping Women fund is changing lives in Western North Carolina. The average cost for a mammogram is now $562, so every ticket is making a difference!

But that’s not all! The vibrant Fall Festival will be taking place at the Farmers’ Market, so you can expect a spooktacular atmosphere with costumes, decorations, and lots of great candy, snacks, and food!

This family favorite event promises a festive fusion of fitness and fall fun that you won’t want to miss. And, after the race, you can stroll over to the bustling Fall Festival for even more food, drinks, and vendors at the Farmers’ Market. Join Patrick Dean, the author of A Window to Heaven: The Daring First Ascent of Denali, America’s Wildest Peak, which recounts the 1913 first summit of North America’s highest peak, Mt. Denali, in Alaska by The Rev. Hudson Stuck. This retreat will invite you to encounter God and yourself in the wildness of these mountains and our lives through sharing the untold story of Hudson Stuck and by spending time hiking or relaxing at Valle Crucis Conference Center. Optional group hikes for various ability levels will be offered by Holy Hikes of WNC on Monday and Tuesday between learning about Hudson Stuck who spent much of his ministry visiting remote Alaskan villages by dogsled and advocating for Native rights in the early 1900s.
Participants may also enjoy downtime at the retreat center, visit nearby Boone, NC, or drive through the country on beautiful mountain roads. Come to the high country this fall to hike, grow in faith, learn about one of the church’s unknown saints, and encounter the God who made it all.

Patrick Dean is the author of A Window to Heaven: The Daring First Ascent of Denali, America’s Wildest Peak and Nature’s Messenger: Mark Catesby and His Adventures in a New World. Dean lives, works, and plays in and around Monteagle, Tennessee. He has written speeches for Congressional candidates, taught inner-city high-school English, and earned a master’s degree in theology.

Since 2012, Patrick has been a free-lance writer, social-media content creator, and website designer. He is also the executive director of the Mountain Goat Trail Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to creating a walking and cycling trail on a former railroad bed. Patrick is a content ambassador for Territory Run Co.
A Window to Heaven is his first book.
