“How is it that the coolest new show on Broadway is a 1943 musical?” says The New York Times.
This is Oklahoma! as you’ve never seen or heard it before — reimagined for the 21st century, and now the Tony Award® winner for Best Revival of a Musical. Funny and sexy, dark and jolting, this acclaimed production of Oklahoma! “lets us experience Rodgers and Hammerstein’s greatness anew” (The New Yorker).
Stripped down to reveal the darker psychological truths at its core, Daniel Fish’s production tells a story of a community circling its wagons against an outsider, and the frontier life that shaped America. Upending the sunny romance of a farmer and a cowpoke, this Oklahoma! allows the classic musical — and our country — to be seen in a whole new light.
“This production shocked me and moved me,” raves Frank Rich of New York Magazine. “This is the Oklahoma! that was there all along.” The Daily Beast raves “Forget your traditional idea of Oklahoma! Daniel Fish’s daring, brilliant, utterly absorbing re-interpretation is dark and different — brilliantly so.”

NUNSENSE JAMBOREEBook, Music and Lyrics by Dan GogginThis hilarious hoedown is Nunsense fun with a Laugh-In/Hee-Haw/Grand Ole Opry slant! |

This hilarious hoedown is Nunsense fun with a Laugh-In/Hee-Haw/Grand Ole Opry slant!
In Nunsense I, a wacky nun known as Sister Mary Amnesia regained her memory and recalled that she always wanted to be a country singer. In Nunsense II, her dream became one step closer to reality when Reverend Mother landed a recording contract for her. In this show, Nunsense Jamboree, Sister Amnesia’s dream is realized as she headlines a brand new show promoting her debut album, I Could’ve Gone to Nashville.

Journey “under the sea” with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR., adapted from Disney’s Broadway production and the motion picture (featuring the enormously popular Academy Award-winning music and delightfully charming book and lyrics). Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories, Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR. is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance.
In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home — and her fins — behind and live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she’s the girl whose enchanting voice he’s been seeking.
Tickets are not on sale yet. Please check back closer to the event date.
Thank goodness this could never happen: An elected Governor is thrown out of office because of his sexual shenanigans — and the political gurus want to install an easily manipulated buffoon? Paul Slade Smith’s non-partisan, hilarious political satire takes on that challenge – and gives us hope!
Friday and Saturday performances are held at Asheville Community Theatre; Sunday performances are held at the Reuter Center on the campus of UNCA. All shows at 2:30 pm.
Please come prepared to wear a mask for the entire performance. Masking requirements at ACT may change based on the recommendation of federal and/or state health officials; please check our website for ACT’s most up-to-date masking policy. **Reuter Center at UNCA may have different masking requirements than ACT, please check the UNCA website for venue policies.**
All sales final. No exchanges or returns.

By David Hopes
Directed by Doug Savitt
The scientist. The monster. The tale of a creation suffering at the hands of his maker. It’s a story we all know – but what if the creation takes on a life of its own? What if the relationship between them was more complicated than we ever realized, and what if, by the act of making the monster, the scientist was changed as well?

SHIMMERA AND THE THREE MAGI
A Collaboration with Pagans & Androids
Shimmera and the Three Magi is a rock opera dreamed up by local performance group Pagans & Androids, and will feature a fascinating juxtaposition of woodsy whimsy and the magic of digitization. Based on the myth of the three magi, Shimmera is a birthing of three different, seemingly oppositional states, asking us whether we can live as three creatures simultaneously.

| Contained by its larger growing neighbor (Asheville), the French Broad and Swannanoa rivers, and the Southern Railway line, the Town of Victoria existed from 1887 until 1905, when it was absorbed into Asheville. The community—which included the Smith-McDowell House and Fernihurst mansion—originally incorporated into a town to prevent unwanted development (particularly from the Vanderbilts). |
