Event: “Preservation Through Art: Along the French Broad” Fall Art Sale and Exhibition

If you are unable to attend one of our scheduled events, we invite you to contact us at 828-628-0006 or 828-273-5383 to schedule a showing. This will give you an extra opportunity to see the artwork and/or purchase a piece to support our conservation efforts. The Wedge at Foundation is open seven days a week, but viewing availability is limited, so call us and we will gladly set a personal showing for you.
There are 3 collections of artwork, with each collection on display for a two-week period.

Preserving A Picturesque America (PAPA) will hold its annual Fall art sale and exhibition “Preservation Through Art — The French Broad” from Sept. 16 through Oct. 27 in the Cloud Room at the Wedge at Foundation. Many local artists have contributed art works in a variety of mediums, depicting scenes along the French Broad River from the original 1870s publication “Picturesque America.”
This art sale and exhibition is PAPA’s major fundraiser. Proceeds from the sale of artwork will not only support PAPA with its ongoing mission but will also contribute to the conservation efforts of such organizations as Riverlink, Asheville Greenworks, MountainTrue, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Friends of Pisgah National Forest, and Friends of Chimney Rock State Park.

The Friends of Carl Sandburg will have a Benefit Celebration at Dry Falls Brewing Company located at 425 Kanuga Road, Hendersonville, from 12:00 to 5:00. Jeff and Evan, Dry Falls team, have created a special BIG GLASSY brew that will be available for the event. A commemorative “Big Glassy” glass and “suds” will be available for $10.00. Come out, bring your friends and family to join us that afternoon for some fun and share your Glassy Mountain experiences. We will also be selling our Glassy Mountain Celebration Tee Shirts at the event. Arrangements have been made for the Heidi-Ho Food Truck for lunch or an early dinner. Dry Falls will be sharing a percentage of the profits during the event with the Friends to benefit the educational programs and cultural services at the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site.

Get ready to rock out on October 9th as the Spartanburg County Medical Society Alliance presents Docs Who Rock Spartanburg!
The unique rock concert will feature members of Spartanburg’s esteemed medical community in roles in which their patients may have never seen them – band members.The highly-skilled medical professionals will show off their musical talents to benefit Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas. Docs Who Rock Spartanburg is almost sold out.
Dance along to songs you know performed by local bands each with at least one physician who lives and practices in the Spartanburg area. As physicians trade in their stethoscopes and scalpels for guitars and snare drums, this is certain to be the hottest ticket in town!

Hominy Rising – Arts & Awareness on the Greenway
The Friends of Hominy Creek Greenway is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a reflection on the history, ecology and beauty of our Greenway. As part of this celebration we are hosting an art exhibition which will consist of temporary, outdoor art installations and performances.
