This Billboard & Pollstar highly rated show are entering their20th year in production with over 4000 performances listed to their credit. Their client list include the nation’s top casinos, performing arts centers, music halls and corporate clients. Performing up to 150shows a year, this highly acclaimed production showcases the most authentic cast & costuming of its kind. The likes of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and cast bring a colorful performance to over 50 years of classic hits. They have been featured in Rolling Stone magazine, Showbiz Magazine, Las Vegas Today, CBS Sunday Morning news and hundreds of national newspapers, magazines, television & radio as the world’s greatest show honoring the Rolling Stones and their legacy.

This event is a collaboration between the Asheville Chamber Music Series and the Asheville Art Museum to feature North Carolina musicians embarking on a major concert career to appear in a Rising Stars Series.

Christopher Tavernier made his orchestral debut with the Tar River Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of thirteen performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. Since then, he was won numerous competitions throughout the Appalachian region including the Hendersonville, Asheville, Augusta, and Charlotte Symphony concerto competitions. In 2017 he was selected as one of the winners at Brevard Music Festival’s Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition which included undergraduate and graduate competitors. In 2018 he placed 1st in the inaugural Hayes School of Music Piano Competition in Boone, NC, and placed 2nd place in the Big Arts Classic Music Competition in Sanibel, FL. Last year Christopher placed 1st in both the Lower College Level Piano and College Concerto divisions of the 6th Annual Gulf Coast Steinway Society Music Competitions in Mobile, and this year he received the distinct honor to perform at Carnegie Hall in NY.

Christopher is half of a chamber music duo going by the name of “88 Keys and a Reed,” a joint project with clarinetist Matthew Hannah to explore the vast variety of repertoire for piano and clarinet. In addition, Christopher has performed many benefit concerts in support of the Mission Foundation’s “Ladies Night Out” — a collaboration of women helping women who provide free mammograms and health screenings for uninsured/underinsured women.

Before entering college, Christopher studied with Dr. John Cobb and Dr. Douglas Weeks. Christopher is now beginning his Senior year and is completing his undergraduate degree in piano performance with Dr. Read Gainsford at Florida State University’s College of Music. This summer he will be attending the Gijon International Piano Festival in Gijon, Spain. Christopher has been featured on ABC affiliate television station WLOS, CBS affiliate WSPA in Spartanburg (Scene on 7), Carolinas CW62 (Studio 62), and Carolina Live NPR radio, and WCQS in Asheville, NC., and has published recordings in DVD and CD formats.

Eleanor Underhill & Friends is an indie folk-rock band formed in 2014 in Asheville, NC. On the heels of a decade of touring with chart-topping American group, Underhill Rose, singer-songwriter and banjoist Eleanor Underhill was ready to sink her teeth into something more experimental. Drawing on the talents of an eclectic group of musicians from western North Carolina, Eleanor Underhill & Friends juxtaposes driving rhythms and whirling saxophones with eclectic open-back banjo riffs and soulful vocals. It’s a unique group that tips their hat to many traditions without being bound to any.

After years of encouragement by her fans, Underhill has finally recorded an album comprised of fan-favorite cover songs, aptly titled Got it Covered. Returning to her home studio, she began tracking in the pandemic winter of 2020. Bringing in regular members of ‘& Friends — Zack Page on bass, Silas Durocher on guitar, Jacob Rodriguez on saxophone, and Will Younts on kit — enabled Underhill to capture the magic that the group has cultivated over years of live shows. A whopping sixteen tracks are the result of a multi-year process that brings listeners from austere acoustic tracks to bombastic re-imagined renditions of some of the most beloved songs of all time.

Got it Covered puts Underhill’s influences on full display, from the song selection to the production choices, you can tell that Underhill’s tastes are far-reaching and timeless. The album drifts between dreamy nostalgia and modern lucidity with beautifully present upright bass, sandy synths, dreamy guitars, well-seasoned vocals, and unexpected looped beats. With lo-fi moments, epic orchestral swells, and modern ear candy sprinkled here and there, you can hear Underhill’s production skills advancing into new realms. As expected, Underhill presents us with her image-defining banjo that is woven through the songs with fresh perspective.

In Got it Covered, Underhill is at the top of her game. She has reimagined these songs into an intricate yet powerful soundscape that you’ll want to hear on repeat. It’s an album with plenty of soul, plenty of emotion, and lots of fun.

In 2021, Underhill was featured on the cover of CenterPiece Magazine highlighting a live performance at “Echo Sessions” filmed at Echo Mountain Recording Studios and broadcast statewide on the North Carolina Channel. Despite the chaos and reckoning of 2020, Underhill released a second album, Land of the Living, to positive reviews, premieres, and national radio airplay. American Songwriter premiered the kick-off track, “Didn’t We Have Fun?”, and Musoscribe called the album a “Best of 2020” release. Underhill also ambitiously crafted music videos for every single track and a full-album movie (available on her Youtube channel). While in the throes of the pandemic, Underhill decided to launch a Patreon page to allow fans to support her efforts in return for exclusive content.

Underhill’s first foray into home recording and self-production came in 2018 with the release of an all-original twelve song album: Navigate the Madness. She bunkered down in her parent’s old mill house and began tracking. The Asheville Citizen-Times called it “…a stunning work of a gifted, visionary singer-songwriter.” Mountain Xpress stated that “Eleanor Underhill confidently moves well beyond the confines of Americana. A rich tapestry of song and sound, ‘Navigate the Madness’ is a wholly successful creative adventure.”

Join us for a weekly mountain music JAM with players in a round, where the session is focused on regional fiddle tunes and songs! You are welcome to come and listen or to learn and join in. This event supports the Henderson County Junior Appalachian Musician (JAM) Kids Program. Free but donations are accepted. Weekly event takes place at Oklawaha Brewing Company.

The Jukebox Jumpers is a local AVL blues & soul duo who celebrate and spread their passion for country blues and African American vernacular musical styles. Using piedmont and delta blues traditions as a launching pad, their performances expand into classic southern soul from Memphis, Muscle Shoals and New Orleans, as well as Chicago blues and early rock n’ roll. Additionally, they write original songs inspired by mining the those deep musical veins. Leas singer Parrish Ellis simultaneously plays guitar/bass parts while playing two drums with his feet. He is joined by either Steve Trismen on fiddle, or Jason Moore on saxophone, or both (as is the case for the G.E. patio show).

Within one set of music you will hear songs by such American musical icons as Ray Charles, Bo Diddley, Earl King, Al Green, Dr. John, James Brown, Charley Patton, Howlin Wolf, Otis Redding, Muddy Waters, Lee Dorsey, Sonny Boy Williamson, Mississippi John Hurt, Alvin Robinson, Slim Harpo, Junior Wells/Buddy Guy, Nina Simone, Robert Johnson and Little Walter. At the core of this carefully curated musical mix is the common thread of the high energy, funky good-time party and dance music that originally arose from barrel houses and juke joints in the American south during the 1920s through the 1960s.

We are shamelessly drumming up attention for our exciting new program at Lake Julian Park. Starting Thursday, March 31, Buncombe County Recreation Services is hosting a drum circle on the last Thursday of every month from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The only thing you need to bring is yourself and a drum, and then just let the rhythm and beautiful scenery do the work as you enjoy the beat and comradery of fellow percussionists.

On select Thursdays, local musicians enliven our spaces with music to complement your visit. As you stroll the galleries, a variety of tunes adds new dimensions to your viewing experience.

Night after night at their live shows, Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal leave it all on the table, bringing crowds palpably authentic music. This is a real working band; music for the people, by the people. You hear the veracity in Hoyer’s voice. You hear the strife of a guitar amp being pushed to its limits. You hear keyboards hammering notes home while emboldened horns soar over the top of a rhythm section akin to a freight train. The raucous Funk and real-deal Soul emanating from the stage dutifully pays homage to the past Soul/Classic R&B giants while simultaneously charging forward, piloting themselves into the modern era. This IS soul music.

Hoyer formed Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal in 2012 in famed blues town Lincoln, Nebraska. The award-winning six-piece band includes some of the area’s most revered and accomplished musicians. Joining Hoyer (keyboards/vocals) is James Cuato (saxophone) Blake DeForest (trumpet), Mike Keeling (bass), Benjamin Kushner (guitar), and Harrison ElDorado (drums). Inspired by the sounds of Stax, Motown, Muscle Shoals, New Orleans, Philly and San Francisco, the band continuously crosses musical boundaries both in style and era, and joins forces each show with a common goal – to have the crowd dancing so much they forget even their smallest troubles.

The band just finished a massively successful tour of Spain in July/August of 2021, headlining three major Blues and Funk festivals with sold out club dates across the country. Touring in support of their April 2021 release, “Natural Born Hustler.” The album is their first with Denver based label, Color Red. The label is owned in part by Eddie Roberts of The New Mastersounds. Hoyer and company will be recorded their 2nd Color Red album, and 6th overall, in December of 2021. Set for release in Autumn of 2022, this record will be an instant classic.

On January 18th, 2019, Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal released Do It Now, their fourth full length studio album. The album was recorded at Silver Street in Ashland, NE and at Make Believe Studios in Omaha, NE. Upon its initial European release in August 2018, the album drew rave reviews from European publications with Blues Magazine stating, “Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal still prove to be at the top of the contemporary soul movement.” The band promoted the album on their second European tour; a 37-city outing spanning 6 different countries. Do It Now is available on vinyl, CD and all streaming platforms.

Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal hit the road again in 2018 as they traveled to over 25 states and played numerous festivals across the United States. On January 26th, 2018, Hoyer released The End of the Night, a 3-song EP and solo side project with veteran Nashville songwriters Jay Knowles (Harry Connick Jr, Blake Shelton), and Jon Coleman (Trace Adkins).

In 2017, Josh was featured as a contestant on NBC’s The Voice, and the band completed their first European tour; a 27-city stint capped with a live album release from their show in Brussels, Belgium.The hard working band completed several national tours from 2015-2017, playing more than 150 shows in 32 states each year, including opening for George Clinton, Charles Bradley, Booker T Jones, and Muscle Shoals Revue.

In 2016, the magic of their live show caught the attention of producer Ken Coomer (Wilco, Uncle Tupelo), who joined with the band to record their third full-length album. Running From Love, was recorded at Nashville’s historic Sound Emporium, and once again features Hoyer’s trademark vocals and the band’s signature groove. The album was released on April 8, 2016, on Silver Street Records, and is available on vinyl, CD, and all streaming platforms.

Originally from the suburbs of Maryland, Mario has made a home for himself with stand up comedy in Asheville, North Carolina. His style focuses on the awkward moments that come with being a non Spanish speaking Mexican living in the south. Beyond hosting various events around town, he is mainly known for his animated performances, quirky faces, and crying randomly at movies.
James Harrod
James is a stand up comedian originally from Raleigh now living in Asheville, North Carolina. In addition to hosting the Comedy Freakshow every Tuesday night at The Odditorium, he also performs around the east coast opening for comedians like Sean Patton, Yedoye Travis, Michael Palascak, Brandie Posey and many more. Out of all the comics in his scene he was voted most needy and desperate for compliments.
Host Cody Hughes
Cody is a comedian who cut his teeth in Chicago and Atlanta. He is now based out of West North Carolina and tours the Southeast. He has opened for Lewis Black, John Oliver and Maria Bamford among others and hosts the regular Slice of Life Comedy shows at The Orange Peel’s Pulp Lounge

Listeners can easily recognize a blending of genres such as Folk, Pop, Country and Rock n’ Roll in Will’s music, bearing to mind the approach that legends Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, or James Taylor took, and how today’s singer-songwriter heroes such as: John Mayer, Jason Isbell, and Josh Ritter, have expanded on it.
