Make your leap day 2020 memorable by signing up for the 8th annual Chilly Challenge 8K Race & 1-Mile Chili Chase Fun Run and Chili Cook-off in Weaverville, NC! Runners will enjoy a brisk scenic run and post-race celebration that includes a tasty chili lunch, live music and fantastic prizes. For runners and walkers of all ages, this event is hosted by the North Buncombe Middle School PTO and presented by TS Orthodontics to raise funding for the school.

The chip timed 8K race takes place on a rolling hills course with start and finish on the school campus. Sign up by February 15th and save! The 8K entry fees are $35 for adults and $20 for students. The 8K fees increase $5 on February 16th. The 1-Mile Chili Chase entry fee is $15. Runners will warm up after the race with a chili lunch including cornbread and fixings. Free t-shirts are guaranteed for all participants who register by February 5th. Spectators can purchase a chili lunch for $5. The Merrell Adventure Dash is all about getting outside and challenging yourself to work hard for your good time. Suitable for families as well as adults, participants will negotiate a series of natural and man-made obstacles along the 5K course, including balance components, climbs and nets, a river-run, and raft crossing. This holiday weekend, enjoy a fun, family-friendly adventure run in the beautiful Nantahala Gorge. Merrell Adventure Dash participants can choose between the 5K dash or a 1K fun run. Kids aged 12 and under race free with a participating adult.

Growing Wild Forest School is excited to provide a dynamic, nature-based Kids Program at this year’s OGS Spring Conference. Our talented staff educators believe in nurturing kids outdoors to help them grow and reach their full potential.  We believe in supporting and engaging the whole child, inside and out. We will offer crafts, science experiments, outdoor activities, and indoor and outdoor play opportunities on the Mars Hill University campus during the conference hours. Children should be dressed to go outside and be comfortable for outdoor play activities. Snacks and water bottles should be brought each day. We will break for lunch from 12:45-1:45 for children to eat with their parents or caregivers.

The Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce will present the 2nd annual Mardi Gras All You Can Eat Seafood Festival from 12:00 to 5:00PM Saturday March 7th at the Harmon Field open air gym, 117 Harmon Field Rd, Tryon, NC 28782.

Activities include live DJ dance music, all-you-can-eat seafood consisting of oysters roasted over an open fire, shrimp, mussels, low country boil, barbecue chicken wings, authentic gumbo, coleslaw, rolls, iced tea, coffee, king cakes and a great selection of draft beers and wine. A bonfire will light up the sky as guests dance away the hours.

The Blue Ridge Humane Society, Inc., is a 501(c)3 animal welfare organization started in 1950 dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of life for animals in Henderson County and our neighboring communities.
