• The WNC Farmers Market (570 Brevard Rd.) is open for business daily from 7 a.m.- 6 p.m. Find fruits + veggies, plus other staples like meats, cheese, beans, preserves, salsas, honey + condiments. In a continued effort to provide our community with fresh, locally grown produce, meats and cheeses from area farmers, the market will remain open and operate under normal business hours. The market will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
While most of the market will remain open as usual, there are some exceptions:
- Moose Cafe – CLOSED.
Additional updates to vendor schedules will be posted as soon as possible. For specific vendors not listed above, we encourage you to reach out to them directly before coming to the market.
Visitors are encouraged to follow CDC recommendations when visiting the market. A complete list of tips and best practices can be found here.
COVID-19 is not a food-borne illness. It is extremely unlikely that someone will catch it through eating. The virus is most likely to cause illness through respiratory transmission. The routes to be concerned about include being in very close proximity to many people, or coming in contact with high touch surfaces.

The market will operate for as long as necessary, possibly expanding to other locations and days of the week as opportunity and demand allows.
Market Rules
- No customers or vendors exhibiting symptoms may enter the market.
- Maintain 6 feet of social distance at all times.
- One customer at a time for each vendor table.
- Only handle product you are purchasing. Products will be pre-packaged or bunched.
- Children, if they must attend with adult shoppers, must be closely supervised.
Anyone failing to comply with these conditions will be directed to leave the market.
BGA BUTLER ROOM
Ashley Hobbs, Assistant Furbearer and Black Bear Biologist for the NC Wildlife Resources Commission will discuss the natural history of black bears in western North Carolina and how one can use that information to safely coexist with these North Carolina treasures. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. Among the topics covered will be : * The new BearWise initiative which provides ways to prevent conflicts as well as resources to resolve problems and which encourages community initiatives to keep bears wild. * The next phase of the Urban-Suburban Bear Study in Asheville. Ashley Hobbs is the Assistant Black Bear and Furbearer Biologist for the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2015 with A Bachelor’s in Forestry Resources with an emphasis in Wildlife Science. She has a background in human-wildlife conflict mitigation and has worked all over the southeastern US in addition to parts of southern Africa.
Participants must pre-register for classes: 828-252-5190.

Experimental music will be provided by Mexican artist Cyn Los & Via Intercom from New York. Cyn Los creates organic rhythms and twisted journeys with old school keyboards and drums. Via Intercom is comprised of Stevie Jick & Maggie Colgan, an indie folktronica duo based in Brooklyn, NY, featuring homemade synths & other touch instruments to create their own original blend of analog & digitally-based sounds.

Hey plant enthusiasts! Wishing all the best in the coming spring in the northern hemisphere or in the southern hemisphere for your fall! Of course we are living in an unprecedented time due to the current Covid 19 pandemic. i have wanted to start a blog for awhile.
Here in this class we have a chance to feed our passion for the natural world and plants in particular. This is also an opportunity to collaboratively add to our collective pool of botanical knowledge. This knowledge is a crucial piece to any future sustainability as well as a whole lot of fun when employed appropriately. Grateful you are choosing to spend some of your time with me!
As we enter into an even vaster understanding of just how interdependent we are and how fast something travels between us all, we can appreciate the power of our interconnectedness. This can be seen in the thousands of cases in which a virus has impacted so much of our lives from travel, business, wellness and gatherings.
Fantastic Fungi is all about our interconnectedness and the common issues that we face as a species. We know that our biggest defense from these viruses is our own sense of wellbeing, our own immunity and the ability to live from a place of health and wellness both individually and collectively.

As a response to the worldwide pandemic of the coronavirus, we ask each community to take responsibility for establishing the best practice for them. We also know that we need to respond as mycelium and provide innovative ways of addressing these new challenges.

In response to the Coronavirus we have decided to expand our reach and open the gates to the ever expanding movement of this film and provide an opportunity to people all around the world, no matter where you are located, to participate in Fantastic Fungi Day! Yes, we are creating an opportunity for everyone, wherever you are to view the film as well as tune into the post-screening Q&A. We have the ability to shift the way we are living in this world. Synopsis:

The next Asheville Movie Guys screening will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 30, with a virtual discussion of Noah Baumbach’s Oscar-winning “Marriage Story.”
Everyone is welcome to watch the film on Netflix prior to the event, then join us for the discussion, which will take place via a Facebook Live video feed from the Asheville Movie Guys’ Facebook page. Bruce Steele and Edwin Arnaudin of Asheville Movies.com will do their usual post-screening discussion, including behind-the-scenes details on the making of the film, then open the (digital) floor for attendees to respond. Questions may be submitted by comment within Facebook or via email to [email protected].
There is no charge for this event. Patrons are encouraged to consider buying Fine Arts Theatre gift cards worth $5 or more at fineartstheatre.com to keep the theater afloat until it can reopen (when you can then cash in those gift cards), but no purchase is required.
The first 20 patrons who purchase a Fine Arts gift card and send a copy of their receipt to [email protected] by April 5 will receive a coupon for free popcorn. The coupon can be redeemed once the theater reopens, and will be honored through the end of 2020.
