Opening reception for: Breaking Ground: ceramic art + functional pottery
Jun 8 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Flood Gallery Fine Art Center

Featuring local ceramic artists Celia Barbieri, Brock Flamion, Joey Sheehan, Erik Haagensen, Luba Sharapan, Christine Thomas, Trista Hudzik, Sonja Hernandez, and Melissa Terrezza Pace

Breaking Ground is a coming together of ceramic art and functional pottery.  From expressive hand made wall hangings that are certain to stir the critical thinking process to the sculpture of stoic faces that might inspire a familiar experience or memory.  Beautiful, whimsical mugs, cups, plates and vases made for everyday use and meant to coax a smile or encourage a laugh.  Wondrous flowers made with clay and buttons, visions of graffiti, hedgehogs, aliens and tattoo imagery pleasingly loud with color and sure to beckon.

Exhibit runs from June 8th to July 27th, 2019

Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance presents “HUNGER”
Jun 20 @ 8:00 pm – Jun 22 @ 8:00 pm
Diana Wortham Theatre

Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance, NC’s summertime professional contemporary ballet company, is thrilled to be re-staging Heather Maloy’s HUNGER, a work that dares to ask the question, “What do you hunger for?” This partnership with MANNA Food Bank was created to call attention to or region’s food insecurity crisis. At the root, we are all hungry. Most of us not in the strict use of the term, but we all have something that we crave. Told through high energy vignettes that range from funny to shocking, this audience favorite inspires the viewer to inspect the needs and desires that forge the trajectory of their lives, while contemplating how that path would be altered if the most basic needs, such as food, water and shelter, were not met.
