On Thursday, April 9th, Hendersonville Green Drinks welcomes Lee Warren, Executive Director of Organic Growers School.

In her talk, Lee will discuss how industrial agriculture has impacted us on a global scale, from worsening environmental crises and a loss of worldwide biodiversity to increasing world hunger. She, and Organic Growers School, believe that the solution to these problems lies in bringing food systems closer to home and focusing on organic food production. By shifting our food system to rely on small to medium sized farmers, encouraging backyard gardens or orchards, and foraging local plants, she believes we can live happier and healthier lives. As a result of the current COVID-19 crisis, we have shifted this event to be online. Using this link, bit.ly/hvlgreendrinks, you can register for the event. Once registered you’ll receive an email allowing you to join the online presentation or to call in by phone.

Eleanor Underhill and Molly Rose go solo in a two set concert from their homes in Asheville, North Carolina. Americana at its best.

HOW IT WORKS: RSVP https://www.eventbrite.com/e/underhill-rose-tickets-100634641923?fbclid=IwAR0-AlagHpExefICMa4WGZK5kqyl7LhdSieNk6ntM3U3wlR1J5OU6ganNLE by selecting REGISTER. You will receive an email with a link for the concert. Tune in at the concert time. The artist will provide you information to support them through an online donation via a service like PayPal or Venmo. Donations for house concerts typically range from $10-20, more for ensembles. There is NO PAYWALL. In this challenging time we’re all going through, we are working to connect people in isolation, support working musicians, but also be sensitive that many people are taking a huge financial hit. This may not be a good time for you to contribute. We still invite you to join us. We’re all in this together.

Harmonies. Soul-touching lyrics. Eye-catching stage presence. Underhill Rose has become synonymous with beautiful music, charming personalities, and rippling success. In the last four years, the band from Asheville, North Carolina has independently released two albums in the top of the Americana Music Association Airplay Chart and Roots Music Report Chart, all the while garnering critical acclaim from around the globe.
Get to know the joyful soaring voice of Molly Rose and her acoustic guitar and the distinctive styling of Eleanor Underhill’s open-back banjo and salty-blues vocals. Their close harmonies and charisma make most think they are sisters, and with their song-centered original compositions, Underhill Rose creates music that is real and inspired. See them on PBS Television, hear them on nationally-syndicated radio and at live performances, and you will know how Underhill Rose has carved out a distinctive place in the Americana-folk scene.
For their most recent release, the authentic, live sound was captured in their home state over two starry nights. Featuring original songs from their three studio albums, Underhill Rose’s Live covers the depth and joy of nearly a decade of musical partnership. The stripped-down sound highlights the soulful harmonies that originally brought Eleanor and Molly together to play music. By removing the bells and whistles of past recordings, Underhill Rose reveals the fundamental elements of their sound: a powerful partnership in full bloom.

Well
Apr 9 @ 7:30 pm
NC Stage Company

Well is a funny and touching comedy about mothers and daughters, mind over body, social activism and theatre itself. Lisa, the onstage playwright, attempts a memory play about her force-of-nature mother, Ann, who though constantly ill manages to heal a community. The playwright asks the provocative question: “Do we create our own illness?” The answers she gets are much more complicated than she bargained for as the play spins dangerously out of control into riotously funny and unexpected territory.

A National Unified Leadership Response to shortages of Personal Protective Medical Equipment
Apr 10 all-day
NATIONAL PPE COALITION onlie

Across the nation, thousands of people are stepping up to solve the crisis that is afflicting our heroic frontline health workers and first responders. As hospitals struggle to find safe and reliable supplies, companies, organizations, and individuals are joining forces to get health care workers the personal protective equipment and lifesaving medical devices they need. No single organization can do this alone. In fact, the proliferation of organizations in this space has made it incredibly challenging to navigate.

National PPE Coalition’s goal is to aid that process by enabling connections. We’re working to bring crucial partners – state governments, corporations, manufacturers, non profits, and individuals – together in order to build an efficient, unified supply chain.

By coordinating all emergency PPE crisis efforts, we not only minimize the risk of misdirecting critical supplies to places that may need them less urgently, but increase their individual power exponentially. Working together, the PPE Coalition members are working together to ensure that every shipment of PPE sent is a life-saving shipment.

Brevard Music Center Announces Cancellation of 2020 Summer Season

BMC Supports Critical Efforts to Stem the Spread of COVID-19

by Cancelling Summer Institute & Festival

April 4, 2020 (Brevard, NC)—After careful analysis of the continued global, regional, and local impact of the Coronavirus, the Trustees of the Brevard Music Center have unanimously voted to cancel its renowned Summer Music Festival, which had been scheduled for May 30 – August 22, 2020. The Brevard Music Center, one of the country’s premier training programs for young musicians, is also cancelling all educational programming during the summer of 2020.

BMC made the difficult decision to cancel its 2020 summer institute and festival in order to remain compliant with current health advisories, civil ordinances, and government guidelines to help stop the spread of COVID-19. “We have an ethical obligation to do our part to protect our Brevard community,” said Weinstein. “The very nature of BMC’s operational business model is based on bringing students from almost every state in the country and from around the world to our campus and our community to participate in a transformative summer of study and performance. We also employ hundreds of seasonal staff and interns, distinguished faculty members, and world-class guest artists for a summer festival that welcomes 40,000 attendees. Mass gatherings of all of these individuals, plus hundreds of BMCA volunteers, could advance the spread of the virus…and that is a risk that we simply cannot take.”

In the immediate days and following weeks ahead, the Brevard Music Center staff will proactively contact all 2020 ticket holders to offer a full refund on their purchase. BMC ticket holders will also be given the option to donate the full or partial value of their tickets to the Brevard Music Center as a charitable contribution. Ticket buyers may visit brevardmusic.org or call 828-862-2130 for further details.

For more information on BMC, visit brevardmusic.org, call 828-862-2100, “like” the Brevard Music Center on Facebook, follow @brevardmusic on Twitterstream season highlights via SoundCloud, and visit the Brevard Music Center YouTube channel for performance videos from previous festival seasons.

FANTASTIC FUNGI - Streaming Release

As we enter into an even vaster understanding of just how interdependent we are and how fast something travels between us all, we can appreciate the power of our interconnectedness. This can be seen in the thousands of cases in which a virus has impacted so much of our lives from travel, business, wellness and gatherings.
Fantastic Fungi is all about our interconnectedness and the common issues that we face as a species. We know that our biggest defense from these viruses is our own sense of wellbeing, our own immunity and the ability to live from a place of health and wellness both individually and collectively.

Fantastic Fungi Day:
More Global Than Ever

Watch Fantastic Fungi… At Home!

The messages of this film could not be any timelier, from the need to reconnect and understand the intelligence of nature, to partnering with fungi and our natural world to shift our consciousness. How prepared are we to face the pressing issues we have in our world?

We are facing a serious challenge, yet like the mycelium network we are adaptable. As a response to the worldwide pandemic of the coronavirus, we ask each community to take responsibility for establishing the best practice for them. We also know that we need to respond as mycelium and provide innovative ways of addressing these new challenges.

Join Us From The Safety of Wherever You Are.

In response to the Coronavirus we have decided to expand our reach and open the gates to the ever expanding movement of this film and provide an opportunity to people all around the world, no matter where you are located, to participate in Fantastic Fungi Day!
