The story revolves around the close friendship between Jules (played by Oskar Werner), an Austrian, and Jim (played by Henri Serre), a Frenchman, who bond over their shared love for art and literature. Their friendship takes a fascinating turn when they both become infatuated with the free-spirited Catherine (played by Jeanne Moreau), an enigmatic and captivating woman.

What follows is a tale of love triangles, shifting relationships, and the consequences of desire. Set against the backdrop of Europe before and after World War I, “Jules et Jim” captures the spirit of the era and the evolving dynamics between its characters. The film explores themes of passion, freedom, and the inexorable passage of time, resulting in a bittersweet and thought-provoking cinematic experience.

Known for its innovative filmmaking techniques and unique narrative style, “Jules et Jim” is celebrated for its exploration of the complexities of love and friendship and its enduring influence on the world of cinema.

Based on thirty years of research, Pickens County historian Dennis Chastain will present his slideshow, Cherokees of the Carolinas, a deep dive into the history and culture of the Cherokees who occupied this area for a thousand years.

Jack of the Wood and Pernod Ricard welcome you to join us for a five course gourmet Irish feast paired with expertly curated Irish Whiskeys. As you enjoy the dinner and each pour we will tell you a little information of the history of each whiskey you try. The night will be accompanied with a live traditional Irish session. The event will start at 6pm with a complimentary welcome cocktail and social hour. Dinner and the whiskey tasting will begin at 7pm. We will end the night with a dessert cocktail.

Derina Harvey leads the award-winning ​Celtic Rock group, the Derina Harvey Band (dHb). With a show that offers a fresh take on traditional folk songs as well as a few originals, Derina’s vibrant personality takes center stage with humor, storytelling, and, of course, her powerful vocals. dHb has been ​likened to a “rockier” version of Canada’s Great Big Sea​,​ if fronted by Adele​, and has earned a reputation as a ​high-energy live show​ that leaves many an audience out-of-breath and hollering from their seats!

​dHb has covered a fair amount of Canada via the performing arts and festival circuits and is now poised to do the same in the United States​. They were smash hits at four juried US showcases – Arts Northwest (Best in Showcase Award), Western Arts Alliance, Performing Arts Exchange, Ohio Arts Professionals Network – and following these, the band has quickly begun to make inroads from coast to coast in the US.

The group enjoys a huge wave of online followers from across the globe via TikTok, where there was a sea shanty craze that started in 2020. dHb’s recording of Tom Lewis’s “The Last Shanty” was used in thousands of videos on the platform, introducing the band to a whole new generation of listeners.

Come join us as members of the Kudzu Warriors share the knowledge they have gained from their many hours working to remove invasive plants near Tryon, NC. Participants can expect to learn about these plants, especially kudzu and its history, identification, and development, as well as various methods of invasive plant removal. There are many success stories, and native plants are returning to areas where the invasives have been removed.

The M.A.G.M.A. Land of Sky Gem Show happens 4 times a year and this is an event that you can keep coming back to!

The March 2024 M.A.G.M.A. Land of the Sky Gem Show will be the 26th gem show presented by the Mountain Area Gem & Mineral Association. Jacquot and Son Mining and crystal potential are sponsors. For show info and vendor spaces, contact Richard Jacquot at 828-779-4501.

Guests will meet at Dssolvr (63 N. Lexington Ave., Asheville, NC 28801) and then depart with their treasure map on a walking team scavenger hunt where they will use their minds and feet to follow St. Patrick’s Day themed clues, solve puzzles, and crack codes to find and unlock the treasure chest for a grand prize!

The hunt involves walking a up to 2.0 miles in total and will take place rain or shine, so long as the weather does not become dangerous. The hunt typically takes about 60 minutes to complete.

Children under 10 years old are welcome to participate for free with the purchase of an Adult ticket.

The Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness welcomes children
of all ages to participate in an Easter Egg Hunt at 10:00am on Easter Sunday, March 31. The
annual event is hosted by St. John's Young Family Ministry. Participants are encouraged to
join the fun in the Rector’s Garden and Parish Hall lawn at 1905 Greenville Highway, across
Rutledge Drive from the church. Parking is available.

"Since our founding, St. John in the Wilderness has been at the heart of fellowship and
community in Flat Rock and beyond,” said Fr. Josh Stephens, Rector. “We invite our friends
and neighbors to join us for Holy Week as we make our journey toward the cross and for
Easter Sunday as we discover that Christ is risen. We also invite children to our Easter Egg
Hunt between our worship services on Easter Sunday. We are so blessed to have such
wonderful neighbors and a beautiful place to live. It will truly be a gift to come together at
this sacred time.

Holy Week begins March 24 with Palm Sunday services at 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. A special
foot washing service is scheduled at 7:00pm on Maundy Thursday, March 28. Good Friday,
March 29 outside and leading to the church, Stations of the Cross begins at 11:00am with
Good Friday Services inside the church at 12:00pm and 5:30pm.
On Easter Sunday, March 31, services will be held at 8:45am and 11am with the Easter Egg
Hunt in between.

The buffet cost, which includes your meal and access to the grounds for the day, is $45.99 per adult (13 and over), exclusive of alcohol; $19.99 per child (3-12); and free to guests two and under. There is no charge for the egg hunt (children ages 1-6), but please bring a basket and meet us at Kanuga Lake Inn playground.
