Discover the fun and fundamentals of musical theatre technique by integrating acting, singing, and simple choreography in the development of a Broadway repertoire. Students will learn proper vocal technique, storytelling through song, musical theatre-style choreography, and how to work within an ensemble. Apply your skills in an informal showcase for friends and family. With new material every semester, this class can (and should) be taken multiple times.

What goes on behind the curtains? In this course students learn the ins and outs of technical theatre and backstage work, including safety, basic light and sound board operation, and stage management. Students will then put their skills to practice by covering all technical and backstage roles during the Youth Clue performances. Students will split tech and performance dates so some scheduling conflicts may be accommodated.

Expand on principles of vocal technique, music theory, knowledge of Broadway repertoire, expression of character through movement, and learn how to elevate performances by making specific and unique choices on stage. Apply your skills in an informal showcase for friends and family. With new material every semester, this class can (and should) be taken multiple times!

Sing, dance, and act your way through a Broadway musical! This high-energy, low-pressure virtual class explores the plot and characters of a musical as young actors learn songs and dances from the show. With fun activities and games emphasizing creative play, movement, voice, and improvisation, this process-based class will build theatre skills and allow a fun outlet for your bite-sized Broadway actor. No experience is necessary.

And a 5-6-7-8! Have you ever wanted to feel confident in a dance audition or learn awesome choreography to your favorite musical numbers? In this class students will learn basic dance styles used in musical theatre and how to act through their dancing. This course will help dancers prepare to ace an audition and pick up choreography quickly and efficiently.

If you like storytelling, then this theatre class is right for you! In this 8 week class, students will experience the explorative journey of creating and bringing a story to life as a play. Creators will practice exploring and planning out their ideas, using their voices, and telling stories they are passionate about.

In this eight-week virtual class, young artists will combine creative writing, improvisation, and acting skills as they write and perform original theatrical scenes. With engaging games and exercises that stretch the imagination and encourage collaboration, students will explore the foundational principles of storytelling as they follow the writing process from the first draft to the first read-thru! No previous writing or acting experience is required.

“You are confined only by the walls you build yourself.” In this class, teen artists will discover how to create theatrical work in any environment. Using devising philosophies that inspire installation and site-specific performances, students from across the country will explore a series of creative prompts that awaken their imaginations and empower their own unique artistic voice. We invite artists of all mediums (writers, dancers, filmmakers, visual artists, designers, musicians, and more) to connect and collaborate in this explorative online course. Journalling and sharing will be fundamental to the process.

Costume Sale

Did you miss our first sale? Don’t worry – you can still find a treasure or two at our next Costume Sale! Weather permitting, the sale will be held in our parking lot and the newly fenced in side yard below the theatre. In the case of rain, the sale will take place in 35below, on the lower level of the theatre. An additional sale is scheduled on October 23.

The sale will include costumes pulled from ACT’s extensive collection and donated items. Men’s dress and formal shirts, fur coats and accessories, hats, evening dresses, and children’s costumes will be featured, as well as men’s and women’s day wear and a variety of fabric pieces.

Masks are required regardless of vaccination status.

Ritch Shydner’s funny and insightful multi-media presentation about the history of an original American art form, stand-up comedy, and what all the jokes and laughter say about America. The stories of forgotten trailblazers, martyred iconoclasts and familiar stars show how the simple act of one joker taking on a crowd became one of our most popular entertainments, and a cultural weathervane.

Ritch is taking this show on the road and he need to work out a few bugs. So, if you can handle a few possible hiccups, he has graciously offered the show up as a fundraiser for Attic Salt!
