Blue October
Oct 18 @ 8:00 pm
The Orange Peel

BLUE OCTOBER, the San Marcos, TX-based band known for shimmering rock songs and haunting lyrics on albums such as 2009’s Billboard Top 15 debut, Approaching Normal, 2011’s Billboard Top Ten debut Any Man In America and the Platinum-selling Foiled, makes a triumphant return with Sway (Up/Down Records), the band’s first album in two years.

With lush, atmospheric songs such as “Bleed Out,” “Angels In Everything” and “Fear,” and the edgy rocker “Put It In,” the Texas four-piece comes back strong with a revitalized energy and a positive outlook. As singer Justin Furstenfeld puts it: “This album is about why life is so beautiful. It’s about facing fears and recognizing miracles every day. It’s about enjoying yourself and realizing that life is not something you can half-ass.”

The band began writing the album after coming off a series of tour dates in 2012. Drummer Jeremy Furstenfeld echoes his brother’s attitude. “, “The band is in a really great space now, everyone is healthy, happy, and doing well. That’s changed our point of view, and you can hear that new perspective on the album.”

Ticket price includes applicable sales tax. Due to the concerns over the spread of COVID-19 or “coronavirus” as it’s more commonly called, it’s with a heavy heart that we are postponing our show at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC on April 8th and rescheduling it to July or August (exact date is still being worked out). Tickets purchased for the show will be honored at the rescheduled date. We will let you know once we have the new date confirmed. Our concerns first and foremost are for you, our fans, who have shown us time and time again how much you support us. I know many of you were looking forward to this show as much as we were, no place we’d rather be, but like each of you, we want to do everything we can to keep everyone healthy and happy.

The Orange Peel

This show was originally scheduled for June 16, 2020. Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled date. Please email [email protected] if you have any questions.

Ages 18+

For nearly a decade, We Hate Movies has been ripping on the worst movies to hit the big screen, including white-guy-karate pictures, modern-day superhero epics, or misbegotten 90s thrillers. On their first full tour of 2019, hosts Andrew Jupin, Stephen Sajdak, Chris Cabin, and Eric Szyszka bring their antic and uproarious takes on bad movies to the stage once again. The boys will be on hand to break down everything from incomprehensible accents and cheap CGI to dated references and one liners that make you yearn for the sweet embrace of the grave. There might also be talk of Secundus and cold Burger King. Film to be announced.

THE BACKSEAT LOVERS

The Backseat Lovers is a rock band from Salt Lake City, UT. The band formed when lead vocalist Joshua Harmon, having heard of local drummer Juice Welch, introduced himself and asked if he wanted to start a band. They immediately started working on arrangements for some of Josh’s songs. Later Josh met lead guitarist and vocalist Jonas Swanson while waiting in line for an open mic at the Velour in Provo city. Neither of them got on the list to play that night, so they sat on a park bench outside the venue and played their songs to each other until they ran out of stuff to play. Josh invited Jonas to come down and play with he and Juice. It was that night that Out of Tune, a song Josh had been holding onto since he was 16, came to life when they arranged it as a group.
In spring of 2018 the band began recording together. They released their self produced EP Elevator Days on June 3, 2018 and played their first show a few short weeks after.
They released their first full length LP, When We Were Friends on January 27th, 2019 which features the single “Kilby Girl” with over 35 million streams globally. The band released their newest song “Heavy” in July of 2020. The group is currently writing new material that they say is a product of the co-writing chemistry that has grown between Jonas & Joshua since the band started.

BRANSON ANDERSON

Singer-songwriter Branson Anderson hails from Logandale, Nevada, a tiny, sleepy, desert town dating back to the 1860s, best known as the home of the Clark County Fair and Rodeo. As a teen, Anderson started writing songs with dreams of rambling across the land as a traveling musician. In fact, he once ditched high school and took a two and a half day bus ride to Nashville with the sole plan of going to Third Man Records to meet Jack White. It didn’t quite pan out and fifteen hours later he was back on a bus headed home, but a love for the adventures of the road got into his blood on that trip.

Now based in Ogden, Utah, another historic frontier town rich in cowboy lore, Anderson lives in a camp trailer and fully embraces the life of a troubadour, working as a truck driver for a rock quarry when he isn’t gigging. With a creative

approach to writing that eschews traditional song structure, Anderson’s influences include Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Jack White, and Robert Johnson. Fueled by a humble reverence for Americana, as a performer Anderson channels the spirit of yesteryear imbued with a fresh, unique take on roots music.

Anderson has toured the U.S. and parts of Europe, opening for Mattiel, Corb Lund, Charlie Parr, Brothers Comatose, Smooth Hound Smith, Little Hurricane, The Kolars, Sammy Brue, and fellow Utah residents Timmy The Teeth and Joshua James, the latter who produced Anderson’s 2017 debut album, Graydog, as well as his recently released album, Applecore, Baltimore.

Satsang
Oct 20 @ 7:00 pm
Asheville Music Hall

Image

Satsang, an evolving Montana-based band that burst into national conscientiousness with a breakout 2016 reggae album that rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Charts and No. 2 on ITunes, will bring an entirely different sound to Asheville on Wednesday, Oct. 20 when it plays the Asheville Music Hall on the heels of  its new much-celebrated classic country and modern Americana-tinged album, All Right Now.

Tim Snider, an exceptional multi-instrumentalist with global music appeal, will open the 8 p.m. show presented by Charlie Traveler Presents.

Satsang’s first album, The Story of You,was steeped in reggae, hip-hop and world music and drew more than 15 million streams on Spotify alone. A year later in 2016, the band’s second LP, Pyramid(s), reached dizzying heights on the national reggae charts and further solidified the group’s reputation as a new musical force.

With the pandemic providing quality time at home in Montana for songwriter/vocalist Drew McManus and his band for the past year, Satsang took a transformational turn towards raw, ragged tracks that walked the line between folk, country and rock ‘n’ roll in producing a much-talked-about new album, All Right Now.   It will be the focus of the group’s current national tour, which features bassist Karl Roth, drummer Ben Teters and guitarist Stefan Kallander backing McManus’ stellar vocals.

Though McManus was born in Montana, he actually spent much of his formative years in Des Moines, IA. His childhood was troubled, to say the least, marked by physical abuse at home and a nose for trouble that surrounded him. Music offered an escape, however, and McManus found solace in the punk rock and hip-hop he discovered through his love of skateboarding. Brash and aggressive, the songs were a far cry from the country tunes his mother played on an endless loop around the house.

RIVVRS
Oct 20 @ 7:30 pm
Isis Music Hall--The Main Stage

After a three year hiatus, RIVVRS returns with brand new album Start Living; a raw, vulnerable collection of alternative folk songs about the struggles that come with addiction, mental health, and sober recovery.

RIVVRS first gained recognition in 2016 with debut single “I Will Follow You” which landed at #3 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Chart, ultimately gaining more than 15 million streams and garnering multiple features across tv and film; including Netflix Original Film “When We First Met” and the hit NBC show “About a Boy.”

To date, RIVVRS has been featured in more than 75 syncs across the globe; including Reebok, Riverdale, Monday Night Football, Lucifer, Bates Motel, and most recently the Disney+ show “Big Shot” starring John Sta- mos.

After the unexpected death of his mother in 2018, RIVVRS packed his bags and moved back to where he got his roots in Northern California; immediately halting all momentum he had built in Los Angeles. After a struggle with alcohol and depression, a slow transformation began. Marked by an attempt to get sober in 2019, RIVVRS ventured into the stu- dio that year and finished the album mid-pandemic in 2020.

With new LP Start Living, RIVVRS returns to what he knows best; soulful folk music with a message of hope. Accompanied by an all-star band, in- cluding Mason Stoops (Jackson Browne), Dan Bailey (Father John Misty), Joshua Ray Gooch (Shania Twain), and produced by sonic-guru Justin Glasco (Anderson East, The Lone Bellow), the album feels more natural and organic than past releases, marking a new phase for RIVVRS and an attempt to be open and vulnerable to those who may be struggling.

FAST PREACHER

Fast Preacher is multi instrumentalist and songwriter Daniel Hanson. In 2012, Fast Preacher started playing with a rotating cast of characters for dynamic live performances. When Dan isn’t busy co-fronting neo-soul quartet Fat Night, he’s tinkering in the studio, sharpening a signature sound that merges shimmering psychedelia with groove-heavy funk.

Figure It Out is the latest release from the Chicago-based musician, a colorful and potent mingling of pop, rock and funk. This time around, Hanson taps longtime collaborators Nick Muccigrosso (drums) and Nick Bogdon (bass), and recruits Macie Stewart (Ohmme) who plays violin on the EP’s lead single, “Stick Together” and Chet Zenor (Lucky Cloud) lending his versatile guitar playing throughout the EP. Figure It Out was mixed by Daniel, and mastered by Dave Vettraino at Public House Recordings. Fast Preacher’s latest dilates the band’s sound through compelling arrangements, earworming melodies and a newfound psychedelic groove.

BLASE

Blase is a multi-instrumentalist based out of Chicago.

An Evening with Lover’s Leap
Oct 21 @ 7:30 pm
Isis Music Hall--The Main Stage

Standing on the precipice of a new and exciting venture, the band members of Lovers Leap decided to jump. Their first encounter was set up by a festival producer as a musical blind date between Grammy-nominated bassist Shelby Means (formerly of Della Mae), acclaimed songwriter and banjo player Mary Lucey (formerly Biscuit Burners), award winning guitarist Joel Timmons (Sol Driven Train), and slide guitar pioneer and producer, Billy Cardine (Acoustic Syndicate and formerly Biscuit Burners). The quartet felt an immediate musical chemistry with beautiful, tight three-part harmony, intwined in songs that span from old mountain murder ballads to original tunes, that are set to worldly rhythms and dobro daydreams.

Come enjoy an evening of live music, food and drinks at Isis Music Hall. Advanced Reservations are highly recommended.

DRIVIN N CRYIN

An Evening with Kim Richey
Oct 22 @ 8:30 pm
Isis Music Hall--The Main Stage

Kim Richey has worn her heart on her lyrical sleeve, revealing herself time and again. “I started writing songs because of Joni Mitchell, probably like most women songwriters of a certain age,” Richey confesses. “I loved being able to write songs because I was really super-shy. I couldn’t say things to people that I wanted to say. If I put it in a song, there was the deniability. If I ever got called on it, I could say, ‘Oh, heavens no, that’s just a song! I made that up.’”
