Here at Mission Health, we are committed to improving more lives in more ways. We are partnering with local law enforcement agencies on Saturday, October 29, to host Crush the Crisis, a prescription drug take-back event.
HCA Healthcare is committed to bringing frontline solutions to curb the tide of opioid misuse and addiction in the communities that we proud to serve. On Saturday, anyone in the community can safely and anonymously drop off unused and expired medication for proper disposal. HCA Healthcares Crush the Crisis events across the country will align with National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, sponsored by The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
During last year’s event, Mission Heath collected 110 pounds of unused and expired
medication as part of Crush the Crisis.

Eblen Charities Walk, Run or Roll

Come out in a family friendly costume with your well behaved dog (costumes highly encouraged) and help raise funds for Eblen Charities work! All dogs will receive a treat, and all humans will be entered into raffles for prizes. All funds raised go to our work to keep people housed, with working utilities and other essential needs. Register by October 7th to be guaranteed a tshirt.

Eat Smart, Move More Classes at the Leicester Library

Join us at the Leicester Library for a free, six-class series from the NC Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). You’ll learn will learn new recipes, nutrition tips, and easy at-home exercises. Our presenter will focus on practical skills for feeding your family nutritious meals and snacks while helping you stretch your food dollars.

These classes are open to any adults who are interested in learning more about healthy eating and basic food prep.  Samples of the recipes may be provided.

Cedar Bear has been trained in the lineage of Richard Rudis who created the original “Gong Bath™”. Cedar’s Gong Bath’s and concerts include elements from Nada Yoga, DJ mixing, drumming, Tibetan Buddhism, Tantric Hinduism, sacred geometry, and Reiki. This creates a meditative experience in which each participant is acoustically guided via harmonic overtones, into realms of physical & mental/emotional well-being as well as cellular healing. Carefully designed vibrational constructs are used to further entice the brain into Alpha/Theta/Delta wave-scapes of clarity, peace, and wholeness which promotes physIcal, mental, and spiritual awakening, wisdom, and healing.

Mindful Self-Compassion 9-Session Class Outdoors Near Warren Wilson

MSC is an empirically-supported 9-session program that helps participants develop and deepen the skills of self-compassion. Activities include meditation, talks, discussion, and experiential exercises. This class will be held rain or shine outdoors in a beautiful setting over nine Saturdays, 9/17-11/19, skipping 10/15.

John Muir didn’t like the word ‘hike’. “We ought to saunter through them reverently, not ‘hike’ through them.”
I am going to Little Bradley Falls near Saluda; A few of you are welcome to join me.
Distance: 2 miles round trip; Accum Ascent: 300 ft
Pace: 1.5mph – because I’m an ol’ Codger.
Difficulty: Moderate; W/ two (2) KNEE DEEP WET CREEK CROSSINGS (if water is up); PLUS a narrow slope-traversing trail. One short section of 6”wide rock traverse.
The number of participants will be limited by the number of drivers (4 bodies/car).
WAITLISTED PEOPLE WILL BE ADDED AS DRIVERS SIGN ON.
Drive time: ½ hr 1-way
Apprx return time: 3 pm
Carpool contributions appreciated. $2.00 suggested
If you have been exposed, directly or indirectly, to a confirmed case of a viral bug within 7 days of event day, please un-RSVP your attendance.
Please bring an extra pair of shoes to avoid bringing your muddy shoes into the driver’s car at the end of the hike.
This event is NOT for beginners or those with health or balance issues.
This is a dog-participant hike. This event is NOT for those who are uncomfortable with the antics of fun-loving dogs. Dogs are welcome (IF their masters are well trained). Well trained dogs can be ‘off-leash’. ‘On leash’ during the lunch stop.
Incessant prattlers will be assumed to be having an affair.
Obstreperous raucous yawping is discouraged.
DESCRIPTION;
Remember – hikes led by ‘the Curmudgeon’ tend to have challenging surprises.
Trail Condition: Slope traverse; roots; some very short steep sections; One short section of 6”wide rock traverse with root handholds. 1 short section of boulder hopping; 2 Knee-Deep water Xings. (BRING WATER SHOES).
HikeType: Out and Back
One of my ‘Top Ten’ destinations. All hikes are at your own risk. You are responsible for your OWN safety and adequate equipment.
