Join us On Sunday, May 25, as we welcome Donald Davis to Wells Events Center for an afternoon of storytelling. Donald Davis grew up in Waynesville and will bring much joy and laughter to your heart as you hear him tell of happenings back-in-the-day. You will recognize familiar family names and area locations as he brings his stories to life and adds warm-hearted feelings of days-gone-by in this small mountain town.
Doors open at 4:00 with light hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, and storytelling begins at 5:00.

Join over 30 of Asheville’s most dedicated growers, bakers and creators in celebrating our return, starting Wednesday June 4th and all subsequent Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. until winter hours begin in November.

The Henderson County Curb Market, located at 221 N. Church Street in downtown Hendersonville, extends an invitation for its June Jamboree on Saturday, June 7th, from 8:00am – 2:00pm. The Market will offer live Bluegrass music by Liberty Road, a hot dog plate lunch available for purchase, a craft for Father’s Day at the children’s activity table, and a local authors’ signing. Visitors will enjoy chatting with Market vendors and shopping for produce and the many unique items created by local crafters. Fresh baked goods (including gluten free selections), free range eggs, preserves and honey will also be offered. With each purchase, a raffle ticket will be given for a chance to win a basket filled with Curb Market items donated by vendors. This is sure to be an enjoyable, relaxing day for all.

Celebrate the Full Moon by immersing yourself with the healing vibrations of a Sound Bath! The full moon offers a boost in healing to our energy field.
Join your host Kristin Hillegas, for a one-hour Serenity Sound Bath and experience a deeply immersive, full-body sound and vibrational experience. A sound bath can cleanse your soul, restore your balance, surround you with peace and tranquility and stimulate healing.
Note: Please bring a yoga mat/pillow/blanket since you will be lying on the floor. Wear warm, comfortable, and flexible clothing.
The Sound Bath will take place upstairs in the Education Building. Choose your space starting at 6:15 PM, doors close promptly at 6:30 PM.
This session is being offered on a Sliding Scale of $10-$20.
Accessible parking is available in the Center for Spiritual Living Asheville upper parking lot. The entrance to the upper parking lot is off of S. Bear Creek Rd between Science of Mind Way and Sand Hill Rd.

All levels are welcome. No prior breathwork experience needed. Must be 18+ and in good health to participate. Mark your calendars! Haywood County will host the 1st Annual Smoky Mountain Yoga & Wellness Festival on June 21st right here on the Folkmoot Friendship Center campus. This is an all-embracing celebration honoring International Day of Yoga, Summer Solstice and whole-body wellness. Beginning with an Opening Ceremony at 10 am, the festival will offer yoga, qigong, tai chi, somatics and sound healing sessions, Wisdom & Wellness talks and workshops, Vendor Village with dozens of artists, artisans, outdoor activity gear and wellness related products, Food Truck Park, an herbal mocktail bar, children’s adventure center with free activities throughout the day, live entertainment, hula hooping, belly dancing and a drum circle, all culminating with a dynamic Closing Ceremony at 8 pm. As a certified yoga teacher, Camilla sees movement as one of life’s greatest gifts. Every stretch and twist is an invitation to connect more deeply with the body you’ve been given – a chance to feel, to honor, and to be present. In this special hour-long solstice practice, Camilla will guide you through grounding movement designed to cultivate presence, awe, and embodiment as we transition with the shift of the season.
Each year, MountainTrue hosts a BioBlitz to record all the species we can find in a given area. We identify and catalog organisms using the online app iNaturalist. The BioBiltz this year will be on June 21st at Hickory Nut Gap Farm near Asheville, NC. Volunteers will hike with experts in reptiles/amphibians, mammals, birds, plants, and mushrooms. *Group sign-ups are taken at the event and are first come, first serve. Group availability is subject to change.
We will meet at 12:30 pm to complete waivers and sign-up for groups. The BioBlitz will kick off at 1 pm and end at 5 pm. But the fun doesn’t stop there. We hope our volunteers will stick around for the barn dance at Hickory Nut Gap from 6 to 9 pm. All BioBlitz volunteers will receive free admission to the barn dance.
There will be a food truck on site where you can purchase dinner. MountainTrue will provide snacks.
Please bring: water, sunscreen, bug spray, notebook (if desired), sturdy close-toed shoes and any snacks, etc. that you may need.
**Kids aged 6 and up are welcome to join if they are accompanied by a parent/guardian for the duration of the trip.
