This unique weekend retreat was developed to refresh stroke survivors and caregivers from the many challenges related to stroke recovery and is open to stroke survivors, caregivers, family members and friends. This is a weekend of education, socialization, relaxation and support, including crafts, games, activities, pampering, rock climbing and nature walks. This is Mission Health’s 8th year sponsoring this event, and it will be held at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain.

Every Sunday evening Modelface Comedy brings you the best comedians from all over the country. This week we have an extra silly show with Beer City Comic-Con!
Roll of the Dice is a comedy show of chance. Each comedian will roll a 20 sided die and whatever number it lands on is how much stage time they recieve! One minute laughs to 20min sets, anything can happen!!!

Freshen Up Comedy Showcase is the first monday of every month. The showcase highlights the best local comics from the Freshen Up Open Mic that happens every Monday at Noble Cider downtown.

Join author, teacher, and homesteader Ashley English as she shares information about and demos how to create the following fall and winter home apothecary remedies: Elderberry & Honey Syrup Ashley English is the author of 11 books, including all 5 books in her “Homemade Living series” (Canning & Preserving, Keeping Chickens, Keeping Bees, Home Dairy, and Home Apothecary), as well as A Year of Pies; Quench; Handmade Gatherings; A Year Of Picnics; The Essential Book of Homesteading; and Southern From Scratch. She holds degrees in holistic nutrition and sociology, and is an alumnus of both The University of North Carolina at Asheville and Clayton College of Natural Health. She has worked over the years with a number of nonprofit organizations committed to social and agricultural issues. Feature comic Julia Macias! An antenna for the unwell, Julia shares all the strange characters who filter through her life. She exploded into the Asheville comedy scene in late 2021 and has touring all over the Southeast. Her view video special will be released later this year.
Guest host for this show is the fantastically loved Ryan Cox! Slice is super happy to have him running the show. Ryan is a comedian’s comedian. He is also a comedian for people who aren’t comedians. Ryan has been performing stand-up around the Southeast since 2016, with jokes ranging from crafted one-liners to twisted parenting tales to the ghost of Kmart.

Join us at HART for a night of good eats, live music, and southern women! Two of Nashville’s leading singer/songwriters redefine the modern Southern woman in Good ‘Ol Girls, a musical about love, loss and laughter. Through the language of five unique southerners, Good ‘Ol Girls celebrates childhood through old age with big hair and bigger hearts. This new musical is based on the stories of two prominent Southern authors, Lee Smith and Jill McCorkle, with songs by Nashville hit-makers Matraca Berg (Reba McEntire, Dixie Chicks, Faith Hill) and Marshall Chapman (Jimmy Buffett, Wynonna, Olivia Newton-John). This will be a one of a kind dinner theatre experience to provide you with an unforgettable night out at HART!

Dauood Naimyar recently taped a Comedy Central stand-up set in February and can next be seen in Comedy Central’s TALES FROM THE TRIP. Last year, Dauood was just a New Face at Just For Laughs 2022. Dauood’s comedic perspective is shaped by the duality of his constant need to fit in, and his relentless desire to be different. His search for being relatable, yet controversial has brought audiences joy for nine years- and will probably continue until he finally figures out who he is. We hope he doesn’t, ‘cause bills need to be paid. Dauood also has over 150K followers on TikTok and keeps building a large audience.

Starting in Montreat, this challenging 13.5 mile route with an elevation gain of 4000 feet will cover portions of the Greybeard Trail, the historic Old Toll Road, and the Buncombe Horse Range (Bridle) Trail, culminating in a 1,000 foot climb from Camp Alice to the Summit of Mount Mitchell.
This is a small group hike for experienced hikers with a limit of 15 participants. All hikers must be pre-approved. Those interested can register below, and will be contacted shortly after by a hike leader to be approved. Please note that on these hikes we do not charge your card the full amount until shortly before the hike. A $10 deposit is required. We will take your card information when you register, and you will be charged the remaining amount approximately two days before the hike.
We will meet at the parking lot at the Montreat Nature Center (301 Lookout Road, Montreat) at 8:15 am and arrive at the summit of Mt. Mitchell by approximately 4:00 pm. Hikers will then be transported back to their vehicles at the Nature Center.
Cost: $60 for Museum Members; $75 for Non-Members (some fees apply).
This is a small group hike for experienced hikers with a limit of 15 participants. All hikers must be pre-approved.
Distance: 10.5 miles
Difficulty: Very strenuous (10+). 10+ mile hike with significant elevation change.
Cost: FREE for all participants (pre-registration is required)
Join the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy to celebrate our “For Love of Beer and Mountains” partnerships. This hike to Clawhammer Mountain, namesake of Highland Brewing Company’s seasonal Clawhammer Oktoberfest Lager, will be a long and strenuous 10+ mile trip along multi-use trails that traverse mountain bike, equestrian, and hiking trails as well as forest service roads. We will follow the trails up a steep climb along a creek, through wildflower patches and rich cove forest. From Clawhammer Cove to the summit, we will climb close to 1,900 feet to finish at 4,072 ft elevation. The cliff-top view at the summit offers scenic views of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Looking Glass in Pisgah National Forest.
This hike is part of our corporate partnership with Highland Brewing Company in Asheville, NC. Highland donates a portion of sales of seasonal releases during the “release party” at the Tasting Room in Asheville to support SAHC’s land and water conservation efforts, and we lead guided hikes for folks to experience and enjoy the natural landscapes for which these seasonal brews are named.
Please Note: There are a couple single log bridges, muddy areas, rocky and steep inclines and a chance of yellow jackets; SAHC wants to provide a fun and safe trip so please be aware of these conditions.
What To Bring: Hiking boots, hiking poles (optional), packed lunch, 2 liters of water, jacket/rain gear. Please dress in layers.
Dogs: Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a leash.
