This 6-week workshop series is inspired by Richard Rohr’s, “Breathing Under Water: Spirituality and the Twelve Steps”. Throughout this series, we will explore The Twelve Steps as described in this powerful book and how they connect with Spirituality and Yoga. Join instructor, Rosie Mulford, as she takes you on a journey to gain a deeper understanding of how the ancient principles in the Gospels and the modern-day Twelve Steps can help to free those who struggle with addiction.

Interweaving yogic philosophy and asana to “connect the dots,” this 6-week workshop will include discussion, movement, pranayama and relaxation.

This course is open to all recovery paths or anyone affected by addiction and no prior yoga experience is required.

We will unpack 3 major principles of addiction:

1. We all have a universal addiction to the way we think 2. We must recognize that we are already that which we seek to become and we already have that which we desire 3. We need to rid ourselves of the heaviness of the ego in order to see what we are and what we have

This is how it works: RPBs will ask the audience for suggestions and then they make that come to technicolor life. Get ready to be a part of the experience because this show will push the envelope of ridiculous fun.

Roman Fraden: Romanis a Los Angeles-based comedian and a regular performer at classic Hollywood venues including The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, and The Hollywood Improv. He has trained with Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) Theatre, performed in various ensemble casts in film and on stage, and has opened for Mark Normand, Margaret Cho, and Patton Oswald. His one man show ‘Back In The Closet’ made it’s world premiere at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018. He currently is living in Asheville while still performing everywhere.
Host Cody Hughes: Cody is a comedian who cut his teeth in Chicago and Atlanta. He is now based out of West North Carolina and tours the Southeast. He has opened for Lewis Black, John Oliver and Maria Bamford among others and hosts the regular Slice of Life Comedy shows at The Orange Peel’s Pulp Lounge.

They persuade four friends and fellow members of the Women’s Institute to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar, assisted by hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence. News of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in Yorkshire, England. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame.

Join us for a night of poetry and storytelling all about the pros, cons, and weirdness of sharing your body with others. All donations will be given directly to Asheville Prison Books. “Asheville Prison Books is a volunteer-run collective which has distributed free literature to people incarcerated in the southeast since 1999. We currently distribute books to North and South Carolina.
