Join us for our annual AIR Holiday Gift Card Exchange on Wednesday, November 15th, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Archetype Brewing + Kitchen on the South Slope. We’ll be serving snacks and pizzas from Archetype, and a cash bar will be available.
Please bring gift cards in $20 denominations to exchange with your fellow restaurateurs. These gift cards can be used as employee gifts, incentives, and tokens of appreciation. This event is always enjoyable and an excellent opportunity to network and connect with fellow AIR members. Be sure to arrive on time to fully participate in the festivities and exchange the most cards.

Puptart is a tail wagging robot dog who sits and stays, pants when listening, and responds to someone talking to and petting it. It will not jump up or run away, plus it’s fur free, so no sneezes and runny noses coming your way! Every Wednesday afternoon, Puptart will be available for reading practice in the children’s picture book room. Help establish a joy of reading and develop early literacy skills. Sign up at the front desk, pick a book and practice reading for up to 15 minutes. |

Please join us at The 2nd Act in Hendersonville, NC for our first monthly book club meeting that strives to read books that create a closer knit and more inclusive community! We will meet virtually and in person monthly to discuss a book, so read the book and then join in the discussion in person or online every third Thursday. All are welcome! At the end of each meeting we will vote on the next book! The virtual club meeting will be in Zoom format and will meet 2.5 hours after the in-person meeting (8:00pm EST). After the meeting there is live acoustic music so stay and enjoy the vibe with your new friends! Put us down on your calendar for every third Third Thursday!

Cultura’s upcoming Cultivated Community Dinner, Cucina del Rifugio, will be presented by chef Paul Cressend to benefit the YMCA Food & Nutrition Program. Cucina del Rifugio will feature a six-course menu with beverage pairings inspired by the food Chef Cressend enjoyed the most while growing up in New Orleans.
Cucina del Rifugio is inspired by Chef Cressend’s childhood growing up in New Orleans. An interpretation of his favorite dishes from a variety of cuisines. The dinner will be benefitting the YMCA Food & Nutrition Program. Chef Paul Cressend was born in raised in New Orleans. He’s worked in fine dining kitchens for over 20 years. He’s known for his passionate, yet rustic approach to Italian & Louisiana cuisines. Inspired by his world travels his menus feature a global influence. Children’s book author Marsha Almodovar, who is also LEAF’s Easel Rider and ULEAF Community Events Coordinator, will be sharing her new book, Mucho Mucho. Copies will be on sale at the event for $23.
Mucho Mucho is a Spanish-language book (with English subtitles). Its principal character is an Afro-Latina child from Puerto Rico who talks about the things in the world she loves that all kids have access to regardless of where they come from or their economic background. It’s a big topic told in a very simple way. The book’s demographic is early-elementary children.
