Learn the fundamentals of Pilates, or for those who are already experienced, deepen your practice in this mixed level class. Pilates is a whole body workout where we find strength, stretch, and control. Alexis will target the level of class to who is there, so everyone is equally challenged. Pilates is for every BODY…no matter your age, gender, or physical ability.
Bring your own mat (a thick mat is better if you have one), a small towel, and a water bottle. The library has a few mats available to borrow.

Miranda will guide us on an all-level yoga and meditation class to help us connect with ourselves and with nature. Then we’ll enjoy a 2-mile hike into rare mountain wetlands. On our hike, I’ll share with you the value and the magic that wetlands provide our communities and the planet. We’ll talk about the threats that these valuable ecosystems are facing today and what you can do to protect them.

About your guides:
Miranda Peterson started Namaste in Nature, a uniquely Asheville yoga and hiking experience with mountains and waterfalls, after completing her yoga training in India and hiking around the world, including the Himalayas, the Alps, and the Andes.
Lucia Ibarra is the Wetland Wanderer, exploring wetland forests across the US South to highlight the interconnection of wetland forest protection, climate change, and community justice.

Join Pure Yoga Asheville for a purrfectly fun event to benefit Asheville Humane Society! Yoga with Kitties is led by Pure Yoga Asheville at Asheville Humane. The class is one hour.
Kittens and cats will be provided by the Asheville Humane Society – please don’t bring your own cat. Do bring your own yoga mat. Space is limited and expected to sell out! The class is taught by Farrell!

in subtle and clinical trauma, this workshop will educate participants about the effects of trauma and stress on the mind and body, along with providing tools for creating relaxation and healing. Each class begins with a lecture of how the nervous system functions in the body including relevant research on the impacts of trauma, moving into how yoga helps us work with trauma through research, and finally learning and practicing some skills that can help anyone to feel more at ease, empowered and in control in any yoga class.About the instructor: Holly Edmonson is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) who currently teaches yoga at YWCA and the Charles George VA Medical Center.
The Releasing Trauma with Yoga series will be held every third Sunday of the month from November through March, 11:15 am – 1:15 pm in YWCA’s upstairs Group Fitness Studio. This workshop is free for YWCA of Asheville Fitness and Aquatics Members and $5 per session for non-members. Participants can register for the entire series or come to an individual session. December is a month when communities and families come together to celebrate traditions, culture, and love. Join us at Early Bird Yoga to build community with fellow art lovers. Families and community members from the larger Buncombe County area and beyond will be coming together for this unique outdoor dance experience in Pack Square Park. Honoring and bringing together different subcultures, this gathering is a family-friendly, alcohol-free event featuring world renowned tribal fusion dance music artist, Kaminanda. Come celebrate life and the winter solstice with music and ecstatic dance!
Tickets can be purchased online at startribe.org for $12 for only the first 200 tickets, and then $15 at the door. Pack Square Park provides a beautiful downtown Asheville setting for this family-friendly gathering on a Saturday afternoon from 3-5pm, with doors at 2:30pm. Children 12 and under may enter for free, and it is suggested to bring ear protection for them. There will be hot chai to stay warm and superfood energy bars provided by Infinity Greens, and raw chocolate delights by Asheville legends, Silvermoon Chocolate. Startribe is partnering with Asheville Movement Collective, a community of dancers who gather together for free-form dance by hosting dance waves for personal and community transformation.
Kaminanda is an electronic dance music artist that has been performing in the transformational music scene for over a decade. Kaminanda’s live sets involve yoga fusion instrumentation and music theory designed to take the audience on a journey of hypnotic elements of house, techno and trance while remaining in the slower tempos. A kaleidoscope of warm melodies and twisting, winding compositions will inspire the young and the young-at-heart to connect with their inner dancers.
Startribe is a special events company based in Taos, New Mexico, that has produced a variety of one day events and full weekend festivals around the country. Coming in to the Asheville scene strong, this year they produced the highly acclaimed Full Moon Ecstatic Dance in Carrier Park with Porangui in May, and the well-attended and loved Ecstatic Dance in Pack Square with Random Rab in October. StarTribe events fulfill a passion for dance in the natural elements. They believe that dance in outdoor settings is among the most consciousness enhancing activities we can do for ourselves. Sponsors for this event include Blue Horizons Project, a renewable energy community initiative and Red Wing Marketing, a local music festival management and digital marketing agency.
For the month of December, Asheville Yoga Center (AYC) will be supporting Carolina Resource Center for Eating Disorders (CRC for ED). Beginning December 1st, there will be donation boxes in AYC’s studio and boutique locations for monetary contributions. On December 26th, 10% of drop-in and community-class sales will be donated (along with a generous $250 direct donation from AYC!), to the CRC for ED General Fund for the distribution to the various programs of the organization.

In our Restorative Chair Yoga class you will work with props and or in a chair to achieve postures that are restful and meditative. Great for beginners, those seeking relaxation, or participants with joint and mobility limitations.
