This was the show we were about to produce just as the world went into lockdown. Perhaps it’s appropriate that it’s a comedy about the end of the world. If you haven’t yet had enough of the real end of the world, feel free to join us for some real belly laughs at its expense.

The play brings together Jules, a grad student in marine biology, and Jo, a journalism student, for, supposedly, a casual sexual encounter. Jo soon comes to realize that her planned-on one-night-stand is actually a ruse, perpetrated by Jules, to find an Eve to his Adam after he has discovered a pattern in fish behavior that portends the end of all life on earth. Stuck in Jules’ laboratory, they wait out their impending doom. A third character, Barbara, serves as our guide to the end of civilization as we know it.

EARLY: Chris Gethard's Beautiful Anonymous Podcast

“Beautiful/Anonymous is my podcast. I tweet out a phone number. Thousands of people try to call. I talk to one of them for an hour. They never tell me their name. I’m not allowed to hang up. That’s it. That’s the whole thing. It’s a simple idea, but it’s turned into a thing that a whole lot of people love. Sometimes it’s funny. Often it’s dark. It’s a joy every time and a constant reminder that every single person has a story, and that we don’t often enough slow down to hear them.”

GOD IS A SCOTTISH DRAG QUEEN
May 23 @ 8:00 pm
Diana Wortham Theatre

WORTHAM CENTER PRESENTS

God is a Scottish Drag Queen

In an unforgettable comedy of biblical proportions, God, dressed in a floral powersuit, has descended to Earth to let off some steam — and, in the process, he skewers everything from Justin Bieber to the Pope. The work of acclaimed Canadian comedian Mike Delamont, God is a Scottish Drag Queen has won 18 “Best of Fest” awards at festivals across the continent, prompting some audiences to wait hours in line for tickets to this not-to-miss show. In a thick Scottish accent, God attempts to clear up a few misconceptions about himself and his role as the Almighty — and, peering over the rim of his reading glasses, he struggles to remain calm about his creation’s misdeeds.
