Join us for the 16th Annual Triad LUNGe Forward 5K Run, Walk & Celebration! It will be a day of celebration and remembrance, as well as a day to take action and provide hope to those impacted by lung cancer, fueling Lung Cancer Initiative’s research, education and access programs right here in our community. Your support will make an impact in the fight against lung cancer.

Western North Carolina’s most popular, scenic, fall half marathon & 8k, mostly flat, lots of fun, and spectator-friendly!
The 4th Annual Black Bear Half Marathon & 8k presented by Hunter Subaru, both wind through Hendersonville, NC (near Asheville) on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023. A Virtual Half Marathon and 8k running option is also available for runners who want to be part of the race weekend experience, but are not able to attend the in-person event.
The Black Bear Half & 8k both offer a scenic, mostly flat course along the Oklawaha Greenway during peak leaf season in the fall. The Half Marathon has less than 400 feet of elevation gain and you won’t want to miss it! We’d like to give a huge thanks to our 2023 Half Marathon & 8k presenting sponsor: Hunter Subaru, for all that they do to help create this amazing event.
Both races finish at the same location in Hendersonville, North Carolina at Jackson Park.

- * If you’re a newcomer to this event, arrive a little early so you can settle in comfortably at your first table and learn the flow of the event without being rushed.
- * Schedule time now on your calendar to follow up soon with those you meet.
Cost is $45 per Chamber member, $75 for other attendees.
Limited to 1 attendee per organization and five attendees per business category.
Table Host Sponsorship – serve as moderators for each table during the connection rounds rather than rotating as other attendees do. Previous experience at Mega Networking is preferred and extremely valuable for serving in the Table Host role. Table Hosts are encouraged to decorate their table in a fun and festive manner representative of their business.

Eliada Homes is a non-profit agency in Asheville that provides a cradle-to-career continuum of services for over 400 children and youth annually. This includes our 5-Star Child Development Center (child care, pre-k, afterschool, and summer camp), Residential mental health programs, Foster Care, adoption services, respite care, equine therapy, intensive in-home therapy, and Workforce-Ready housing assistance for youth aging out of foster care. Established in 1903, we have been helping children succeed for 120 years.
Join us for the Asheville Chamber Business After Hours Corn Maze & Fall Festival event on October 17th at 5 p.m. at Eliada Homes. We’ve been busy here at Pisgah Health Foundation working on Camp Bluebird 2023 which will be hosted at the Bonclarken Conference Center, in historic Flat Rock, NC, October 17-19. Camp Bluebird is a special program that can benefit adult cancer survivors at any point throughout their journey. There’s no better time to visit Western North Carolina than in the fall when leaves are exploding with color. This year, the SERDC Symposium and Annual Membership Meeting will take place in Asheville, NC, just steps from the famed Biltmore Estate, minutes from an eclectic downtown and right beside the Blue Ridge Parkway.
This year’s Symposium aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange within the recycling community. It serves as a platform for professionals to stay updated on industry trends, build partnerships, and contribute to the sustainable development of recycling practices. In addition, our 2023 Champions of the Southeast award winners will be announced and the SERDC membership will be able to get an update on this year’s work as well as vote in the 2024 Board of Directors.

The World Trails Film Festival is a unique event showcasing the best short and feature films centering the stories of trails from around the globe. Join us as we bring it to UNC Asheville (premiering for the first time on the East Coast of the United States) to celebrate why trails matter.
This community-building event will support trails locally and globally by fundraising equally for two leading trail organizations, the first of which is the Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards, a local nonprofit equipping people to steward our wild landscapes, and the World Trails Ambassadors, a program of the World Trails Network.
Doors open at 6 pm, Program begins at 7pm and entry will be limited after 7:15 pm, during the screening. Program will include an intermission and ends at 9:30 pm.
