This event is free and open to everyone.
Most festivals are about the music, the food and the fun… the InterBeing Festival includes all of that, but the focus is on meaning and connection. Individuals from all walks of life are invited to gather, elevate the spirit, relate with others, and explore the power of community.
Through a rich array of interactive workshops, engaging discussions, artistic performances and group ritual, participants will embark on a journey of discovery and connection. Whether singing in a song circle, being part of a cacao ceremony, creating art on the spot or dancing to the rhythm of world music, there will be something for everyone to enjoy and engage with.
The festival will feature an inspiring lineup of speakers, activists and artists; performers include musical headliner Alexander Caruso, along with Adama Dembele, Billy Jonas, and One Heart Band, all of whom are known for catchy tunes and meaningful lyrics.
The festival theme this year is Community: Refuge in a Changing World. To that end, our featured session will be the Community Leaders Roundtable, bringing together community support organizations to be in dialog with each other for the first time, sharing their values, their vision, their challenges and solutions.
The festival is a fundraiser for Beloved Asheville, our scrappy local nonprofit that serves those most in need.

ASAP (Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project) has released a survey to learn more about how people in Western North Carolina shop for food and why they choose the food they do. The survey, part of a three-year project by ASAP’s Local Food Research Center, is for any resident of Western North Carolina over the age of 18, no matter where or how they shop for food. It can be completed online at surveymonkey.com/r/WNCFoodASAP or over the phone by calling ASAP at 828-236-1282. It should take approximately 8 to 12 minutes to complete and will be open through Oct. 31, 2024. Respondents are encouraged to share the survey widely with families, friends, and co-workers.
“By completing this survey, you are helping local farmers understand and connect with consumers,” said Amy Marion, ASAP Associate Director and lead researcher. “The challenges of our food system are constantly evolving. Improving it requires active participation from all community members. With this research we can better understand consumer values and the barriers they face, and help farmers and food producers improve communications with their customers and their communities.”
The survey is part of a three-year research project, “Connections in Direct Markets: Assessing the feedback loop between consumer values and farmers’ marketing strategies,” which will examine and improve communication and alignment between farmers and consumers in Western North Carolina. The research phase will also employ consumer focus groups, farmer interviews and case studies, and more targeted surveying. The broad consumer survey provides an update to the last consumer survey conducted by the Local Food Research Center in 2014. Results from the current research project will be shared in 2025.
ASAP founded the Local Food Research Center in 2011 to study the economic, environmental, and social impacts of localizing food systems. From its inception, ASAP’s programs and services have been grounded in research and evaluation, adjusting based on a strong feedback loop and observation of current conditions in the food system.
This project is supported in part by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture, under award number 2022-38640-37488 through the Southern Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program under subaward number LS23-382. USDA is an equal opportunity employer and service provider.

This Agatha Christie classic features colorful characters and a plot twist that will delight any mystery fan! Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but it has fewer passengers by morning. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer – in case he or she decides to strike again. Ken Ludwig’s clever adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Murder On The Orient Express boasts the celebrated novel’s glamor, intrigue, and suspense, with a healthy dose of humor.
Fast-paced. Wildly entertaining. Irreverent. Nonstop laughs. Delightful. Darkly
comic. These are the descriptors you will find repeatedly, anywhere you read anything about Kate
Hamill’s MS. HOLMES AND MS. WATSON, APT. 2B. The fact that it is a fast-paced, delightful, wildly
entertaining, irreverent comedy full of nonstop laughs is precisely why The Warehouse Theatre chose
it to lead off their new season.
The play is a comedic, modern take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous sleuth and sidekick. This
rollercoaster romp re-examines the world’s most famous detective story as oddball female
roommates Sherlock Holmes & Joan Watson join forces to emerge from a pandemic fog as a deeply
codependent, quasi-dysfunctional odd couple adventure duo—solving mysteries and kicking butts,
until they come face to face with a villain who seems to have all of the answers.
I Pay What I Can Sunday is September 15th at 3:00pm with tickets being sold on a first come, first
serve basis starting at 2:15pm. Talk Back follows the performance on September 15th. Blue Star
Theatre discounts for veterans and active military apply throughout the run, as well as student and
educator discounts. The show runs September 13th – October 6th, 2024. More information including
tickets can be found at WarehouseTheatre.com.

Four billion years. Millions of species. Five mass extinction events (and counting, but more on that later). It’s the story of Life on Our Planet, a stunning new series chronicling the ongoing rise and fall of lives on Earth, from the cataclysmic events that reshape our ecosystems to the creatures that survived (or didn’t) along the way. Because life always finds a way — but as this eight-part epic journey proves, the road from single-celled life-form to the biodiversity we know today was anything but drama free.

Set in the intimate confines of a family living room, this adaptation transforms the sprawling classic tragedy into a deeply personal exploration of kinship, loyalty, betrayal, and fate.
Traditionally set in the royal courts of Denmark, this reimagining of Hamlet tells the story of a family grappling with grief and betrayal within the walls of their own home.
