This free introductory class includes a discussion of the evidence-based health benefits of practicing Tai Chi, a demonstration of Sun Style Tai Chi, and a discussion of the history of the art form. There will be an opportunity to practice a few basic postures. This class may be helpful to anyone who has wondered if they might enjoy learning and practicing Tai Chi . If there is enough interest, we will offer a Tai Chi class series this winter/spring. Patricia P. Gilliam, PhD, ANP-BC will be the instructor. Patricia is a Board-Certified Tai Chi For Health Instructor and Nurse Practitioner. Registration is required. Contact [email protected] with any questions. |

Learn what’s ahead in 2023 for Precinct #71.1! Look for us INSIDE where it’s warm. In addition, we’ll have a special treat for Weaverville residents as Mayor Patrick Fitzsimmons and Weaverville Councilwoman Michele Wood will be there to share what’s happening in Weaverville and prepare for the Weaverville Municipal Election in November.
Who should attend: Democrats and like-minded Independents in Precinct #71.1 and Weaverville residents.

Join us for a weekly mountain music JAM with players in a round, where the session is focused on regional fiddle tunes and songs! You are welcome to come and listen or to learn and join in. This event supports the Henderson County Junior Appalachian Musician (JAM) Kids Program. Free but donations are accepted. Weekly event takes place at Oklawaha Brewing Company.

Carolina Clay is a band started in 2017 by North Carolina native singer/songwriter Heather Foster. Carolina Clay was established to embody the ideation of living in the Carolinas through a unique style of country music. Their latest album “Whiskey & Women” seamlessly blends a punch of southern rock with the storytelling of folk and Americana music. Lyrically, Carolina Clay is known for telling the gut wrenching truth with just a touch of outlaw to keep things interesting.
Moving into 2023, the band is touring regionally to promote their latest release as well as defining a permanent roster. Works for a second EP with the new line up are already in progress!

TFAC invites all artists: painters, sculptors, writers, performers & more — to a casual weekly drop-in gathering on Saturday mornings at 9 AM to share your works in progress, alert others, and chat about art and what’s happening in your community.
The first weekly Coffee is Saturday, August 20 at 9 am.

Dedicated to advancing and preserving the big band jazz tradition, the 17-piece Asheville Jazz Orchestra is western North Carolina’s premier big band. Whether they are playing a swing dance, club date, or formal concert, the AJO is the hardest swinging band in Asheville.
Since its founding the Asheville Jazz Orchestra has been directed by Dr. David Wilken. In addition to directing the AJO, he also plays trombone and also composes much of their material. He can also be heard playing traditional New Orleans jazz with the Low-Down Sires and conducting the Land of the Sky Symphonic Band.
