Michelle Malone’s musical roots run deep and wide like the mighty Mississippi river, twisting and turning through southern rock, folk and country blues territories. Michelle “has the soul of a blues man, the heart of a folk singer, and the guts of a rock and roll star wrapped up in one fiery bad ass” (NASHVILLE RAGE), and she’s “uniquely able to blow the roof off the place then turn right around and whisper a soft song that will break your damn heart” (PASTE) Her live show is refreshingly engaging, authentic and joyful!
Singer-songwriter Mike Kinnebrew’s innovative soulful, indie-inflected take on the folk and Americana sound has earned him the hearts of a diverse and growing fanbase across the world over 25 years and counting. After spending most of 2023 in the studio, Mike is preparing for a big year ahead with a full-length album release slated for spring 2024, in collaboration with Nashville Grammy winners Charlie Lowell and Matt Odmark.
Standup Comedy featuring Cayla Clark On Wednesday August 15, 7-9p we will be having another professional comedy open mic in The Orange Peel’s comedy basement. PULP is a bourbon speakeasy (400+ varieties) located under the iconic stage. No food is served but we do have free snacks while they last and outside food is permitted (no drinks of any kind).

Part game show, part talk show, part what’s going to happen next — The Campfireball is one-of-a-kind live experience inspired by the lives and stories of the people in the audience. On August 15th at Story Parlor the theme is The Nevers: an exploration of the things we never thought we’d do, the people we never thought we would become and the stories we fear might never come true. Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, her ultimate goal is to unite all people through laughter.
Host Petey Smith McDowell is an Asheville native who has been traveling all around the country telling jokes since 2009.

How it Works: The show’s Headliner will be selected by the paid audience in an anonymous ballet after all comics perform their sets. They will write down their favorite top comic of the evening who will be paid & brought back to headline the end of the show with a closing 10-12m set! They will automatically be entered into a Feature headlining show to battle for Asheville title! All standup comics are invited to be on the show as long as there is still room available. There is no cost to performing comics. Comics should have 3-5m of material and be prepared for an additional 10m. Winner will be invited back to be a paid feature on the final battle with grand cash prize, on Sept 26!

Nerd Nite is a monthly event held in 100+ cities around the world featuring fun-yet-informative presentations across a variety of subjects. Asheville was chosen to be the destination of the 2024 Nerd Nite Boss retreat, and so we will be hosting 20 bosses* from other Nerd Nite cities! * “Boss” is the term for the nerd who runs a Nerd Nite show. A group of Nerd Nite Bosses is called a “Well, Actually” of bosses.
The third annual Women to the Front (WTF) music festival will take place September 29th at Salvage Station with a full day of music featuring a lineup of over 50 local women musicians, as well as vendors featuring women-owned businesses, nonprofits that support women, and women-owned food trucks.
Organizers have planned an unforgettable experience with a diverse lineup of styles including jazz, blues, neo-soul, punk, funk, world, and more.
Artists include local favorites Queen Bee and the Honey Lovers, Ménage, The Hope Griffin Trio, Ovadya, The Maggie Valley Band, Kathryn O’Shea and many more. The WTF Funk Project will be headlining the event. Formed during the 1st annual event in 2022, this project features a rotating cast of women. This year the band features Whitney Mongé, Emily Musolino, Rebekah Todd, Rachel Waterhouse, McKinney, Polly Panic and more. The lineup was curated by festival co-founder, Melissa McKinney. The Festival officially begins Sunday at 12:30 p.m. with two stages and will end around Midnight.
