Join us at the Swannanoa Library to create a collage mosaic Juneteenth Flag. While communally creating this flag, learn the history and meaning of this flag and all that it represents. This program will continue for entire month of June where the community can add to it over time. All ages are welcome to contribute.

This glamorous event is a highlight of our Juneteenth celebrations, commemorating the rich history and enduring legacy of African American freedom and culture.

Join us at the Swannanoa Library to create a collage mosaic Juneteenth Flag. While communally creating this flag, learn the history and meaning of this flag and all that it represents. This program will continue for entire month of June where the community can add to it over time. All ages are welcome to contribute.
Join us for our Juneteenth Cinema at Swannanoa Library! Based on the thrilling and inspirational life of an iconic American freedom fighter, Harriet tells the extraordinary tale of Harriet Tubman’s escape from slavery and transformation into one of America’s greatest heroes. For teens and adults, run time 126 minutes and snacks will be provided. This event is free, but you do need to register. Please visit the library web page and use the link on the calendar for this program to sign up..
A night of Live Comedy with in our cozy, vape-friendly Rezonance VIP Lounge, featuring a 3-course cannabis-infused dinner and infused drink, samples from local brands, and a goodie bag of dispensary freebies worth $50+!
Liberation Tools is a cooperative subset of the 501c3 nonprofit Soul & Soil Project based in the unceded Tsalagi (Cherokee) territory of Western North Carolina.
Our mission is to build a collective that sustainably and skillfully crafts quality tools used for growing food, and freely distributes them to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. To support these efforts, we sell these tools for twice the cost of producing one, thereby allowing people with accumulated wealth to access high quality tools by also paying for an identical tool to be sent to a BIPOC land steward.
All are welcome, especially dads and kiddos. Kids are free, Dads pay $10
Class is held on the outdoor stage in the backyard of One World Brewing West. Bring a mat and water and prepare for a light hearted, fun class for the whole family!

Make a Difference in the Lives of Adult Cancer Survivors:
Did you know almost 2 million new cases of cancer were diagnosed in the United States in 2023 alone? Each year, millions of people are directly impacted by cancer with an estimated almost 40% of Americans being diagnosed with cancer at some point during their lifetimes.
For those who’ve heard the dreaded three words “You have cancer,” their lives have changed forever, and their new journey is often filled with tears, worry, isolation, and heartache. At Camp Bluebird, we want to help survivors realize their story is not over when they get their diagnosis, they have merely started writing a new chapter…one filled with resilience, hope, and a new sense of determination. And most importantly, we want them to know they are not alone in this journey.
A camp dedicated to survivors and their journeys of healing and hope…What is Camp Bluebird?
Camp Bluebird is a 3-day, 2-night camp where survivors join together for companionship, arts, wellness and therapeutic activities, and even a DJ dance party! Our camp is designed to empower survivors on their journeys of healing and rediscovery while making lifelong friendships.
This year’s camp will take place September 10-12, 2024 at the Bonclarken Conference Center in historic Flat Rock, NC.
We hope you will consider helping as we reach more campers and make a greater impact in the survivor community!

LEAF Global is excited to be a part of Juneteenth on The Block, Wednesday, June 19. LEAF will be hosting art-making on the parklet (just outside our front door) from 4-7 p.m.
From our neighbors, The Block Collaborative: “The Block neighborhood will come alive with various pop-in events hosted by neighbors throughout the day. The festivities will culminate in an evening gathering at The Foundry’s Workshop Lounge, where we will enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and fellowship. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, celebrate freedom, and honor this historic day. Join Slice of Life Comedy Friday June 21 at pleb urban winery for a fun Asheville Standup Comedy Pageant! We are raising money for 103.3ashevillefm our local community radio station, they produce diverse and eclectic programming that inspires listeners to build connections across our communities and discovers new music and ideas. This comedy show is moderated by your AFM friends at slumberpartyavl Jake Ali & Michele and hosted by the amazing Asheville treasure, Hillary Begley The contestants are the winners of 3 previous contests held at The Orange Peel’s Pulp Jason Webb Ryan Gordon (the third final contest is selected June 13) There will be games, standup and silliness.
