Geared specifically towards the 5-12 year old crowd, you’ll learn about our city’s history and see the sights in true LaZoom style – complete with our famously outlandish tour guides, hilarious comedy skits, and all sorts of special appearances! Perfect for birthday parties or school field trips, it’s the best thing to do with your kids in Asheville. It’s a show on wheels!

The tour is 60 minutes long and includes no stops. The tour is hosted by a zany tour guide, and along the way other characters will hop on the bus and perform kid-centric sketches (Candy Pirate, Ninja, and a Levitator) The tour is not only fun – it’s educational! How it Works: The show’s Headliner will be selected by the paid audience in an anonymous ballet after all comics perform their sets.
Audience will write down their favorite top comic of the evening who will be paid & brought back to headline the end of the show with a closing 10m set! They will automatically be entered into a Feature headlining show to battle for Asheville title at plēb urban winery on June 21!
All standup comics are invited to be on the show as long as there is still room available. There is no cost to performing comics. Comics should have 3-1/2m of material and be prepared for an additional 10m. They will be invited to be a paid feature on the final battle with grand cash prize.

A morning tour on select Wednesdays and Fridays going to 2 studios – which will always include 1 private glass studio and 1 art studio in a different medium (such as pottery, fiber, books, sculpture, etc).  These will be pre-arranged studio visits – not customized with the participant. Time frame: 9:30a to 12 ~ 12:15p.

Inspired by the Chihuly at Biltmore glass exhibit, this new tour will give participants a chance to meet a local glass artist along with another professional artist in a different medium.  Glass studios included will feature: cast glass, blown glass or cold formed glass.  Glass artists will be one of the following:  Alex Bernstein, Carl Powell, Brad Smith, Robert Stephan or Hayden Wilson.

Dates for the first half of the year are: April 5, 10, 19; May 8, 17, 22; June 12, 14, 21, 26; July 5, 10, 19, 24, 26.

AND If you are a glass collector, or have special interest in meeting more of the regions incredible glass artists, private customized tours are available to book.

This year marks the 17th Annual Art in Bloom, our most anticipated fundraiser of the year. This multifaceted event, celebrating nature and art, combines two gallery exhibits, live floral arrangements, and a local garden tour featuring working artists. Whether you join us for one event or all of them, you are playing an important role in supporting the arts in our community.

Visit the gallery to experience the stunning creativity of our Ikebana and Western floral designers who have created arrangements inspired by the artworks in the show. The flowers will only be on display for 2 days, so don’t miss your chance to see nature imitating art!

The site is staffed by Extension Master Gardener volunteers and provides demonstrations and answers questions from visitors.

There are five different composting methods on display at the site. There is a single bin unit, a tumbling composter, a wood pallet bin, and a classic 3-bin system — we also usually bring an example of vermiculture on most demo days. The site is stocked with informational pamphlets on the how-to and why of composting.

Do you want to expand the quantity of annuals, perennials, and shrubs in your garden or overwinter your favorite annuals for next summer’s planting? Propagation from cuttings is a fun and easy way to do this. This program will cover simple steps for soft- and semi-hard (summer) cuttings. You will learn how to select and prepare the cuttings, use rooting hormones and rooting media, and see some simple ways to prepare different propagation containers for light and humidity. You can go into the Learning Garden, take some cuttings, put them in propagation chambers, and take them home as your plant propagation experiments.

Please dress appropriately to be outside in the garden.
