Montford Park Players Presents Iconic Tragedy,
Hamlet

The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark
by William Shakespeare

Produced by Montford Park Players at the Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre

Show Dates:
September 7-29, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays @ 7:30pm

Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre, 92 Gay St. Asheville, NC
Montford Park Players, an Asheville theatrical tradition, is proud announce their upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. All performances will be held at the Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre at 92 Gay Street in the heart of Asheville’s historic Montford District, from September 7th through the 29th on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at 7:30pm. This performance like ALL of Montford Park Players’ shows will be absolutely FREE to attend.

This classic tale of “the melancholy Dane” is one of the best-known plays in all of literature and is considered by many to be the greatest play ever written! The show has been presented by Montford Park Players many times over their 46-year history, most recently in 2013, and it remains one of the most-widely produced plays, at theaters around the world. The current production promises to be a daring one, as director Melon Wedick will give us an adaptation that keeps the action moving over two hours, but also incorporates selections from Virgil’s Aeneid.

In the play, when the King of Denmark, recently murdered by his brother, demands that his bookish son avenge his death, prince Hamlet must determine the truth, evade a host of meddlers, and overcome his own hesitations to send his murderous uncle to bloody death.

The show stars Jon Stockdale in the titular role, with Montford Park Players’ favorites Travis Lowe, Julianne Arnell, Ryan Martin and Jane Hallstrom all performing starring roles. The cast also includes Sonia D’Andrea, Will Storrs, Bill Parks, Molly Graves, Charlie Wilson, John Mendenhall, Savannah Stone, and Jamie Knox as Ophelia. Costumes are by Amanda Raye Shive and sets are designed by Laura Lowe.

For more information or to reserve seats, go to montfordparkplayers.org, or call at (828) 254-5146.

Eliada’s Annual Corn Maze
Sep 30 @ 9:29 pm

This year, Eliada will maintain some beloved attractions including the tractor ride, which now drives all the way around the Corn Maze, jumping pillow, corn kernel sand box, spider web climber, tube slides, and corn cannons.

Eliada is pleased to announce that the corn planted in the field is Non-GMO, and that Eliada used all natural fertilizers to help the corn grow.
The Corn Maze raises $100,000 for the agency every year, and we have come to rely on this event to support our programs,” says Davis-Bryant. “I never thought I’d have a job in which I relied on a field of corn growing! Changing up how we planted the corn field meant a lot to us, but was also a risk. I am proud of the agency for engaging in this kind of risk taking. The corn has grown beautifully, and we can be proud of the ways we have improved the event for the long-term sustainability of our land.
This year, Eliada is also adding beer and cider sales to the makeup of the event.

This option, available to guests only on weekends (Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sunday afternoons), will help the agency increase revenue to support the growing needs children and youth face in our community. Eliada is excited to work with local and national partners to provide an array of beer and cider options!

In Times of Seismic Sorrows

Through weavings, installations, sculpture, and print, artists Rena Detrixhe and Tali Weinberg (Tulsa, OK) explore the complex relationship between humans and the planet, offering insights, expressing grief, and creating space for resilience and change.

In Time of Seismic Sorrows is curated by Marilyn Zapf and organized by the Center for Craft. The Center for Craft is supported in part by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
