Located at the iconic Highland Brewing Company, this event promises an electric atmosphere, surrounded by the stunning backdrop of Asheville. Embrace the spirit of camaraderie as you meet fellow biking enthusiasts, exchange stories, and discover new biking routes.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. New Jersey Devils
The Hurricanes will honor their heritage on Whalers Night, which will encompass a number of throwback elements, including vintage Whalers sweaters and more! Presented by Alpaca Peruvian Charcoal Chicken.
Join us to watch the BIG game on the BIG screen! We have beer specials and the taqueria will be slinging team-inspired food — KC barbecue ribs and wings + SF clam chowder. Kickoff is at 6:30pm.
The best seat to the big game is at The Draftsman! Cheer on your team (or Usher) over elevated bar bites, cocktails, or local beers on tap.
Buncombe County Environmental Health is hosting a FREE course for pool operators, owners, and any others who are involved in the day-to-day operation of a public pool, spa, or other body of water or are tasked with filling out the paperwork annually.
Topics that will be covered:
- How to avoid getting your annual application sent back.
- How to avoid a revisit fee and permit-action items specific to North Carolina.
- Common permit conditions.
- Industry changes and what they mean for you.
- How to properly fill out your safety data sheet:
- How to properly measure your sump.
- How to determine a flow reduction, if needed.
- How to determine that your drain covers work with your pool.
The training will be in person at 200 College St. Asheville, NC 28801. It will be broken up into two sections with the latter to work on your individual datasheet with in-person help from an Environmental Health staff member. Please note that this course is NOT a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) training course.
Please register for one of the two courses (you may register multiple people at once):
February 7, 2024, from 9 a.m. – noon. Registration closes on January 19, 2024
February 14, 2024, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Registration closes on January 26, 2024
To ensure a conducive learning environment for all, the number of registrants is limited, so registration is first come, first served. Once registration has closed, you will receive a confirmation email letting you know whether or not your registration has been accepted. The course agenda will be attached to emails sent to registrants attending the course.

Please sign up for one (1) 15 minute audition slot.
The audition will consist of reading from sides of the script.
Sides will be emailed to you after signing up.
If you would like to schedule an audition outside of these times, please send an email with times that work.
Rehearsals will begin mid-March. Performances are Friday – Sunday, May 10th – 26th at 7:30
Greenville Swamp Rabbits vs. Atlanta Gladiators

For over 31 years, the Frostbite Races have motivated runners and walkers to stay active throughout the colder winter months. Participants brave the chilly temperatures to compete in a series of races, including a challenging 10K, a scenic 5K, or 1-mile fun run. Flurry the Penguin is always encouraging runners and walkers with high fives. The Family Fun Day and Wellness Expo add to the excitement with local vendors, wellness services, live music, and kid’s activities. The Frostbite Races have become a beloved tradition in Fletcher, NC, bringing the community together for a day of fitness and fun.

Join the largest winter footrace in Henderson County for a fun-filled afternoon of running and family-friendly activities. Choose from a 10K, 5K run/walk, or a flat and fast 1-mile un-timed Fun Run – perfect for runners of all ages and abilities. Join us at the Lelia Patterson Center in Fletcher, NC for a day of fitness, fun, and frosty festivities. Register now and gear up for the coolest race of the year!

ABOUT
ACT is excited to present the 2024 Asheville Community Talent Showcase, a vibrant celebration of the rich talent from communities across Western North Carolina. Join us as we spotlight the diverse and extraordinary skills of our community members, showcasing the best of our region’s performers on stage.
PRIZES & AWARDS
- One grand prize winner will take home $500!
- Additional Awards & Prizes (TBA)
PARTICIPATION
- Asheville Community Talent Showcase auditions are open to acts of all ages and levels of experience.
- Bring your best skills – singing, instrumentation, plate-spinning, singing, acrobatics, dancing, juggling, baton twirling – the possibilities are endless!
- Each act should be 3 minutes or less.
- Each act should be performance ready at the time of Auditions.
- Acts may audition in person or send in a video submission by February 20, 2024 at 6:00 PM.
- If chosen to participate in the Showcase, acts may be asked to work with a director to elevate their piece.
- There is a $20 suggested donation per act to help cover the costs of administration. This is not a required cost, if it is a barrier to participate.
IMPORTANT DATES
- Auditions: February 20, 2024 – 6:00-9:00 PM
- Mandatory Rehearsal: March 9, 2024 – 1:00-4:00 PM
- Performance: March 10, 2024 – Call Time 5:00 PM, Show Time 7:30 PM
Proceeds from the Asheville Community Talent Showcase support the Tanglewood Teens Senior Scholarship Fund. Tanglewood Teens is ACT’s audition-based performance troupe that provides a unique platform for high schoolers to receive top-level training in acting, singing, dancing, and the performing arts. This inclusive program is designed to develop artistic abilities as well as foster teamwork, discipline, and confidence.
