A hybrid of Minnesota and Wisconsin (with a severe cheese dependency), comedian Mary Mack is a favorite on radio shows and podcasts around the country including, Marc Maron’s WTF Podcast, The Bob and Tom Show, and The Grand Ole Opry. Currently, she stars as Jesse in the Hulu cartoon Solar Opposites by the creators of Rick and Morty. Other television credits include TBS’ Conan, Adult Swim’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Last Call with Carson Daly, and The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. She’s appeared in Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival, HBO’s Andy Kaufman Awards, San Francisco’s Sketchfest, and the Dry Bar comedy series. When not touring, Mary spends way too much time and money working on her vintage camper in the woods of Northern Wisconsin. Buncombe County Environmental Health is hosting a FREE course for pool operators, owners, and any others who are involved in the day-to-day operation of a public pool, spa, or other body of water or are tasked with filling out the paperwork annually.

Topics that will be covered:

• How to avoid getting your annual application sent back.
• How to avoid a revisit fee and permit-action items specific to North Carolina.
• Common permit conditions.
• Industry changes and what they mean for you.
• How to properly fill out your safety data sheet:
  • How to properly measure your sump.
  • How to determine a flow reduction, if needed.
  • How to determine that your drain covers work with your pool.

The training will be in person at 200 College St. Asheville, NC 28801. It will be broken up into two sections with the latter to work on your individual datasheet with in-person help from an Environmental Health staff member. Please note that this course is NOT a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) training course.

To ensure a conducive learning environment for all, the number of registrants is limited, so registration is first come, first served. Once registration has closed, you will receive a confirmation email letting you know whether or not your registration has been accepted. The course agenda will be attached to emails sent to registrants attending the course.

Bon Secours Wellness Arena is pleased to announce that we will host iconic Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli February 15, 2024 as part of an eleven show tour hitting major cities across the U.S. and Canada. The show will honor Valentine’s Day and mark Bocelli’s first time performing in South Carolina. Greenville Symphony Orchestra will accompany Bocelli for the performance conducted by Maestro Steven Mercurio.

2024 officially marks 30 years of Andrea Bocelli’s iconic career as well as his 65th birthday. As one of the most recognizable voices in the entertainment industry and revered by fans internationally, Andrea Bocelli has sold 90 million records worldwide. In addition to his sold-out arena-sized concert events and record-breaking live-streams, Bocelli has shared his talents at many major events including the Olympic Games, the World Cup, and Global Citizen. He has earned a Golden Globe, seven Classical BRITs and seven World Music Awards, plus a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The tour will feature performances from Bocelli’s beloved repertoire, including music to celebrate Valentine’s in February. All newly announced dates will feature selections from his uplifting solo album Believe, as well as a selection of arias, his beloved crossover hits, and famed love songs.

Greenville Swamp Rabbits vs. South Carolina Stingrays

The innovative “klezgrass” music of Zoe & Cloyd springs from the rich traditions and complementary styles of fiddler/vocalist Natalya Zoe Weinstein and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist John Cloyd Miller. Descending from a lineage of klezmer and jazz musicians, Natalya trained classically in her home state of Massachusetts before moving south in 2004. John, a twelfth generation North Carolinian and grandson of pioneering bluegrass fiddler, Jim Shumate, is a 1st place winner of the prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest and the Hazel Dickens Songwriting Contest. Based in Asheville, NC, Zoe & Cloyd delight audiences with soaring harmonies and heartfelt songwriting, seamlessly combining original bluegrass, klezmer, old-time and folk with sincerity and zeal.

In 2023, Zoe & Cloyd released their fifth studio album on Organic Records, entitled Songs of Our Grandfathers. The project is an homage to their respective bluegrass and klezmer roots and has been enthusiastically received with feature articles in Bluegrass Unlimited, No Depression and the Bluegrass Situation. Also in 2023, Zoe & Cloyd performed at numerous events including Bluegrass Omagh in Northern Ireland, the Earl Scruggs Music Festival, the NC Folk Festival, and will host A Swannanoa Solstice at the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts in Asheville.

Zoe & Cloyd will be joined at the BMCA by bassist and long-time collaborator, Kevin Kehrberg. Kevin is an award-winning bassist who has performed jazz and traditional music styles all over the world from Indonesia to Kyrgyzstan, Japan and beyond. His recent collaborative recording for Bluegrass at the Crossroads won IBMA 2021 Instrumental Recording of the Year. Kevin has taught many workshops and clinics in addition to being a professor of music at Warren Wilson College, where he maintains an active bass studio and teaches various courses in music and culture.
