Episcopal Church Women (ECW) will host “The Bazaar at St. John in the
Wilderness” on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 8:30am to 1pm inside the Parish Hall and grounds on
the church campus. Fine items, artwork, jewelry, glassware, furniture, linens, silver, plants and more
will highlight the fundraiser with proceeds assisting local charities involving women, children and
families.
Early bird shoppers are welcome at 7:30am with a $10 entry fee. There is no fee to shop inside the
Parish Hall from 8:30 until 1pm.
Book Discussion of Superman’s Not Coming by Erin Brockovich and Suzanne Boothby and cleanup of Hominy Creek and Hominy Creek Road with Asheville Greenworks.
Books to Action is a book club that explores nonfiction books centered on key issues facing our community. The book discussions take place in conjunction with a community service project, educational field trip, or presentations from local experts.Newcomers are welcome. This book club is geared towards participants ages 16 and older.

TFAC invites all artists: painters, sculptors, writers, performers & more — to a casual weekly drop-in gathering on Saturday mornings at 9 AM to share your works in progress, alert others, and chat about art and what’s happening in your community.
The first weekly Coffee is Saturday, August 20 at 9 am.
No RSVP needed, just drop by!
Free parking available on Melrose Avenue, behind and alongside TFAC.
Join us for the 47th annual Clean Streams Day, to celebrate the birthday of local author and environmental advocate Wilma Dykeman and to honor her legacy and contributions to the French Broad watershed.
We will paddle an in-town section of the French Broad from Amboy Rd to 704 Riverside Drive, removing litter and enjoying the river. All gear including kayaks, canoes, life vests, and cleanup supplies will be provided.
A shuttle will be provided by French Broad Outfitters from the takeout to the afterparty at Wrong Way Campground for food and beverages.
Volunteers must be 13 or older for river cleanups.

Need to know
Park: Please do not park at Wrong Way Campground or Cultivate Climbing. There are small lots along Amboy Road and parking at Carrier Park that can easily be walked to and from. Look for GreenWorks near the Amboy Road River Park put-in across from Cultivate.
Wear: lightweight clothing – bathing suits, shirts, tshirts/ tank tops, quickdry materials – no heavy materials like jeans. No heavy footwear or flip flops – old sneakers or water shoes are best. Sun protection and other personal items as needed. We’ll have some dry bags for keys and valuables, but most of those items should be left in vehicles or at home.
Eat a good lunch or snack before you arrive – we will have food and drinks to celebrate with after the cleanup. You may also want to bring a towel and change of clothes/shoes for afterwards.
Citron Gallery presents REFLECTIONS, a group exhibition featuring new works by a diverse range of national and international artists. Consisting of both literal and metaphorical meanings, reflections can appear in many different forms. The physical nature of light alters appearances and can reveal unexpected sensations. Reflections can also be internal; emotional, spiritual or cerebral, revealing distant memories. These artists have created works that aim to portray an inner dialogue for the viewer. Join us for an evening of art, music, light refreshments, and conversation.

Join Zoe & Cloyd for a celebration of their fifth studio album, Songs of Our Grandfathers!
Asheville-based Zoe & Cloyd’s music highlights their emotive songwriting and signature harmonies, with four albums to date that showcase the breadth of their collective musical spirit, seamlessly combining original bluegrass, klezmer, old-time and folk with sincerity and zeal. Now, Zoe & Cloyd are releasing an album inspired by their grandfathers’ musical histories in bluegrass and klezmer music, entitled Songs of Our Grandfathers.
For Natalya Zoe Weinstein and John Cloyd Miller of Organic Records’ semi-eponymous Zoe & Cloyd, tradition is less a choice in musical styles than it is a family legacy — or, to be more precise, a pair of legacies: Miller is the grandson of original bluegrass fiddler Jim Shumate, while Weinstein’s grandfather, David, was a klezmer musician who made his living on flute, clarinet and saxophone. The duo have woven these musical strands together before, but now they’re taking the fusion to a new level in an entire project.
“Songs of Our Grandfathers is inspired by the 1995 album by David Grisman and Andy Statman entitled Songs of Our Fathers, a beautiful project composed of Jewish and klezmer music,” they offer. “We conceived our album in a similar vein, albeit with klezmer and bluegrass, as an homage to our grandfathers and their unique musical stories.”
The duo will be joined by Kevin Kehrberg on upright bass and Bennett Sullivan on banjo and guitar for their album release show.
Their previous appearances at White Horse have all been very well attended.

This definitive resource lists hundreds of Appalachian Grown certified farms, farmers markets, restaurants, groceries, travel destinations, and more throughout Western North Carolina and surrounding counties in Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina. A digital version of the print Guide may be viewed at asapconnections.org/guide.
In addition to the listing content, the 2023 edition features stories that highlight the variety of farming across the region. Jake Puckett, of Crow Fly Farms in Marion, NC, details his passion for holistic animal management. Malcolm Banks, of Yellow Mountain Gardens in Franklin, NC, describes his mission to teach his neighbors—and the world—to grow their own food. Gwen and Jay Englebach, of Black Trumpet Farm in Leicester, NC, talk about building a business and customer relationships. Rounding out the issue are seasonal recipes from chefs at Cultura, Little Chango, The Montford, and Red Fiddle Vittles.

! The Diamond Anniversary is a time to honor our rich heritage and—more importantly—envision our future as the premier visual arts organization in this vibrant, creative region.
Founded in 1948 by a group of local artists to showcase the scope and depth of creativity in Western North Carolina (WNC), the Museum brings art of international significance to the region and encourages lively, diverse dialogue.
The Museum’s original home was a modest, unheated, three-room building on Charlotte Street in the former sales office of Dr. E.W. Grove. The building was designed by Richard Sharp Smith and provided to the Museum by the City of Asheville. Exhibitions by local painters and sculptors could only be staged in warmer weather, and Sunday afternoon receptions gave the community an opportunity to view original art and to listen to artists talk about their work. By the 1950s, the Museum had become an invaluable part of Asheville’s cultural life. It also began acquiring artworks for its Collection.
Three quarters of a century later, the Museum has evolved into the preeminent cultural and educational hub for WNC—welcoming tens of thousands of visitors annually, hosting several major exhibitions each year, holding scores of special programs, and housing its Collection of more than 7,500 works in its state-of-the-art Pack Square location. From its humble beginnings on Charlotte Street to its breathtaking permanent home in the heart of downtown Asheville, the Museum has remained dedicated to Its mission to engage, enlighten, and inspire individuals and enrich the community through dynamic experiences in American art of the 20th and 21st centuries.
The Asheville Art Museum was built, cherished, and supported by the community throughout the past 75 years. Our anniversary celebration will give back through community partnerships and special programs, and by creating new reasons to visit or become a Member. We hope you’ll join us at one (or all) of our Diamond Anniversary special events: the 2023 Gala on June 17th, the 75th Anniversary Community Day Celebration in August, and the 75th Anniversary Dance Party in November!

We are seeking volunteers to assist us in our small after school program for children in West Asheville in low-income housing. We provide a safe and nourishing environment, healthy snacks, and creative activities. Our program currently meets during the school year on most Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:00-5:00pm. You may volunteer for one or two days a week.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Assist with serving snacks
- Interact with children during activity time
- Supervise games and outdoor free time
- For people with background in education, there is also an opportunity to assist with curriculum development and program planning and administration
Requirements:
- Background check
- Orientation booklets will be provided
- Masks are required if unvaccinated

Meet like-minded neighbors, volunteers, and your elected precinct officers. Help us grow our community of caring citizens who will work together to build the foundation needed to fight the extremism in Raleigh and the removing of our fundamental rights.
